I accepted a last minute invite to attend an "IMAX 3D Experience" screening at the local theatre complex. Having never read the story but only seeing the original Disney animated film as a child, I wasn't sure what to expect from this re-make by Tim Burton and his all-star cast. I knew it would be a little "dark" from the trailers I'd seen and that today's technology would make it interesting enough - not to mention Johnny Depp's make-up. When the movie ended I walked out smiling; one word came to mind: WOW!
"Underland" seems like the next vacation hot spot! The "natives" remind us of people we know in our everyday lives. Great film!

Once again, the "critics" were wrong .... or watching the green trash next door! This was an amazing movie that told more of Alice's story in wonderland. Beautiful visual effects with an effective use of 3D throughout the movie. I will happily see it again and again!

Knowing ahead of time that Johnny Depp would be playing the Mad Hater, I had a feeling this movie would be good. And it didn't disappoint. Alice kept my attention throughout the film with excellent graphics and superb acting from Depp and Bonham (The Red Queen). She stood out as the best to me. I definitely reccomend this movie to young and old. It's quite enjoyable.

Pretty scenery..... everything, including the evil queen's castle is beautiful, colorful, even psychedelic, but that was it for this movie. The story wanders, the characters in the movie even note that this is not the Alice we all expected.
A good remake of the original would have been more interesting (and less violent).
I was not impressed. Tim Burton should stick to original ideas and not remakes of other ideas.....what has happened to creativity? It seems that everything is being re-hashed. Tim Burton needs to continue to entertain us with NEW ideas, NEW creations....this is what makes him great!
If you must see this movie, see it in 2D, the 3D is just a gimmick and I-MAX is just a waste.

Excellent story line. Artistic presentation and animation was very good. and at times spectacular. I was somewhat disappointed in the IMAX 3D presentation. Considering the volume of animation to work with, it seemed that much more could have been done with the 3D effects. Avatar IMAX 3D production was far better than that of Alice IMAX 3D. I loved the animated frogs and especially the Cheshire cat and I am not a cat lover.

Like usual, Tim Burton did an amazing job when it comes to making a stunningly beautiful film. The make-up (especially The Mad Hatter's-- Johnny Depp) was exceptionally breathtaking. I enjoyed seeing the array of dresses Alice fashioned amidst her shrinking & growing phases, as well as, all of the other costumes. Helena Bonham Carter absolutely rocked the Red Queen!! I was, however, slightly disappointed that the story didn't hold my attention like all of Burton's other films, especially towards then end when you would normally be completely engaged in the story.. I found myself dozing off a bit. Being a visual person myself, I no less than loved it but it could have been even better with a great story.

This movie was good. It wasn't as great as they were making it up to be though. Still this was my first time seeing an IMAX 3D movie and I highly recommend it. It blows Disney Digital 3D away by miles. It felt like they were right in front of me. My 2 boys ages 12 and 15 also enjoyed it. I would definetly see it in the movies while you can and at IMAX 3D. It just won't be the same at home.

Great use of visual effects; excellent character depiction of Mad Hatter and Alice. Once again, Tim Burton uses visual effects to compensate for his inability to create a unique story or "twist" on a story ( otherwise why keep directing re-makes?!?) through his directing.

The depth of detail was amazing, seeing this in 3D is totally worth it, the picture "pops"! Visually stimulating and a great cast as well. Tim Burton doesn't leave anything out or half-done!

Visuals were beautiful, acting was pretty good, but story was boring. This movie also didn't benefit from 3D. You can tell that they shot it in 2D and wanted to join the hype of 3D and tried to make it that way. So sometimes things that move too quickly are blurred out. Also it's a dark movie, so 3D gets lost in translation. I would recommend it as a rental. Definitely not IMAX worthy
