AVATAR 3-d was spectacular, best visual experience I've had ever in a theater. The animation was extreme, I believed the pandorans were real and fell for their plight. The colors and luminescence are surreal and reminded me of deep sea scenes. The creatures were unique and again believable. I am going again this week and paying extra for the 3-D effect was fine.

I feel compelled to give Avatar 5 stars because it really was visually stunning and highly entertaining. But I can't. Though the screenplay was, indeed, quite superior to many other recent comparable blockbuster scifi/fantasies, it was overindulgent. The script, much of the action -- all very, very indulgent, to such a degree that on at least 4 occasions I was compelled to turn to my companion sitting next to me, raise my eyebrow and laugh, wondering how many takes it took the actors to maintain a straight face shooting whatever particular scene. But this really only added to the entertainment factor. If you have a taste for the baroque, what are you doing reading this? Go see the movie. In 3D.

I went to see this movie in 3D with my 11 yr old daughter and we loved it! Much better to see in 3D because the fantasy land where the Avatars go to seems more magical with the 3D. And the action sequences more engaging too. Great movie to see with the family - we loved it!

James Cameron is a first class movie maker, and I enjoyed this film, however rather then write a movie with a novel plot and characters (examples Terminator, Aliens,) we get the same old corporate greed scenario that Hollywood loves to smear the rest of society with. I got it, OK! As I see it, in any war there isn’t just good people on one side and bad on the other, there are good and bad on both, greed on both. The intermix on both sides would make for a more interesting film. After all why are there warriors and rulers in the Navi if they all sing kumbaya around the tree? Instead we get attacks on the US military,. Gee we travel into the future and find not stormtroopers of starwars fame but Marines right off camp Pendleton yesterday

A very entertaining and beautiful film. The story is familiar but none the less engaging, and contains a not so subtle environmental message. The polarized 3D, which has been used on other recent films, is well used to help bring you into the story and is not used as a frequent gag as in so many other 3D films. The technology is great, looking forward to seeing more of it. At least until something is developed to show 3D films without any glasses at all...

The character development, story and special effects worked very well together and kept me from ever being bored. Ashamed to admit it, but I've already seen the movie twice; once in 2D and a second time in 3D. I hardly ever watch movies even a second time, but I will go back for a third round in IMAX 3D.
The first time I ever witnessed a standing ovation after a film was the original Rocky. The only other time was last night after Avatar. So many 5 star reviews... looks like a big hit for Cameron!

The only other time I've ever felt like this at the movies was watching Star Wars for the first time...a totally new genre. This film was more than a movie, it was a complete experience. Wonderfully conceived, the story had everything...action, romance, beauty, spirituality. Watching this movie in 3D is as close to being a part of a dream world as one can get.

Unbelievable and so realistic. i was a bit concerned taking 3 kids ages 6-8 to a movie that was almost 3 hours (including 15 minutes of trailers), but the movie held everyone's undivided attention for that long.

Wow! That's what we thought after seeing AVATAR! It was the prettiest movie I've ever seen! The story was great, it was, familiar, and some parts a bit expected, but it was okay, the movie was still wonderful! Flows well, and really captures you and makes you feel for the characters. I saw Avatar in 3D at the Quail Springs theater in Oklahoma City last night. There are not enough words to describe how beautiful this movie is on so many levels. The story was great, the concept was great, the art was outstanding. There aren't too many times in my life that I can remember being reduced to tears by artistic beauty alone, but both me and my 28 year old son were. I'm so in awe of the outstanding work that went into this movie. I highly recommend it, and if you can, see it in 3D. We're going back next weekend to see it in IMAX 3D. I can't wait!!

This is a magical, lucid, black lit, vivid dream brought to the surface, a mirror to some of the intense beauty and horror filled environmental dilemmas facing our world. Like the character Jake Sully, I did not want to have to "wake up" when the credits rolled.
The reverent and lyrical mixing of cultural mythos, the vivid level of detail and timeliness of this movie being released at the end of the failed (well I think so) Copenhagen talks all resonate with me.

Suspend reality for 3 hours and do yourself a favor by seeing Avatar. What a great movie. Plenty of political overtones (9/11/01, War in Iraq, climate change, corp. greed,, etc.) and cinematic tributes to several great movies (Braveheart, Apocalypse Now, Star Wars, etc.). The special effects take it to the next level. Had to remind myself I was not playing a video game.
It is really good. I was a little reluctant to believe the hype but it is really to the next level - like Star Wars was for science fiction 30+ years ago. The merging of animation and video has become a reality. Great storyline, too.

Avatar 3D sets the standard for future movies. I doubt I will attend another movie that is not 3D. It is the difference between black & white TV and color TV.
The plot was, as several noted, "dances with smurfs", with Pantheism tossed in, and the bad guys were the Left's traditional boxing dummies, consumerism and corporate America, but, from Hollywood, that's not new, so I ignore it.
What is NEW is the stunning realism of the graphics, combined with the vivid imagination of James Cameron, to give believability to what one saw on the screen, as long as you suspend your understanding of Physics and Biology in some scenes.
All in all, it is the best Sci Fi movie I have ever seen.

Avatar 3D movie was the best movie I have seen in a long time. It actually had a plot line, a cast that was rounded out with real actors as well as the Avatar characters, and the screen settings were fantastic....vivid colors thst popped off the screen, realistic looking panarama and plants, animals and characters that dazzled the brain. A must see again movie.
