My first 3d movie ever and what a first movie to see in that format. Incredibly stunning visually. Great movie all around. This will take the Oscar for visual effects...no question. As for the script, it was really good but not Oscar calibre. Casting, performances, soundtrack were all excellent. A must see in 3D.

I did not want to see this movie. But decided to give in and take my 7 year old daughter. We went to the 3D showing. I have not seen a 3D movie since I was a kid. Nothing like it was back then. I was sincerely amazed. My daughter and I were trying to grab stuff off the screen. The story and plot were wonderful. I was truly amazed. And his message came across with a bang.

the movie was great. it was an interesting story and hopefully people will come away from it thinking about the huiman issues (how aborginigal people are treated and our need to destroy things that are different) environmental issues (where we may one day exhaust all of the resources on Earth). Great love story. The effects were amazing. I hope they provide additional documentary type shows on how it was made. I hesitated seeing it but am really glad that I did.

Visually stunning masterpiece! You must see this in 3d to fully appreciate. People who are critical of the plot are missing a big part of it. The title of the movie is Avatar for a reason: the main character isn't just living among the natives trying to gain their trust, he's actually one of them (biologically speaking) and has the use of his legs again. I think seeing the entire storyline evolve through his eyes makes it take on a deeper meaning. If you open your mind and stop comparing it to other movies this film will win you over. Very well acted, also. James Cameron is wonderful at delivering epic cinema and this is one of the best movies I've experienced in my lifetime. I highly recommend it!

Definitely see it in 3D! Even with the hype, I still thought it was one of the best movies I have ever seen. It is a long movie, but you forget you are even watching a movie because you get so into the story and the characters. A must see!

The movie was awesome. It was like Brave New World with blue people. Superb visuals.
However, I do agree with the other reviews that the few curse words used throughout the movie were totally unnecessary and came across as really awkward.
Also, the storyline was far from perfect. True sci-fi peeps will spend the last hour of the flick wondering why a lot of things happened the way they did when clearly the blues were smart enough and populus enough to have come up with a waaaay better plan of attack on their own.

1st time I saw movie not 3D ( sold out), but loved it. Didn'tcry. 2nd time saw in 3D & became completely emotionally involved in story. Cried through 2/3. One of the best movies EVER. Must see on big screen - won't translate as powerfully on TV. So many life lessons - you want everyone you know to see it and take to heart. Previews cannot begin to entice. I would say this is the best movie I have ever seen. The 3D gives it such a different feeling. I'm not sure how it will do without it. The story is also beautiful and meaningful. Did not need the bad language. I had to explain some things before and after to my 10 year old son. He thought it was great movie as well. They make the world of Pandora seem very very real.

The film ripped off Pocohantas, Barbarella, Star Wars II (does Aboreal world ring a bell), a touch of Platoon and, of course, Fantasia. Obligatory scene followed obligatory scene. The blue skin, however, was impressive.
Couldn't the blue people merely drop LOGS into the rotors of the attacking aircraft???? Even a washed up gimp leatherneck marine could have figured that one out.

I didn't know what to expect since I didn't see any of the trailers. I was pleasantly surprised! I can honestly say that this was one of the best movies I have ever seen. Of course, best viewed in IMAX 3D!
