I actually enjoyed this movie!
It does remind you of 'Independence Day' only with the Navy instead of the Air Force. The special effects were great! The storyline was well thought out and executed.
There were times when you wonder, 'How in the world are they going to win this?' Good job.
NOT BAD for KIDS over the age 10 (little kids might have bad dreams). Also, PARENTS there was only one curse word. The 's' word was said I think once. Go out and enjoy! I may buy the dvd when it comes out!

So much fun! There were a couple of times when I thought the battle scenes went on a little too long, but for the most part once the action started I was totally caught up in it. Rihanna was surprisingly good (loved her character), the story was great, and they brought the board game into it several times in a clever and subtle tongue-in-cheek manner.
We'll probably go see it again in the theater, and we'll definitely own a copy once it comes out. This will be one we watch regularly.

The first few minutes of the movie had me wishing I had waited for the dvd as it had the feel of a direct to tv Saturday afternoon B movie. Once the action started to heat up however the movie picked itself up by it's bootstraps and you could hear the occasional cheering in the audience. The movie wound up being a feel good movie with good action, special effects and human characters you could root for - this will find it's way into my collection.

Absolutely loved the movie, and wish it was showing in IMAX here in Wichita. Also loved how it literally started looking like the game Battleship. It was pretty awesome. Definitely impressed, and would recommend anyone going ! I wasn't disappointed.

To all the overly-harsh couch-potato critics out there, what movie did YOU see? I thought this was a GREAT movie!
ANYONE who has EVER served in the military NEEDS to go see this movie. It makes you feel good about our military and the men who have fought and sacrificed for the U.S. in every war. The use of REAL WWII veterans in the movie and the appearance of Gregory Gadson as Mick is nothing less than inspiring.
It's nice to see that Hollywood is letting us be the good guys on screen instead of the victims. Or the enemy.

Awesome! We so enjoyed seeing a film shot in and around Oahu where our son and his family live. He's a Chief in the Navy and was cast as an extra, so that added to the excitement of seeing the film!

The movie was amazing! The storyline, special effects, action and the use of the U.S. Navy was absolutely outstanding! The battleships, the ocean, the alien ships and aliens kept me on the edge of my seat. Seeing the inside of the battleships brought back memories for me and I could relate to the Military talk in the movie. I really enjoyed the movie and how the actors/actresses showed dedication, will, drive, heart and committment to do what was needed to fight the enemy. The movie was really superb and outstanding. The movie was off the charts and I Salute the entire cast and people behind the scenes of the movie who did a Great job.

This movie has had so many mediocre reviews that I was hesitant to go see it but I went with my boyfriend and was surprised at how good it really was! I don't want to give away too much of the plot so suffice it to say that they build the storyline on a potentially plausible circumstance that could happen someday. The filming and special effects are top notch as to be expected today and the pace remains fast moving which results in a consistently engaging film. It's a bit violent for young kids, while appropriate for teens. If you like action packed movies and can at least enjoy battle movies, you should very likely find the movie enjoyable and entertaining.

I really like Liam Neeson but lately (The Grey and now Battleship) he has taken on roles in really BAD movies. Battleship was full of the old standard lines like, "I've got a bad feeling about this" and "not today" or "not on my watch". I actually found myself looking at my watch to see how much longer I had to endure this terrible flick. Finally, I decided another 25 minutes was just too long so I left.

I really enjoyed Battleship. I got a kick out of several parts of this movie, including how the sailors were portrayed. I know a handful myself so I know most of them don't act like that but it was amusing to watch. Interesting plot, good acting, and a few good fistfights. A good movie to just kick back and watch.

I've sat though more than a few mediocre action films in the past and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I even found the first quarter of this film moderately entertaining. But the lackluster acting (are there NO real actors in H-Wood anymore?), Transformer rip-off story line, effects and mood just wore me down. It's vintage rock soundtrack assaults the viewer at such a high volume, I began feeling like this film was begging the audience to hate it. Finally, any action film with Liam Neeson should include at least one scene with Liam delivering a serious beat-down. By the last quarter of this movie, I was checking my email. I also, finally understood why there were only 22 other people in the theater with me at a 7pm megascreen showing at a high volume multi-screen cinema. Who bankrolled this project? I should have been at the pitch meeting -- I could have saved them some time and money. Although it's too late to help the backers, I can help you. Skip this silly film and rent the first Transformers.

Loved the veterans and the pt folks. What a great way to incorporate them into the plot and give them a shout out! Love when an action flick brings me to tears w the reminder of the undaunting American spirit. The humor was just enough to keep it light. People were clapping at parts in my theater. Definitely enjoyed!! Navy rules!!
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, military and veterans

Although FX were great, the movie starts slow and you feel like they kind of compress the action and finale in segments which makes it kind of overwhelming at times.
Still good for a boring night with no plans, or eat and movie combo.

Awesome movie. Loved all the scenes.

I liked it. It was better than I thought it would be. There was some good acting, alright acting, and not very good acting, unfortunately. But there was some great action, and was a pretty decent story. Liam Neeson, Alexander Skarsgard, and Taylor Kitsch were all good. It had a little humor. I would recommend it to you if you're looking for something to do this weekend, or if you like a lot of action and even if you like the navy at all. Overall it was a good movie, and it wouldn't totally be a waste of time-considering that it's two hours.

To be honest the only reason I gave this movie 4 stars instead of 3 is because it was awesome to see some real Navy vets and wounded soldiers in this movie. It gave the movie heart and gave me a sense of pride for our military heroes. The Transformer-like special effects was nothing new. The story line could have been better. They should have explained WHY the aliens came to earth, instead they guessed why they came. Oh, and they just so happened to have enough live weapons is a ship that's been lying dormant for 70 years? C'mon now
When you spend 100+ million dollars making an action summer "blockbuster". It needs to be top notch in all aspects not just ok. So I guess Avengers will be #1 again this weekend. My theater was only half full. I guess no one believed the hype.

Cons storyline, not believeable
