Great story! They couldn't have picked a better cast than Diane Lane and John Malkovich. Both are great actors and they portrayed the roll of Mrs. Tweedy and Lucien Lorin very roll. I felt like I was living in the 60's and 70's when all of this really happened. My 7 year old daughter loved it as well. I will be buying it for her to watch over and over!

"Secretariat" is an amazing story that the filmmakers chose to portray in the most entertaining and moving way possible. The dialogue and acting are excellent, the cinematography and musical score are stunning, and the editing is tight as can be. The character development is just right. John Malkovich absolutely shines, and Diane Lane is flawless. This is a great film about a great true story which will be a classic for all time.

Despite knowing how the last race would end, the story and acting kept it entertaining and on the edge of your seat. The race scenes were fantastic! Close-ups of the horses were very compelling. Special kudos to John Malkavich and Diane Lane. Excellent performances. My 9 year old granddaughter also thoroughly enjoyed it. Take the family! (or just yourself)! It's worth it.

This is true Disney. Diane Lane was terrific as Penny Tweedy. Great family movie that shows that will and determination can lead to great things. In racing, luck plays a larger part, as the movie shows. However, I wish they would have focused more on Secretariat the horse. Why "Big Red"? He was over 17 hands, with a stride that covers over 17', etc. The movie did revive a great personal memory.....I was at the Ky Derby that Secretariat won.....with my future wife now of 34 years......

My husband and I took our 12 yr old son to see Secretariat. All three of us loved the movie. It was a great feel good movie for the whole family. My son actually went home and pulled up Secretariat's Belmont Stakes race on the internet to actually see what was re-created in the movie. It does not have a lot of special effects or action, but it gets you involved with the story. Even though we knew Secretariat won the Triple Crown, we were still biting our nails pulling for him. Take the family and enjoy!

This by far is one of the best Disney moves to come out in the last 5-6 years. Our 11 year old was on the edge of his seat for the last 30 minutes of the movie because it was just that good. It was great to see the real Penny in the Belmont stands as well. This is a heart warming movie that we will buy as soon as it comes out on DVD. GREAT FAMILY MOVIE!!!!!!

This was an excellent movie! From beginning to end it was riveting, inspirational and the had me on the edge of my seat ready to scream encouragement...even when I knew he was going to win! The acting was superb by every single actor and I loved the real footage and epilogue of what happened to each of the real life parties and of course "Big Red" at the end. Could've watched this movie back to back a couple of times!

This is a very enjoyable family-friendly movie. Diane Lane was superb, and each of the lead roles was well portrayed. My only criticism is that the movie was a little slow to begin, as they established who the characters were and their relationships/beliefs... I think some of the younger viewers would be bored with the preamble. However once the horses take the stage this movie is a delight for all ages (and for those of us old enough to remember the real Secretariat, it is extra special to watch and remember). We'll probably buy this on DVD to watch many times over.

This is one of those uplifting movies like Rudy, Apollo 13 or The Blind Side. It tells a wonderful story about hope and what can happen if you work hard and refuse to give up on your dreams! What is best about movies like these is they are based on real life events so it's not like believing in a fantasy. At the end, the entire audience clapped!!! I loved that I was sharing an awesome, inspiring movie with entire theater who all were on the same page. In a world w/so much negativity -- it is truly refreshing to be inspired from a long ago generation who seemed to have long-term commitment, perseverance & loyalty. How exciting that this woman believed and had instinct to stay the course. I loved how the beginning of the movie opened -- the sound of the horses at the race --- the loyalty of the people -- and their respect. Who wouldn't enjoy this?

I was in High School the year Secretariat ran at Belmont. The race was in the news everywhere. At the time I lived in New York ,not far from Belmont. This movie brought back memories , but most of all was so inspirational and uplifting. It is so wonderful to leave a movie theater with a upbeat, positive attitude. This movie is a plus for all ages to see from the youngest to the oldest members of a family. Nice to have a film like this made.

This was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. I felt invigorated and like a champion myself when I left. Though I knew the outcome of the movie before it began, it did not steal the joy or fascination in hearing this true story retold. Hard to capture the actual greatness of what I consider to be one of the top 10 athletes in the 20th century. Believe Wallace did a commendable job over all. The race scenes were powerful, yet a bit awkward at times. Very typical of most sports movies though. The race scenes in Seabiscuit were much better, & I think Wallace could have used similar techniques found in Seabiscuit for this movie. Nevertheless, very entertaining & well worth the ticket price to see Big Red depicted on the big screen finally. Long over due!

What a wonderful biopic movie. Diane Lane did a great job as portraying Penny Chenery-Tweedy, as the loving, smart and confident yet vulnerable daughter of a Virginia horsefarm owner and conflicted yet determined wife. Secretariat is an inspirational movie with a fairly tale ending. At this time in our history with a war and many in financial ruin, it is just what the public needs to lift their spirits and let them know that, despite the odds, dreams really do come true.
The movie is well acted, the scenery is beautiful and the race scenes give you an idea of just how treacherous horse-racing is.
The horse itself is/was gorgeous and a testament to how animals contribute to our lives and happiness. A major factor to Secretariat's success is the positive attitudes and character of all his caretakers. Good things can and do happen to good people. Don't miss this movie!

Wonderfully entertaining for the whole family. Depicts Secretariat's legend beautifully and the woman who wouldn't take no for an answer and let this champion of champions "run his race" amd make history. A movie long overdue and a must see! As stated in reviews I read horse people will deffinately be able to tell the difference between all the horses used for the part, but that doesn't affect the story and don't let it deter you!

Fabulous film. A feel-good movie that is also very believable. Good acting and very good cinematography. The film meant more to me because I was there, at Belmont in 1973 to see Secretariat win the Triple Crown.

This movie was completely awesome. . .words from an 11 year old. We were on the edge of our seats hoping Secretariat would win even though we already knew the outcome.
