It could hardly be said that I live under a rock but...I've never read nor seen "Alice in Wonderland" before this IMax 3D version. I was stunned at the depth of the story, amazed at the creativity shown in the characters, and blown away by the effects. The movie was just riveting. Johnny Depp was, as usual, at the top of his game, and Mia and the others were just a perfect blend.

I thought this movie was awesome! the Imax screen always makes movies look better but it also being in 3D made it even better...I felt like I was really in the movie. when she was running through the woods I couldn't help but dodge the tree limps too. But it was really good, Johnny Depp did a great job of playin the mad hatter. I thought the whole thing was great.

I went to this picture not knowing what to expect. I vaguely remembered Alice in Wonderland from my childhood years. I took my mother in law, my sister-in-law, my wife and my daughter to the movie with me. It was the first 3D movie for everyone but my wife and me. It was the second time in an IMAX theatre and let me tell it was well worth the money. The overall effect wraps you and engulfs you in the film itself. I thought the CG was outstanding and the story was a little fresh but overall it was well worth it. 2D or dvd will never do it justice. I highly recommend this movie!!

WOW! Awesome movie! I think you need to have read the book in order to get the full effect from this movie. Those that do not know the story might find it a bit confusing. I loved when the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp) was making hats for the Red Queen. Very Edward Scissor Hands! And when he fought against the red army, well, very Captain Jack Sparrow! Loved how they connected it! Special effects were fabulous! That caterpillar was such a smart a**!! Loved him! And who doesn't want a Cheshire cat now? We saw the movie last Friday night (3/19/10) & when we came out, the moon was in the sky in such a way that it looked like the Cheshire cat smiling at us! Way COOL! I definitely recommend this movie~

Really enjoyed the movie. My mom and two sisters all joined me to watch the movie. My two sisters had already seen in it in a regular 3D theater and said the IMAX was not much difference. Was a little dissappointed in that regards. Have nothing bad to say about the movie. Loved Johnny Depp, such a great actor!

Four of us went to the IMAX, and LOVED the movie. Great special effects, costumes, etc. Johnny was AMAZING, and Alice was perfect! I particularly liked that the ship at the end was named "WONDER". Great fun!!

The Underland of Alice in Wonderland is not Tim Burton's first wonderous creation. One need look no farther than such films as Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow, Planet of the Apes, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Sweeney Todd to see the others.
With each of his films Burton has created a world of its own, holding his audience enraptured with everything from brilliant colors and engaging camerawork to characters brimming with loneliness, alienation, and despair and yet always the hint of hope. These films are bound not only by Buron's consistent use of the same actors and behind-the-scenes personnel but also by his consistency of themes, imagery, and emotional depth.
Alice in Wonderland, the timeless text that has been reinterpreted numerous times through the years since first told by the man using the pen name Lewis Carroll, is a good match for Burton and his world-creating skills. Burton's Underland is gorgeously beautiful with amazing colors and enticing images everywhere the eye can see, reminiscent of both Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Edward Scissorhands. Burton weaves a new tale of an adult Alice who returns to Underland after forgetting her journey there as a child. The story, camerawork, music, and acting blend together seamlessly to form a truly amazing and engaging wonderland.
And this wonderland is truly Burton's to its core, including an homage to the title character of Edward Scissorhands by way of the topiary sculptures that are seen from Alice's first entry into Underland and most prominently in front of the Red Queen's castle in the shape of her head. There are other tips of the hat to Burton's oeuvre, most notably the "cat signal" of the disappeared Cheshire Cat's eyes and grin in the night sky that reflects the Bat Signal of Burton's early Batman films.
Johnny Depp's turn as the Mad Hatter brings with it flashes of his last collaboration with Burton, such as the moments of near violent fury that escape from the tormented Hatter at various times during the film that remind one of the dark anger of Sweeney Todd. Though Alice is the core of the film, the Hatter is its true emotional center, it's tormented soul, and Burton's avatar in the world of the film. Depp's portrayal is more well-rounded than the trailers would indicate, and his strong, charismatic performance commands the screen whenever his character is shown.
This takes nothing away from the strength of Mia Wasikowska as the title character; she holds her own with Depp and has the ability to pull off Alice's transformation from troubled young woman to heroine of the film. Helena Bonham Carter also gives a lively turn as the vicious Red Queen, and the animals are charming. The weakest link in the cast may be Anne Hathaway as the White Queen; her performance is as colorless as the white around her and tepid as well.
There are many themes woven through the story of Burton's Alice in Wonderland. Strongest perhaps are the theme of madness being the better choice than normalcy and of accepting that the impossible most often is possible. In Burton's worlds those who are individuals against the norm, who achieve the impossible because they do not believe it is so, stand as the heroes against the tide of standard mediocrity. This film is an epic of both external and internal discovery, and I highly recommend it.

