A very forgettable story that has nothing to do with the concept of the original Alice in Wonderland. It just uses the same characters. If you expect dialog like in the original movie, with logic games and twisted words, you will be very disappointed. On the movie experience itself, I watched it in 3D and believe that watching it in plain old 2D would have been just as good, less expensive, and probably better for my ears. The dynamic range of the audio is way too high, with loud passages too loud for comfort. Sound levels that you can expect from a movie with big explosions, added for no reason at all.

I loved every minute of "Alice" in IMAX 3D. The story, costumes, acting and backgrounds were great. There were lots of little things that made us laugh all throughout the movie and Helena Bonham Carter deserves an award for her portrayal of the Red Queen. Her character was so entertaining that it was actually my favorite character. There were some good life lessons in the movie as well. I don't tend to buy movies when they come out on DVD but I will buy this one. And seeing it with the IMAX 3D experience just enhanced everything.

I took my 2 yr old and 4 yr old to see it in 3D on IMAX screen. Wasn't sure how 2yr old would react to 3D. 4 yr old LOVED every min. 2yr old got scared on previews of the new Dragon movie. 3D was a bit much for him. He peeked a few times, but the majority of the time had his eyes covered. I loved the movie and can't wait for DVD release. Not scary at all for the 4 yr old. The 2 yr old did comment the dragon (in the movie) was scary to him.

I have to confess that I wanted to see this movie because I had seen Avatar in 3D IMAX and was so impressed with how much better the experience was than the 2d that I wanted to see more. And Alice in Wonderland seemed like a good choice.
What I expected to see was a 3D IMAX version of Alice. However, before I saw the movie I had been tipped off that it wasn't the same story.
That plus the fact that it was a Tim Burton movie made me not so sure I would love it.
Not to worry. This is not only an excellent 3D IMAX movie...
It is probably one of the best movies of all time.
The story, although different from the original, was very much complementary. But that doesn't do it justice. The story is both interesting and exciting. It deals with issues that are very much of concern to everyone and does so in an entertaining way, something not very common to modern storytelling.
The acting was superb. No question. But as good as it is, the story, directing, special effects, costuming, set direction, cinematography - and oh, let's not forget the 3D IMAX - was so superbly done that you might not notice so much.
This movie is Academy Award winning quality, especially in the above listed categories.
Tim Burton's direction is, in my opinion, what really makes this movie so good. He didn't just re-tell AIW and he didn't just shoot a movie in 3D IMAX. What he did was to use the 3D IMAX to enhance the story and create something that is totally original.
That's something that's very hard to do with a "sequel" if you will to such a well known story.
In conclusion, I can not imagine a movie more enjoyable and entertaining. It has now become one of my favorite movies of all time (and that list does not change lightly or often).
Thanks to Tim Burton and everyone involved in the movie for giving me such a great movie experience.

This movie was an interesting twist on an old fairy tale and was quite good, especially Johnny Dep's portrayal of the Mad Hatter!
Even in IMAX the 3D effects were not as good as those in AVATAR but still enhanced the experience and would recommend it to everyone except for young children for which this one might be a bit too scary!

Great movie for the IMAX experience. Just make sure you get a seat somewhere towards the middle of the theater for the best of the 3d FX. Side seats tend towards a more blurry view. Movie is a lot of fun. You don't want to watch this one at home on the tube - worth seeing in the theater!

It was a full house at the theatre. Our "Mad Hatter" t-shirts got a lot of attention and queries about the movie :) and the poster prints are beautifully done -- thanks, IMAX!!
I didn't have high expectations of this movie. I enjoyed the Cheshire Cat (Stephan Fry) character the most. I follow Fry's tweets so I have an insight on his witty and sarcastic humor. I like how Alice was portrayed as an individual thinker even in the topsy-turvy world of Wonderland - she was still calling the shots.
We had some stimulating conversations about parallels in "Alice" to other Burton films. Before the movie we saw trailers for Shrek, Tron (looks awesome), How To Train Your Dragon & Hubble. Hubble's "coming soon" date was incorrectly posted as August 2010.

Movie was absolutely excellent, with one exception: The 3D scenes using totally human actors were flat - really no difference from a normal theatre presentation. On the other hand, where there was animation the 3D was bold and wonderful. My understanding is that the 3D for this movie was kind of an afterthought - the movie being shot in standard format, then reshot in 3D, and enhanced using the original master copies. Overall and excellent movie and presentation, and would highly recommend. Rated 4 out of 5, only because when you pay the premium for the IMAX experience - you want "the whole ball of wax."

3-D IMAX was stunningly good.
Film itself was pathetic. Bad acting. Laughable lines. Danny Elfman's score really disappointed. Some sections looked like "pseudo-3D", others were just "awesome 3D".

As an adult, my purpose in going to see "Alice in Wonderland" was artistic. And I was very pleased that I did. My spouse and I both enjoyed it tremendously. Johnny Dep is superb, as usual. He is great in fantasy roles. All the actors are very skilled and believable in their roles. 3D these days is so awesome that you feel right there, in the movie. The movie seemed to me to be more appropriate for adults than kids because of the violence and scariness as well as adult social situations. Ah! Cheshire Cat was gorgeous and adorable!

I viewed this movie with my fiance in IMAX 3D. Based on the movie alone it is just excellent. The cast line up is bizarre to say the least but every actor nails their roll. Depp, Glover, Mia Wasikowska and Hathaway.. wow! Such a great flick. Burton nails Alice in Wonderland perfectly in my book!

Myself and my six year old really enjoyed this movie. I am a Tim Burton fan and i liked where he took the story of Alice instead of a remake of the original. I liked the quirky humor and the costumes were amazing.

Tim Burton does it again. The story line is enhanced by state of the art 3D and yet I would still rate this at 5 starts when viewed in standard format. Simply delightful. Will see this again.

With Johnny Depp and Tim Burton you normally can't go wrong with a movie and that is why I went. Movie could have been better and actually was a little boring in some areas. Expected movie to be more exciting. Saw it in 3D and I don't think it would have mattered if I spent less money and saw it at a regular theatre.

This film was a bit disappointing, not at all what this story could have been, should have been, in the hands of such skilled actors and the creative genius of Tim Burton.

I thought the movie to be captivating,compelling but with some lameness to the plot. Johnny Depp was excellent as the mad hatter and if I did not know he was playing the part, I would not have guessed it was he. Helena Bonham Carter was brilliant as "the Red Queen" and why she got second billing to Anne Hathaway???Hathaway's role and character was very lame and much smaller than Bonham Carter's. I thought all the makeup was excellent...and the color with the usual Tim Burton darkness struck a good balance. I did not care at all if the movie varied from the original book's..I thought it showed innovation.
