The only reason I gave it 4 not 5 stars was because of my expectations of the combination of Tim Burton, Disney, and 3D IMAX-- it fell a little short. The 3D effects seemed more intense in the previews, as far as things coming out at you, but in overall depth perception, the inagery was awesome. And anything Jonny Depp touches in my mind is brilliant. I liked the story and the characters and thought the movie moved quite quickly and smoothy.

3D is working great so far with Avatar and now this. The movie itself starts a little slow in the "real world", but once it gets into Wonderland it just moves along. The plot is cool because it's not a rehash of the cartoon version from so many years ago, but a continuation instead (didn't know that ahead of time). The characters are well portrayed, there is humor spliced throughout, and the action is solid as well. The best part, as usual, is the visual representation of Wonderland in a 3D context. The experience in IMAX was superb. I really enjoyed this film and hope there will be a follow up.

This was so very enjoyable to watch. It was a little "darker" than I thought it would be, but I guess that's to be expected from Tim Burton. Johnny Depp wows as the Mad Hatter (no surprise there) and Helenna Bonam-Carter was excellent in her role as the Red Queen -- definitely the most amusing character. I particularly appreciated the ending, as I think most young women will. It reminded me never to loose my "muchness". Absolutely recommend.

Amazing what can be done with modern graphics. Alice's world felt more than a dream, it appeared much like I remembered feeling when the stories were first read to me. Everything was familiar, but strange, different and surprising. Both IMAX and 3D were helpful in bringing you into the realm and the wonder of it all.
The tale was NOT "Alice in Wonderland", but a clever variation on the story that made it even better. It was as if Alice had been there, before, ... and so had you, but not such you could remember it, exactly. Familiar, yet unknown.
The actual "story" is very clever in it's introduction and unfolding, but then lacked originality in moving to completion. It became predictable and a normal, logical progression, lacking the flair of the beginning and of the books, as well. The ending is sweet and satisfying.
I will enjoy watching the film, again.

Even if this movie was not ever offered in 3D, Depp would still make it enjoyable. He and Burton has a way of making their films "click" with all ages. Depp has really come a long way on his climb to stardom and this childhood fantasy tale has proven that he just keeps getting better and better. I loved every minute of this extraordinarily entertaining movie. I loved the way Burton melded the original with the new and integrated several other Lewis Carroll texts into it. Not a line or a leaf was out of place. "Underland" is just as I imagined it.
I saw it in IMAX 3D, a technology that is nearing perfection. Crisp, clear and stunningly rich with layers and layers of complexity. I'll have to see it again and again to catch all the nuances.

I didn't feel any connection with the characters, they seemed to lack depth. Maybe I was suppose to have already had that connection from the book, but I didn't have it. As for the fx, maybe it was my glasses and I saw in IMAX, but everything seemed a bit drab and cloudy. Ok so that's part of the dreamworld? I guess my dreams have a different color scheme.
Acting was ok, nothing special on either side for me. I think Depp stood out a bit because a lot of focus was on his facial features (was it me or were they a bunch of facial close-ups in this movie?). I kept staring at the black makeup/void on his teeth to make the gap everything Depp was on screen.
All in all I won't rent/buy/netflix it once it comes out on disc.

IMAX 3D is the only way to visually get the most out of what you're watching. That being said, the 3D effects of a movie can overcompensate for what the movie lacks on it's own. Johnny Depp was superb. As was the annoying red queen, Bonham Carter. If you're familiar with Alice, you will find the plot overly simplified as if it were meant for a child visiting Wonderland for the first time. One thumb up.

So Alice was not what I expected at all. I almost wish they had stuck to the main story, instead of just using the characters. For my husband who has never seen the Disney Alice in Wonderland it was not an enjoyable experience for him at all. He was lost as he didn't know what the hell was going on. But for those of you who aren't interested in the 3D part, it would have been just as good a story without it (just not as cool!). I really liked the story, it was a great sequal to a great set of books. :) The casting was perfect! I loved Alice, the Hatter, and the Red Queen. :) I still wish someone (and apparently Tim Burton would be a good choice) would do Alice in Wonderland & Through the Looking Glass with all the latest technology, but I'm pretty sure no one will. :(

I took my 10 year old niece to this movie and we both thoroughly enjoyed it! Seeing a movie in IMAX 3D really makes it that much more spectacular, I don't see how you can miss!

Burton's imagination shines in this tale based on more than one Lewis Carroll work. The background scenery is marvelous; the story line quite good; and the acting/voicing is excellent.

I was unsure because everyone said it wasn't going to be good, but I thought it was FANTASTIC! It was funny it was visually so different and had dark feel because of Tim Burton but really a light premise. Never listen to people before they actually see a movie...Judge it for yourself. It took me back to being a little kid.

I don't like movies where the special effects are the only good think about a movie. I really didn't know the full Alice in Wonderland story. Never read the book. This movie is very well acted, well made and the special effects (especially the 3D) are just stunning. If you want to be entertained, this is the movie to go to right now!
