Movies aren't supposed to be huge weekly box office hits in their fourth week. Someone forgot to tell all the people crowding the theatre about that. Everyone is talking about the spectacular special effects. Yes. They are that good. I've read the "This movie is just Pochahantas in space" posts on Facebook. It isn't. Sure there are elements that make one think of other films, but this film isn't Tron or Ferngully either. This film is Avatar. The story is deep, revealed at just the right pace, and engaging from start to finish. Are there political messages? Yes. Are there environmental messages? Yes. It this great entertainment with themes worth discussing? Yes.
Loved it. I can't wait for the next chapter.

Went to this movie not expecting anything, just wanted to see if the special effects were good. I was blown away!! Great progress in 3D tech, since last I had seen it!! My husband and I loved it!!! it has easily become our favorite movie, if not for the storyline, but also for the originality. We appreciate the time put into making it such an awesome film. The realness was amazing.

I so enjoyed this movie, I went back to see it for a second time in less than a week. The makers took a story line that is as old as mankind and gave it a stunningly beautiful & imaginative new spin.

The story is "Dances with Wolves" but in space. I wish I could say that was original to me, but my husband noticed the striking similarity in story and when he researched, he noticed that James Cameron admitted that the story is quite derivative of "Dances with Wolves."

We took our 5yr old to this last night, I was a little hesitant because of the rating. But he really wanted to see it and well... McDonald's is endorsing it with Happy Meals, so I figured it can't be too bad. The Movie was GREAT! It had a good story line and super special effects. We all loved it. I am glad that my son still has his innocence because there was some strong foul language in the movie, including "F" Bombs and "G.D." So these went over his head. And for this reason I caution Parents.
But yes, we loved it and would highly recommend seing the Movie.

Wonderfully done, start to finish. The film is gorgeous, the story and characters involving. Allegory to Native Americans everywhere you look. My wife doesn't like science fiction and she loved it.
The 3D was not as in-your-face or eye-popping as I was expecting, but I don't think it's meant to be. I think it was more "seeing" Pandora like we see our own world. I'd have to see it in 2D to truly compare.

I went with my son to see this movie because Science FIction is right up his alley and I just wanted to see a movie in 3D. I was surprised at how much I really enjoyed the movie. I have seen this twice in 3D. I generally am ambivalent about 3D films, but I think this one makes reasonable use of the current state of the technology.
Briefly, I think this film rocks. It's formulaic and predictable, and somewhat heavy-handed in its message, but it's beautifully done and enthralling. I've found it very easy to suspend disbelief (though that's usually not a problem for me anyway).
Personally, I think _Avatar_ is to the current state of the film industry what _Star Wars_ was when _it_ was released: a groundbreaking phenomenon. And it's good, and fun!

Great movie, the visual effects were fantastic and the movie never stopped keeping your attention! Everybody in the family loved it from our 10 year old to the 17 year old to me! Would recommend it to everyone!1!!!!!!!!!

I know its the next big thing, but the 3-d was mostly distracting. Of course with the story being as weak as it was, that wasn't a total bad thing, Finally it was too long by about 1/2 hour or so. Otherwise a good movie. I didn't think I would like a movie about blue people but I did.

This was a great total "escape" movie, very very cool special effects. The glowing forest plants and bugs were incredible to see, it felt real and you must see it in Imax, it's totally worth it! This is the best epic movie since Titanic or Gladiator
