A great story that goes into history of what went on during the 4 yrs with that other president as well as the history of this country involving the indians bur does not overdo it. Sprinkled in with great action, love story, and villans. The 3d is just the icing on the cake. Thank you james cameron for an entertaining as well as a visual masterpiece.

It was a marvelous movie, an ingenious story line, special affects, and music and sound. WOW!
However, it's still incredulous to me that there is such a lack of regard for using the Lord's name in vain. It's a cheap shot at conveying extreme emotion. It is just NOT necessary. Because of this, I amnot able to approve my grandchildren seeing it. What a shame.

The only positive thing I can say about this movie is that the 3D experience and special effects were actually pretty cool.
Besides that, however we have an extremely left of center politically charged film. American ex-military personnel are shown as an evil force bent on the destruction of a ficticious group on another planet.
At one point, an ex-Marine Colonel, enraged at the innocent beings for trying to defend themselves shouts "we'll fight terror with terror!"
Enough said.

The movie is very blatantly anti-imperialism and pro-conservation. It's lines are cringe-worthy. However, that is all outweighed by the incredible scenery and creatures that Cameron created. It's a beautiful movie to watch and definitely entertaining.

Visually spectacular. Even though the storyline was predictable and a little slow at times, the graphics made up for and surpassed this drawback. James Cameron truly has a gift. Avatar is a quintessential example of style over substance. There's nothing wrong with style and imagination, especially when Cameron does such a fine job of it. Avatar is a feast for the senses, a truly impressive achievement and sets the benchmark for all future movie worlds. But someone really needs to teach Cameron how to write dialog! Terminator and Aliens weren't bad, likely due to co-writers Hurd and Giler. Unfortunately, Avatar suffers from simplistic plot devices and truly juvenile dialog that really left us cold. (JuJuBees, Unobtanium – GMAB!) With a little more work (and a little less hubris) Avatar could have been so much more. Unfortunately, it is a truly stunning package surrounding a rather disappointing gift.

Really entertaining and thought provoking. They destroyed Earth (I mean their own planet) and proceeded to TAKE the Navajo (I mean Nav'i) planet for the Gold (I mean the unobtanium). How about the disregard for others and ignorance and superiority of the invaders? SO many real parallels to past events??? While the plot is fairly run of the mill, the world that James Cameron has created is breathtaking. The creation is on scale seldom seen in fiction's history. Complete with language, culture, wild-life, and vegetation, one could say that before Cameron, Tolkien was one of the few in history to create on such an imaginative, large scale. Tolkien still has Cameron, however, as he had a plot and history to go with his world. My only regret is not seeing Avatar for the first time in IMAX 3d instead of in regular 3d.
