The 3D was fantastic, more than once I jumped convinced I about to be hit by something coming right out of the screen. The most stunning effects are the most subtle, as you look over cliff edges, down from trees branches..your stomach flips and you push back into your seat. The plot, well best described by fellow movie goer "Custer attacks the Indians and the Indians get Custer. Sure there's the larger message, but 2 hours 40, please.

Good basic story of good vs evil and the conflict of duty vs what is right, but VERY predictable plot. The special effects were everything that the hype led you to believe. Just a seamless blend of real to animation and the 3D effects were very good and not over used. Well worth seeing in the theater in 3D

I liked that the movie was shot in 3 D. Some scenes prove to be long and a bit boring, like when they huddle around the tree.
Would loved to see more action but overall it's a movie to watch only in the theatres to capture the imagination of James Cameron. He focused on mother Nature and how wonderful it can be.

This is one of the best movies of all time. Absolutely stunning visuals, special effects and story. Alot of money went into this one but he will more than get it back at the box office. I saw it in 3D but am definitely going back to watch it in IMAX. This is a must-see movie.

I thought this was a very good movie, the special effects are good, not convinced that the 3D was necessary but it was done well. The story is a classic underdog fairy tale and it is done well... a good mixture of laughs and frowns... lots of different emotions are explored. Very indicative of how we treated the Native Americans in the history of the US. I would recommend this movie for all ages... it was a lot of fun and the FX certainly are great.

The visuals, battle scenes, animation, colors and concepts in this movie all come together into a spectacular and amazing movie that is truly a feast for the senses! My wife, 3 sons (ages 11, 10 and 5) and I sat through the movie without getting up once, which is tough to do for 2 hours and 40 minutes... especially with our 5 year old... This movie is a must see for all. Do not miss the 3-D experience!

All I wanted for Christmas was to see Avatar in 3D. I did and it surpassed all expectations! I have never been so enthralled in a movie before. I loved every second. I've come to think of James Cameron as an egotistical, self-indulgent fake, but he pulls it off in this one. Incredible visuals in terms of the landscapes, the Na'vi people, the machines, even the computers. See it in 3D if you can, as it really works.

I saw Avatar in the morning in 3D, and as I was walking out of the theater, I wanted to go back and see it again. I did later that day. I may go see it again today. It's been some time since I saw a movie that literally made me feel as good as Avatar did. Good storyline, great effects, and the emotions it derrived from this viewer are almost indescribable. James Cameron has translated a beautiful vision into a film that transports you to another place and time. The 3D effects were outstanding, and not used to "Wow" the audience, but rather to make the avatar world seem more real. The story line is not particularly ingenious or original. The strength of this film is in the film-makers art. And while it is easy to ignore the actors in a film like this, I think they did a great job. There is always a tendency in sci-fi and fantasy films to make the characters into caricatures, with the heros being too noble and the bad guys being rank villians. The cast of Avatar manged to stay "human", even when they looked decidedly non-human.

While the story line was lame and all too predictable, the technical excellence of the movie was super. I haven't since such good 3D since the 1950's when "House of Wax" and others were produced.
Hopefully, this technology can become cheaper and more movies will use it. Now we need to develop 3D without glasses. That will be the tops.

The whole family went to see this movie & all of us left the theater in awe. The plot was good, the 3D was not overdone, the characters were believable (except for Parker) & we were entertained. This is worth seeing in the theater & a night out with the family! You will not be disappointed.
