Pandora's wealth of color and beauty is fascinating, if not awe inspiring. Even though the movie was close to three hours, you didn't want it to end. The movie immerses you in this beautiful world, especially in D3D. One can only hope for more adventures from Pandora.

I went to Avatar with pretty low expectations. What I saw of the characters in promos did not impress me much.
However, I was AMAZED by the incredible visuals -- and the 3D was breathtaking! If you can't see this in 3D for whatever reason -- wait until you can.
The story was engaging (you can't go wrong with "The Hero's Quest" -- Joseph Campbell proved correct once again). The characters were also very well developed and the computer graphics so well done that I forgot that these weren't "real" actors on screen. It's amazing how far technical capabilities have come in the last 20 years.
A must see for all ages!

While i stil feel 3D movies are a bit of a gimmick, this film is as good as it gets with the glasses! The story is almost exactly like Hayao Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke... but still one of the most unique and fun experiences I have had at the theater in years! A MUST SEE!

It's a great space "western." I think it really should be viewed in 3D in an "IMAX" type theater for the full effect. I saw on a smaller screen and the 3D viewing was hampered by it. But definitely worth the money to see...but not for young children!

A movie you need to see in the theater. The CGI looked real and some of the scenes were breathtaking.
The storyline is your basic we are killing the earth mixed in with explorer meeting and falling in love with the native woman. Sort of Pochontas meets Dances with Wolves meets the Circle of Life.
Still enjoyable to watch, however would not recommend for children under 13. Scary creatures, violence, etc.

They say it has been in his mind for over a decade and the technology finally allowed him to do it---well it was worth the wait. By far the best 3-D technology I have ever seen and you actually found yourself believing that the characters were REAL. Beautifully photographed and a story tellers masterpiece, he lets these incredible characters develop over the course of nearly 3 hours that seemed like an hour. His imagination with the flora, fauna and creatures is amazing and we went away knowing we will go again!!!

I took my 13 year old daughter to see Avatar in Real3D yesterday. The 3D effects were absolutely stunning and I recommend it just for the experience. We both enjoyed the entire movie; never a dull moment. The plot is a bit predictable but the graphics and acting were so superb, it's a keeper. I'll be buying the Blu-Ray when it comes out. I am a big Cameron fan and own Alien, Aliens, T1 and T2 and the Abyss all in Blu-Ray. This will be an excellent addition to my Cameron collection.

This movie completely changes the way you'll think about special effects in movies. I could not tell where the real and the unreal was in this movie. Everything blended together seamlessly. I went with my husband and 13 year old son. We all really enjoyed the movie. While there were a few items that seemed forced or overdone (the smoking scenes and stereotypical military types), the overall reaction was a Feast for the senses. The story was believable and familiar with a refreshing new twist. The conflict resonated a pang of guilt of confrontations in our history. It was easy to identify with the characters, the love story and the perfectly balanced symbiotic society. Not that we have that type of society but that we aspire to such a society. The story was intensely visual, exciting, reflective, and a masterful technical accomplishment. I would see it again.

Watching Avatar is the same cathartic experience as going to a Trans-Siberian Orchestra. And the same downside - it makes all other concerts, or movies in this case, look bland by comparison. It's not about suspension of disbelief, it disbelief that the world you see so vividly and detailed before your eyes is not real. Unlike any other 3D movies I have seen before, the 3D is natural rather than forced. Depth perception is human equivalent rather than the forced things that jump at you. Every little thing is gorgeous and tell me if the forest at night doesn't give you goose bumps.
On the downside, I really have to question whether this movie will look good in plain ol' 2D when they release it on DVD & BR.

I didn't want to watch this at first, thinking it's just a typical animated movie yada yada yada, but since I promised my friend, I went. It turned out to be amazing with the detailed graphics, and the quality and elements of how this movie is made surpassed my expectation. This is one of the movies where it's definitely worth your money going to the theater, and going 3D.

This film has everything you would expect of a typical blockbuster. It has accomplished what it has set out to do in becoming one of the most technically astounding films. The graphics and detail of the movie are amazing. 3D adds a nice touch, but still has a ways to go before wide adoption in the cinema industry. Scientific accuracy is also not neglected. Further, the plotline is nothing terribly exciting, but is exotic and complex enough that the viewer is drawn into the story. Cameron, in Avatar, has achieved all-around success in movie-making, but ultimately, fails to convey why such level of detail and technical aspects to moviemaking are necessary when all one really needs are good writers.

There is something about watching a movie that sort of turns out the way you would hope. Even the storyline is one that is used often. Outsiders learns the ways of the indigenous people and ends up defending them, "Dances with Wolves" is an example. In this case just the right twist to a familiar story to suck us in happily. There are just the right amout of new elements in the plot to hold our interests and at the same time not get too complicated. This film is higly entertaining, good for the whole family and visually stunning. The new 3D is perfect.
