Imax was amazing! I saw things the second time that I did not see the first time seeing it in just 3D. 3D Imax is the way to see movies from now on! Johnny Depp can play anything and make you believe he truly is that character at that moment. The entire cast was wonderful.

Nicely done and would recommend. 3D wasn't so spectacular like Avatar; probably would see it in 2D if I could do it over again. But I definitely would see it.

Good Movie. Great "twist" on the old familiar story, which is explained and tied together at the end. Definitively made for an older audience. Not a must see 3D movie though unlike Avatar.

Tim Burton at his creative and weirded out best. A visual feast. A remarkable and effective cast. A nice detour from the original story. The younger children in the theatre grew a little restless, so my guess is at least 6. Some bothersome visuals, for tiny ones as well. The 3D was a nice touch, depth-giving without too many obvious 3D shots. Really liked it. Want to see it again. There was so much going on, I'm pretty sure I missed some really good stuff.

This was an overall cute movie that touched all of the points I expected but did not run as long as I feel it should have – if felt rushed. The IMAX 3D was okay on this movie, granted the entire movie was 3D, however there were places that seemed lacking in production time. Overall, good movie; it felt as if you were in a window watching it all happen live, but I still do not think it’s worth seeing in IMAX, poor value for what the experience delivered on this particular film. If I were to be able to do it over, I’d just see it in regular Disney 3D or the standard screen.

It took a few minutes to get used to the IMAX 3D but it was really cool in the end. The actors were great in their roles, and the look of Wonderland was very detailed and eye appealling. As usual, Johnny Depp jumped right into the Mad Hatter role flawlessly.

This movie is certainly a different spin on Alice, it's not the classic Disney animated version. Once i got past that point (which didn't take long) I thoroughly enjoyed it. 3-D IMAX adds more and more levels to the cinematic story.
Embedded in all of the action and fantastic effects is the tale of the "hero's journey". Alice is confronted with a crisis, she goes through a series of trials until she reaches a realization. The final test for Alice brings about a transformation, she emerges from the rabbit hole a changed person.
The acting was superb. I'm not a Johnny Depp fan, but he made me a believer in this film, I ended up caring for his character by the end of the movie.
The negative criticisms, which can apply to a lot of movies today --- TOO LOUD, too fast.
I don't know if I would have liked this movie as much if I saw it in a different format, probably not. I found it engrossing, or, as the posters say: an immersive experience. This has gotten me back into the movie theater. I hope it progresses past the cartoons in 3-D stage soon, though the remake of Ray Harryhausen's classic "Clash of the Titans" looks like it might be good.
I recommend this movie even if you're not a Tim Burton or Johnny Depp fan.

This was my first ever 3D Imax experience and I was amazed. I was worried about the crispness and clarity with a 3D movie, but Disney does not let you down. I am a huge fan of Tim Birton movies and this is one that should not be missed. Do not short change yourself and check this movie out in Imax 3D.

Far better graphic compilation than Avatar. The colors and movements more lifelike than Avatar. There were times in both Avatar and Alice that were slow but the effects for both movies are incredible. I agree IMAX 3D is here to stay and regular 3D will soon go away. Both movies are excellent in this new wave of cinematography and looking forward to more of its kind! Just hold your ears--very loud! We can now say goodbye to "What Dreams May Come."

No one could be bored for a moment in this production. If anything the pace is a little too quick in the beginning. We don't get much chance to really take in many of the early characters and scenes.
This film is based on the second book rather than the first - that might be the cause of some people's confusion/criticism - so it's about the Jabberwocky, not the chess game. Look for the moment when Depp delivers the poem "Jabberwocky" while walking through the forest. One of the best poetry readings you'll ever see, as far as I'm concerned.
Depp's character is ever-changing in this film, so one minute it's jolly, the next creepy, and another almost affectionate. It works, though, and complements - or even sets - the mood of the film at those points. And I don't think he should ever do another film without a trademark hat that is part of the plot.
Anne Hathaway's breezy white witch character, with her fluttering little fingers in the air, was benignly amusing.
If I were to criticize it at all, it would be that some scenes - the battle scene between Alice and the Jabberwocky ... and then that head, and the stairs! - are a little over the top, in a laughable way that I don't think the film intends.
Ultimately, while the film does argue for women's lib in a big way, it also mocks physical difference, which is perhaps counter-productive.
Still, an enjoyable evening overall.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This movie was delivered in a similar quality to Avatar, that is it was extermely well put together technologically and from an editing perspective .I feel like such intense effects inherentely takes something away from the story. This was certainly the case with Avatar, but was supsringly less the case here. Good move with a fairly compelling story. Well done overall. I would recommend this.

Burton did a great job with his interpretation of this this classic. We saw this on IMAX 3-D, which we usually love, however, to be honest I would recommend to anyone who hasn't seen it, save yourself the extra $$ and skip the 3-D version. Pre-purchasing tickets online is the way to go - it made the whole experience much more relaxing. The theatre is great with good viewing from all seats. Strengths of the film: because of Johnny Depp and the visual treats and surprises, the movie is suitable for any and all ages. My 18- and 25- year old sons and husband went with me only to be nice to me, but then they enjoyed it. Depp and the Red Queen are the absolute stars and you enjoy every moment of their performances, but really the entire cast was genius. I think it would have been better if the director had not slipped into the contemporary template so much - this story obtains its power from the fact that things which at first glance appear whimsical and charming, actually turn out to be menacing. He loses that by making everything dark and bleak and menacing in the first place. See if you agree with me!

I think this was a great adaptation of the classic even though it did not stick strictly to the original book.
Johnny Depp, Mia and Helena Bonham Carter were excellent in their roles. In the previews I thought that Johnny Depp would be creepy. I was concerned about that because after all this IS a childhood fairytale, but I was glad to see that this was not so.
I disagree with critics who said that Helena stole the show. I think all three of the main characters were superb.
The 3D effects were sublime. You felt like you fell into the Rabbit Hole and you were living it with Alice.
I won't give away the end, but I wasn't disappointed in the ending at all (even though part of me wanted the Mad Hatter's desire to be her decision).

I wasn't sure of how good this might turn out given the Burton treatment. It was better than expected and the characters really showed themselves rather than being glossed over in favor of Depp or Bonham-Carter. A nice story that surely revolves around Alice and includes a nice touch from her last visit. Imax 3D wasn't as crisp or sharp as I got from Avatar in non Imax 3D but surely a "must see" movie experience.

Some reviewers wrote that the film is scary or more like a horror film. I completely disagree. I believe Tim Burton toned down his scariness for this movie. Unfortunately, Burton's strength is in horrific images. He never has images that are as creepy as say a Saw film or Rob Zombie, because he tends to have a vision that is full of playful, child-like horrors. Because he has this ability, I thought a film like Alice in Wonderland would be perfect for him. I was wrong. One thing that Burton always struggles with is telling a good story. Although he should have had the book to guide his storytelling, I questioned his ability to comprehend and analyze a truly fascinating tale. He should stick to making creepy images within a film and work with a talented screenwriter to provide the story.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
