I totally got that the movie was really "Alice Returns to (W)Underland" so I was glad that Burton released himself from trying to do a childs movie. Selfishly, I would have liked to see a few more nods to the Disney classic hidden within the movie, but I felt Burton's rendition was valid and enjoyably Burtonesque! Being 3D gave it the "worth seeing in the theater" edge to validate the ticket price, but without it the movie would be just another 'Wait for video release". Personally I am sick to death of Helena Bonham Carter's face showing up every time Burton does a movie, but I understand that it probably keeps the peace in his household. The rest of the cast seemed to really enjoy themselves and breathed great life into the characters! The best part in the theatre was when the catepillar spoke and you could here "it's Snape" being whispered throughout the seats! Overall it's a great popcorn movie, but per Burton usual, not really for children under 8 ...especially if they have already read the books.

I am a fan of Tim Burton movies and a love watching movies in 3-D so this was perfect! Johnny Depp was spectacluar as the Mad Hatter and the supporting cast was excellent! Definitely a great film!

Went to watch it with my 8 year old daughter. Johnny Depp shines through with his superb performance and excellent make up. Awesome special effects. Some scenes were a little scary, but overall a great movie. A must watch movie.

My DH and I attended a Saturday matinee, IMAX, 3-D. We thoroughly enjoyed the production with it's unique take on the story (or rather, a continuation of the story), the phenomenal costuming, quirky dialogue, special affects, and creative story telling. Certainly the IMAX 3-D experience enhanced the movie, however, this would still be enjoyable without those features.
We are not necessarily fans of Tim Burton (though who doesn't enjoy Johnny Depp?), and the movie exceeded our expectations. Fans of Burton and his unique style might be disappointed (my adult children's evaluation) because he has set the bar so high with his fans, but we found it to be thoroughly entertaining.

Saw this movie on a Saturday afternoon. It was very enjoyable. Thought it was suitable for all ages. Even though I don't think the little ones would sit still with those glasses on for very long. Johnny Depp as always did a wonderful job of bringing the character to life.

My husband and I saw Alice in Wonderland last evening, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The casting was right on, and the look of the movie was quite amazing. If you like Tim Burton movies and Johnny Depp I would strongly recommend this awesome flick. Since I never read Lewis Carroll's original Alice, I'm not sure how much poetic license the film maker took, but I went for the entertainment and I wasn't disappointed!

Incredible movie, I went with my 17 year old daughter because none of her friends wanted to see it~BIG mistake, It was so enjoyable, and I haven't smiled through a movie for awhile, Johnny D. was wonderful and the new wave of Disney illustration was exciting~!! I heard this movie wasn't suitable for kids but, I did not think it was too bad. I would take my Grandson but didn't because of the remarks from other people. There were a few scenes that were questionable for children but I am sure most see worse in the day to day cartoons on television.

I was not a fan of Tim Burton, but when the grandkids asked I just had to trail along. Within moments of the start of the movie my imagination was captivated and I knew I was watching something wonderful. I am a fan of the Alice books. I can still recite from memory the Jabberwocky poem. I really loved this movie. They touched on all the major themes of the books and put center stage one of my favorite parts...the Jabberwocky. The 3D effects were not my reason for going, but seeing it in 3D IMAX was a visual treat...a reason to go to the theater. My husband had not read the Alice books, but does enjoy Tim Burton movies. He said this movie was "so so" for him. And like Rocky Horror, some people came to the theater in Alice drag. It's bound to have a cult following.

Aside from a brilliant Mad Hatter interpretation by Johnny Depp, I really did not find anything that I could recommend about this movie. The story is beyond predictable, and not really all that well told. The visuals are average and the 3D effects are surprisingly weak. I watched Avatar in the same theater weeks ago, I was mesmerized by Avatar; I was in disbelief that Alice was even playing in the same theater. The Red Queen is delightful at times, but is too much of a one trick pony. Actually two tricks: an over-sized head, and an "off with his head" battle call. And what was Ann Hathaway thinking? Her characterization of the White Queen is at best awkward and at worst amateurish. Overall, too much scenery, not enough story, mediocre acting (except Depp), and poor 3D.

Tim Burton, Johnny Depp, and Helena Bonham Carter are a genius team that could bring a unique and quirky take on life to anything. I loved this "sequel" where Alice goes back to Wonderland thirteen years later and even though my memory of the old Alice and Wonderland was sketchy, I followed the story smoothly. The new Alice does a great job of blending with the geniuses she acts with (Anne Hathaway seems to be the only one who doesn't belong). There's also a lot of tricky CGI for the cartoon characters and Alice's re-sizing issues, but they all did a wonderful job of making it seem so real and believable. I never once thought about it or questioned them, which shows how incredible they are as actors.Tim Burton is a genius!

I think that Tim Burton and Alice in Wonderland were made for each other. He did a great job of creating the wonderfully twisted world of the story.

This was the best Burton-Depp movie yet. They stuck ,almost, to the book. These are two of my favorite movie duos anyway, but I will see this movie again, and for me that is unusual. Helena was great as the red queen, and of course, Johnny was the best. The technology definately worked in this movie and the characters were marvelous. Will recommend everyone see the movie in IMAX.

This is an interesting adaptation of the Wonderland story, and Tim Burton's usual flair for fascinating visuals and odd characters is fully present and enjoyable. Sadly, the 3D effect is pretty weak and often looks like a gimmicky afterthought. More sadly, the movie still seems to drag a bit even at 1:49. But it was good enough.

Expecting another lame kids story or remake, I was pleasantly surprised to find this movie added some new twist to the old story. The plot line followed much of the books, but there were some alterations of characters and plot to build to a more climatic end.
After seeing Avatar in 3D and then seeing this in 3D with iMax, I have to say, Avatar wins out. I'd have to say this movies recreation got an "A." For me, the let down was the some unresolved plot lines.
If you're just looking for an amazing studio generate movie and neat affects, it's well worth the money.

Alice in Wonderland has many cartoon-ish aspects to it, blending in real life characters. The battle scenes were outstanding! I thought the beginning could have been shortened, but it all made sense at the end. Pure joyful entertainment and clean fun for children AND adults alike.

The current technology in making films is finally allowing movie makers to make their vision perfectly shown on screen. This is how Alice should be seen with all of the colors and effects. You could argue that the 2D version is good enough, and I would agree, but seeing it one time in 3D or at IMAX 3D, like I did, let me see the vision of Tim Burton better.

The cast was good but too many slow spots. Glad I saw it but wouldn't give it a rave review for friends to rush out and see. If it's convenient to see it and you don't have much else going on, then by all means. As always, the 3D IMAX impact pushes it over the top.

For the first time in a long time, I really felt like I got my money's worth. Loved the special effects (IMAX, 3D).
This was not only a gorgeous movie to see and experience, it was fun!
New Jersey audiences tend to be a tough sell. The packed house I watched with applauded at the end. It was that good.

The Imax 3D version gets high ratings for bringing you into the movie. I don't think any other versions would have had as high a rating as the story is average and predictable. But if you like Johnny Depp and rich fantasical environments, this is an awsome flick to see in the Imax 3D... Oh, and it may not be appropriate for younger children as some of the creatures are fierce.
