This was my first 3D experience. I didn't know what to expect: being attacked from the screen, gunfire directed at me, etc.???? However, it was quite the opposite: I felt as if I were there. The sense of flying over the landscape and running through the trees was thrilling! And the story was good too.

I LOVED the look and feel and felt that the beings almost made is past the "uncanny valley". (Google it if you don't know what I mean.) That was a huge accomplishment. Cameron spent so much on the look and feel of the movie that he forgot to include a good story and he forgot to ask the actors to actual ACT. Story was like scifi book you'd read in jr high and think was good.

This is what going to the movies is all about. Being entertained and enlightened. This two and half hour movie kept me thoroughly engrossed and I was not aware of the time that elapsed. Go out and enjoy. What an experience!!! Also, be sure to see it in wide screen 3D to get the real effect.

I saw this movie for the second time last night. The first time I saw it was in the normal '2D' format, this time was in 3D. It seems as though the movie was shot with a 3D experience in mind, there are many scenes where an object or environmental features seem to be coming at you, using the third dimension perfectly. Definitely worth seeing a second time just for the 3D aspect. Highly recommend it.

The visuals are indescribable. I wish they’d put more effort into the characters. All depth is in the background. Neither the heroes nor the villains display internal conflict. The heroes are noble; the villains corrupt. There is some internal conflict in the main guy, Jake. But really he just goes from ‘meh’ (I'm just here 'cause I don't have anything better to do), to ’yay’ (it’s great to have legs and feel stuff with my toes), then ‘oohhh’ (I was all ‘meh’, and my avatar use is like a drug addiction, but I talked to this tree, so I now I get it? Plus, I don't like being in a wheelchair). That said, I recommend seeing Avatar in theaters because a TV won’t do it justice, and you'll be left with flat characters and a Pocahontas storyline.

This was my first 3D movie I've seen. The story line was appealing to me & somewhat believable in a wonderful fantasy kind of way. I loved the concept of the creation of Avatars with human-like capabilities & super-human attributes in a majical forest with psychic powers. I heard all these children gasping & laughing during the show, so I would highly recommend it for children. I go to the movies to be entertained and this met all of my criteria!

The special effects through 3D made this the most awesome movie I've EVER seen in the movie theatre! I recommend that everyone see it on the big screen. I had friends/family that said they "weren't into Sci-Fi", etc., but, in my opinion, that is a moot point once you see the movie. Oh, and those people that said they weren't into "that type of movie" certainly changed their tune once they saw it. Again - AWESOME!!!

I'm OVER 50 and seen many flicks but AVATAR won my heart and sent many messages in relation to the world today. The FORESTS how they are being destroyed, how the primitive races are able to live, survive without destroying the environment and have appreciation for the food it provides for them thus "The QUICK and PERFECT kill" noted in the film. The forest being the core of their existence, network, heartbeat and Cameron shows perfectly how the balance can be thrown off and affect the most primitive of species. Cameron shows TECHNOLOGY is destructive than productive. Being a computer scientist, after viewing AVATAR, I'm almost ashamed of my profession. Best movie I've seen in OVER 50 YEARS. Thank you James Cameron for opening OUR EYES !!

The best thing about this movie was it's imagery, very creative. Adding 3D to that enhanced it, but not that much. The story had some good messages, but we have heard them before. It was a retelling of stories like Dances With Wolves & many others. Humans come and take from those with greater connection to their environment. Humans driven entirely by greed. Ultimately, there is a dense military dude intent on destruction. He even says that we must "fight terror with terror." Still, the movie has a good message that doesn't sink in with powers that be. The story was intense with plenty of action and excellent visuals.

This movie is simply amazing. It kept me on the edge of my seat for the whole 2 hours and 40 minutes. Transformers, Harry Potter, X Men, Year One, and more movies that I've watched sent me to sleep at some point in the movie. But this one didn't. The combination of real actors and not so fake looking graphics makes me love this movie even more. It was a whole new movie experience I've had in a long time.

I wasn't sure what to expect Sci-Fi meets GI Joe? I was a bit apprehensive to go see it. I was pleasantly surprised at how well written it was. Great visual effects! I took my teenagers as well as my 7 year old. No one was bored. I was afraid that my youngest wouldn't understand it. But even he GOT IT! I would recommend it to everyone.

The movie was well made. The plot, the setting, the conflict and solution, the special effects, and the cast were all great! There was nothing about Avatar, in my opinion, that merit the reaction of some viewers, namely, severe depression, suicidal thoughts, or disengagement from reality. Those people had to have been suffering from some sort of condition already, even if not diagnosed. From now on feeling blue is felling happy, like the Na'vi people.