It seemed that this movie wasn't getting a lot of attention - all I knew is that the people I knew who'd seen it - wanted to see it again, in IMAX 3D. Well, last night I went with a group of friends and we all thought it was right there with "Avatar." It was magnificent. It hovered just this side of a nightmare. Tim Burton was THE perfect director for this tale. It was beautifully cast, with Johnny Depp, as usual, phenomenal. The actress who played Alice was also flawless. The art direction, cinematography, costumes and special effects were as good as they come. This movie will last for years to come as a classic. See it quick on IMAX 3 while you can. A little mature for young kids.

Seeing this movie in IMAX 3D was the best decision I've made in a long time. The story line did not lack anything and the special effects were AMAZING!!! I do, however, think the PG rating is quite liberal -- I would highly recommend not taking kids <10 to see this as quite a few situations are very tense and somewhat graphic. Tim Burton did an amazing job recreating this classic and it is a definite must-see for those who had any interest in the original!!

After all the hype over this movie and my fondness for Tim Burton films, I was a bit let down by this movie. The special effects and most of the acting was wonderful, but the story line seemed a bit forced and discombobulated. The flow of the story line wasn't as great as other Burton films and I was surprised to see that I found certain parts rather predictable. Depp was superb as the Mad Hatter, and completely believable as a lunatic. Helena Bonham Carter was a rather likable dictatorial queen and I loved the special effects to make her head big. Mia Wasikowska was a strong protagonist with an immature side, so I wasn't exactly sure what to make of her. The make up and costumes were incredible and I was disappointed that the story line wasn't as captivating. The movie borders more on being aesthetically appealing than entertaining.

The movie itself was good but, the tickets were high at $11.50 a piece and now Movietickets is charging a fee on top of that to buy online. Also I would not pay to see a 3-D movie again. For the price difference both Avatar and Alice in Wonderland I could have seen on a regular screen. The IMAX at Concord Mills, Concord, N.C. is not the IMAX that you sit in tilted seats while the screen is all around you, it is only a slightly bigger movie screen then the regular, definitely NOT worth the extra ticket $$.

As soon as I heard Johnny Depp was playing the Mad Hatter I knew this was a must see and I wasn't disappointed. First time I had been to an IMAX in a long, long time but I figured why not? I definitely wasn't expecting it to be as good as it turned out to be, but to be honest, I didn't really have any expectations going into it. It is a must-see in at least 3-D, but see it in IMAX if you can muster the extra couple of bucks.

was pleasantly surprised that it was more Alice Thru the Looking Glass than Alice in Wonderland. I always loved the Jaberwalki rhymes!!! My 10 year old said silently through the whole movie. An infrequent but welcome response. Love the new 3-D presentations.

Great visual entertainement!!! Recommend seeing it in 3D, simply amazing. Tim Burtons imagination is extraordinary and he partners it with great acting. Highly recommend to anyone especially those that are fans of Tim Burton, you wont be disappointed.

Except for Johnny Depp, I found the movie depressing. Both my wife and I considered leaving after the first 10 minutes. Neither one of us could see any advantage of making this movie in 3D and we are simply not impressed with IMAX.
Pehaps this movie appeals to the very young.

B Good visual effects. 3D effects were not as dramatic as hoped. Loved Johnny Depp in this. Plot was a bit thin as well thought there could have been more depth. Of course there is not too far you can go with an already developed story line. I definately recommend you see this film for the fantasy and visuals.

Great visuals, nice use of 3-D and generally good performances (Mia was perfect!), but surprisingly I was a bit disappointed by Depp and Hathaway who always seemed to be acting. Bonham Carter was also over the top, but her scenes, (as a combination of the Red Queen and the Queen of Hearts), worked. The original Carroll story is both undramatic and too familiar, so the "grown Alice returns to Wonderland" plot was a good idea, but there was no real sense of jeopardy, Alice's climactic choices were never in doubt and the few new "revelations" about Wonderland (characters' real names, etc.) were uninteresting. But I really loved the very ending after Alice returns home, in that we didn't see the "Wizard of Oz" cliche of actors from Wonderland turning up as "real" people in Alice's life.

I enjoyed the movie very much. I saw it in digital 3D which really enhanced the movie experience. Lewis Carroll was a famous logician in his day and his Alice in Wonderland was a parody on the Mathematics emerging in his day. The movie played down this aspect of his work but was an extremely enjoyable event in any case.
