I have not seen a film since the Matrix that completely stimulated my senses just as much as my mind. The action was top notch, acting was phenomenal, and just the overall script is as creative and intriguing as anything I have seen.
The great thing is, this movie isn't just for seeing once. Seeing it for the first time is so you can take in the core of the story. There is so much imagery, subtle clues, references, and homages both on screen and in the dialogue, that you need to see it a second time to fully appreciate this movie. After you see it the first time, I suggest everyone read all the online material you can about what to look and listen for when watching it the second time. Read about what to ponder and question, and all of the different theories of why certain names, dialogue, and images were used.
Combine the viewing of this film along with the understanding of the imagery, dialogue, etc., and you will see why this film truly is a masterpiece.

While the trailors do give a bit of misleading about the movie, as a whole the movie is a great concept with great execution.
There are a lot of details that tie together throughout the movie, so don't go thinking it will be a vegatative experience, you will have to think more in this movie than any other to link the entire story and emerse into the movie's reality.
Great experience, wish they would have done it in the new 3D Imax, but the sound effects really added to the power of suggestion to get you "into" the movie.

All elements of this film are amazing. The cast is great, directing is superb and the effects are up to date, but most importantly Chris Nolan has the best original idea since The Matrix, and he has the talent and skill to blend everything together perfectly without any questions like "um, should that have happened?" I have seen inception twice now. I thought it would suffer knowing everything that happens, but it got even better. I spent the entire second viewing trying to pick out details and make a better judgment on the meaning of the ending. Well I'm still uncertain. Christopher Nolan had shown us he can make a thrilling, beautiful movie in The Dark Night. Inception is a thrill ride with intense pace, action and suspense. The two and a half hour movie feels like 15 minutes. Wonderful movie and I hope it gets respect come awards season.

This is an incredible flick. Great premise and very good execution. The special effects are very nice as well. I could have done without spending the extra money for the IMAX tickets since it wasn't shot in IMAX, but the sound effects were pretty nice. You really need to pay attention to the movie though. There are so many things going that it's easy to lose track of what happened.

First and foremost for people that have seen the trailers - these scenes are pretty much all the cool scenes in the movie, and they're actually more boring in the context of the movie than they are in the trailers.
I think the script was written by a CSI or Chuck writer, because instead of character development through natural dialogue, you get one-dimensional, similar, and explanatory-sounding language coming from different characters that explain the events to you rather than show you.
The concept of sharing lucid dreams is great and all, but I wish there had been SOME logical explanation or back-story about how it all came to be - i.e., basing this concept on something in reality (even if implausible). And the "dream rules" seem arbitrary and not really realistic (at least in my dream experience). Specifically, their dreams are much too concrete and laws-of-physics-behaving (in general), and not dream-like at all.

I thought the pace of the movie was very good. The concept was amazing. the writing was very good. Special effects, so-so.

The film started off very confusing, like a stream of consciousness dream. Which is what I expected. It should have stayed that way and let the viewer interpret it. Instead it turned into a formulaic thriller. Entertaining, and great special effects, but it could have been so much more.

Reminded me of old school movielines from the 1940's like the Maltese Falcon, but had the graphics to back it up. Maybe it was just my theatre, but I could have saved the extra $$ I had to pay for IMAX, it wasn't that amazingly IMAX. We did discuss if the theatre was maybe having issues with projection or something because other IMAX movies had that dazzle. Stunts are still amazing and plot is crazy good. Overall, I would see it again, and that is something I rarely do (in the theatre anyway)

Nolan is a genius, pure and simple. He builds layer upon layer upon layer in Inception. He goes deep into the human mind, yet does it so simply and with heart. His limited use of CGI was a smart choice in this day and age of overuse. I couldn't think of a more perfect cast. His use of camera angles added to the suspense, as well as Mr. Zimmer's mesmerizing music. DiCaprio shone, as usual, and makes one wonder when the AMPAS will recognize him for his gift of pure talent. I will definitely see Inception a second time in IMAX. IMAX highlighted my enjoyment and is an asset to filmakers of Mr. Nolan's caliber. Dump 3D, which is just an annoying fad, and make more movies in IMAX!

I have now seen this film 4 times, twice on IMAX! This is the most interesting, intriguing, fascinating film I have ever seen. I cannot get the images out of my head. I have seen this movie twice so far; both times one week ago (07.18.10 and 07.19.10) at an IMAX theater.
Each time I watched the movie, I was thoroughly entertained as I am a fan of science fiction movies and well done computer-generated special effects. I also appreciate quality acting and the story arc of a plot within a movie.
All of the aforementioned aspects were extremely evident in this movie. An extra bonus to such features was the extra large screen and multi-channel surround sound system at an IMAX theater.
The movie seems to have multiple story lines within a main story; including a major back story, which is often referenced to throughout.
It is those references in which I did not particularly care for as it interrupted the main story arc and chopped up flow and action. It's these interruptions was a direct result in the movie being 28 minutes too long. That is the primary reason for me subtracting the fifth star.
I have heard many of my peers comment that the movie was difficult to follow. I didn't find it difficult to follow at all. Yes it is an intricate story, but it is certainly not confusing. You just need to pay attention and accept that it is science fiction.
In addition, Ellen Page is extremely cute :)

Inception was a well-balanced film with intense action scenes and a thought-provoking plot. The ending will leave you wanting more! The actors had great chemistry and the pschological roller coaster the movie takes you on keeps adults and teenagers always looking for answers. The IMAX experience was exhilirating because with each sound from the movie screen you could literally feel the vibrations. However, don't sit too close if you are prone to headaches. Don't miss this film!

What a disaster. Since MovieTickets.com didn't have my tickets readily available at any of the kiosks, it was the perfect way to start off movie night. After being moved from kiosk, to kiosk, to ticket window, to guest services I finally found that my name wasn't in the computer. I guess buying tickets 3 days in advanced wasn't time enough for MovieTickets.com to get their act together.
After giving the cashier my confirmation number, I overheard a woman asking for tickets to a different show because there were no more seats in the "IMAX" theater. See the IMAX in Arcadia doesn't allow you to pre-purchase seats...but I guess that's because calling that theater an IMAX is a bit of a stretch.
I got tickets to another showing of Inception that wasn't in IMAX and started an hour later (buying tickets online really helps, huh?). So while waiting around I walked into the IMAX theater to see how full it was. What I noticed, besides the theater being full, was that the screen was nowhere near the size of a true IMAX. Turns out, after asking Guest Services, that the "IMAX" at the AMC Santa Anita 16 is only 60 feet wide.. when standard IMAX is 72 feet wide. It also looked not even close to the 53.8 ft tall, more like 30 ft.
In line for the new theater I read an article about IMAX cheapening their brand by having smaller sized theater that give you what they now call the IMAX experience. What a rip off.. I guess in this day in age the buyer really needs to beware of the marketing BS.
Inception was pretty good, but the run around with AMC and Movietickets.com was awful, thus tainting my view of the movie. I will not go to that theater ever again and will ask about screen sizes before walking into any "IMAX" theaters in the future. I recommend you do the same.

Very interesting film, quite complex, fascinating concept. I found myself however doubting the motivation of the characters, were they really getting enough to take such risks? Obviously visually stunning, but I found Dicaprio particularly distracting with his acting. He's just NOT a leading man. Period.
Good. Not great.
