My husband and I took three of our grandkids ages 14,12 and 7 to see this at an afternoon show. We all really liked it. My seven year old grandson sat through 2 hours and 40 minutes of this movie and did not move during the entire showing. He was completely enthralled.

Special effects? Great. Gorgeous to look at. That's where it stopped for me. About the writing, he used a template of a gazillion other B movies. In between wow's over the artwork and special effects, I often found myself bored. That may be why I found it too long, or may be it really was too long. The person I went with liked the movie but felt it ran 30 minutes too long.

I did not want to see this movie, but I am so glad that I did. It was an incredible experience ... a complete and total mental escape ... visually beautiful ... fascinating effects ... and an interesting, captivating story. The time FLEW by, and I typically do not like a long movie. I would highly recommend seeing this movie and seeing it at the theatre where you can fully appreciate all of the effects. This movie was AMAZING and HUGELY entertaining.

Really great entertainment. After hearing the buzz about the technology involved in making it, I was afraid it would be all about the special effects. The visual details of this movie were riveting. True 3D, whether the view was head-on or from the side, a fantastic experience in itself. Glasses were unobtrusive - worn over corrective glasses - and I forgot I had them on most of the time, Much better than anything that came before that I've seen. For whatever reason, the movie kept my attention through out its entire length. Re the plot, well, it's been told before but never in such a setting or imagery. Hope to see the use of this technology expand.

This movie was purely a demonstration of top-of-the-line CGI technology. Gorgeous scenery and outstanding environments coupled with a storyline that is just plain tired. All this with TOTALLY UNECESSARY swear words thrown in haphazzardly for dialog emphasis. What a bunch of $4i+ there!! The Real D 3D was not worth it at all. There were no outreaching visuals like water splashes or something reaching out to grab you. Most of the 3D visuals just fell off as they hit the edge of the screen. Even the bugs flying around didn't provide the sense they were right in front of your face. It just wasn't done '3D right'. Overall, the action was good and the movie was fun. This movie definitely sets the bar for future CGI.

Avatar was so good that I had to see it a 2nd time. Very rarely am I able to get my wife to a sci-fi. She came reluctantly and left w/ her cup running over. This film touches on so many relevant themes that anyone who's alive can surely appreciate: custodians of the Earth, connectedness to one another (PAST & PRESENT) and the planet, greed, domination, love, jealousy and respect for life just to name a few. This film was pure eye candy too. There was never a dull moment and the 2hr 40min film flew by. I could have gone longer; no trouble.

This is what I think about with all the people of found this to be a good movie. Where is the story? And haven't we seen this all before? The big bad company (Alien) with the big bad military (Dances with Wolves) come to destroy the natives who just are so in touch with nature. The story is not good and not original. This movie is dumber than Titanic when a person really stops to evaluate it.

This movie has something for every one. Action,fantasy, sci-fi,romance. The setting is beautiful. It will make you want to live there. To me there is an undertone relating to the Ameican Indians, you know how their way of life was destroyed by the white man, and how they had a love of the natural world.. I am sure others will find a philosophical theme that pertains to there personal beliefs. You won't be disappointed.
