The sound was way to loud, the guy next to me nearly jumped out of his seat too many times to count. Special effects were good and fun, but the dialog part was log and tedius. Yes, I listened. It's been a very long time since I've seen a movie that just had me captivated from start to finish. I saw it twice on IMAX and highly recommend it because the visual effects are just amazing. The plot will have you thinking long after the credits are rolling, and as long as you don't doze off (which you won't!!) the movie is easy to follow. No, it is not one of those you'll need to see twice to understand, but rather just one that'll make you just say "Wow!" repeatedly. An outstanding performance from the entire cast (even the minor roles were done well). I am harsh when it comes to writing reviews, but I honestly cannot find something negative to say about it. What's even more impressive is watching the trailer again after seeing the movie. The trailer itself is an inception.

My initial worry was that they'd try to be too conceptual with the dream vs. reality scenario. Turns out they played with it just enough to be interesting, but not to be confusing. It was very clear and well planned; great visuals and "reveals." Some movies over 2 hours feel like they go on forever. This one didn't---once the end rolled around we didn't feel like we were sitting forever and we didn't feel like it was too long. An excellent balance.
Regarding the IMAX version, it wasn't true IMAX. Granted, it's great to see something big, but I kept waiting for it to go from widescreen to full side-to-side and top-to-bottom IMAX...but it never did. So we payed for IMAX, it wasn't true IMAX, but it looked great.

Just like Matrix and other films of the same genre, you really have to pay attention to every detail at the beginning to understand the ending. Great acting, great effects! Kept me attentive for the entire 2 1/2 hours but it was a little over my head. I had to discuss it with my husband afterward (LOL) and now I will want to buy the DVD so I can see it over and over. Then I can go back and catch what I missed at the beginning.

The special effects were spectacular. The underlying reason for why the main character was acting the way he was showed up towards the end. I got lost somewhere in the middle as to who was doing what and why. The plot got a little too complicated for me. This would scare the pants off someone who has dreams within dreams. A real shoot 'em up bang bang type of movie. Guys will LOVE it.

Saw this in IMAX, although I don't believe it's necessary for this film, but extra crisp picture and sound made it more tense and some unexpected loud sound makes you jump out of the seat.
It is an intense drama/action movie - you don't have much moment to rest your mind. Story is not that hard to follow but the dreams go within dreams and changes places/times. I'd recommend this for most people who like action, but for others who don't like to think much and like to see movies to relax - this won't be for you then.

This movie had as many layers of plot as the plot had layers of dreams. Just as you start to figure out where you think the story is taking you, it adds a layer and changes direction to even better intrigue! I was excited to see the film and had paid for the IMAX experience. After the first 20 minutes I looked at my wife to see if she was engaged and enjoying the film. "Not a clue" she said. We both cracked up. Who is she, why can't he be the architect, why can't motor bikes catch up with an old beaten up white van, why are there blokes with guns trying to kill them, what are they trying to steal, why Mombasa, what's the point? It never improved. Shame. You may enjoy it though, lot's of people seem to love it.

I wouldn't recommend seeing this movie in IMAX. The effects would be just as stunning in regular size (IMAX seems like it's about a third bigger to my eye) and you would emerge with your hearing intact.
That said, the movie is very engrossing while you're watching, offering multiple layers of intrigue, crazy eye candy, and enough ambiguity to make for a long conversation on the ride home.
I would say it seemed like a pretty similar film to "Memento," which I much preferred. But given that "Memento" is one of my favorite movies, I did really enjoy watching a $150 million dollar riff on the same themes.

This movie was excellent. The plot, the acting, the cinematography, the effects. All of it looked and felt amazing, like you were having an experience. It is definitely a thinker, a bit confusing at times, but the movie naturally guides you to figure things out on your own. Definitely see it.

It was a great concept for a movie but it just fell flat for me. They did not spend enough time getting to know the characters so I really did not care about them all that much. Good casting, but could have done better. Very long movie. In 2 hrs and 28 minutes they could have explained more about the plot. I was lost for a bit about the different levels of dream and exactly how it worked. I almost fell asleep at one point. The effects were not that great. It was just an Ok movie and I would not rave to my friends about it.

I thought the movie was a brilliant display of film-making from one of the few directors who seems to be able to handle complex stories alongside a beautiful mix of practical and CG effects.
My only gripe (hence the 4 stars) is the final shot of the film which seems like Mr. Nolan is giving us a little nudge nudge, wink wink and making even the most oblivious of movie goers question what they just watched. The idea exclaimed so loudly by this final shot is planted throughout the film well enough already and simply causes problems by breaking the logical rules the film creates for itself throughout.

it definitely was worth watching. except for a couple of scenes that could have been edited down, scenes where the movie dragged, it was a good entertaining experience. It's a fantasy but I thought the world building was strong enough that it made the storyline plausible, i.e., it allowed the viewer to suspend disbelief and enjoy the ride into a fantastical journey. DeCaprio carried the movie well. I'd give the movie 5 stars except for the couple of places where, like i mentioned, it just plain dragged. The visuals were outstanding. The movie comes with great fight scenes, chase scenes, etc. Totally worth seeing at least once and, yes, I'll probably go see it again. :-)

No consistent plot, terrible sound, all the characters looked exactly the same, no character development and no reason to care what happened to any of them. This movie was an excuse to show off fancy and probably expensive special effects.

The movie was great i would go see it 10 more times!! The problem was the actual size of the theater. I walked in expecting an imax screen instead the screen was just a bit bigger than your normal size screen. I've been to an imax theater before and clearly that was not an imax theater. Although the sound was great! I would recommend the movie but not the theater.

Maybe this will get an award for special affects but otherwise, it was confusing, loud, violent, and put me in total sensory overload by the end of it. There was no connection to the characters....just a lot of action and violence.
