It's not just the bare stage and perfunctory costumes, but the absence of any dramatic directing or effort at acting. Singing may be good, but we come to these events to see an opera staged. If singers just park and bark, as they mostly did here, we'd get more pleasure just listening to the CD. All-in-all, aside from good voices and spirited conducting from Armiliato, this production was more awkward, misguided and amateurish than most high school musicals. One bit of comic relief, in an opera that cannot sustain laughter, was the hilariously effete military ballet during the Soldiers' Chorus. What were they thinking?! I hope that turns up on U-Tube.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Of course I see many cultural venues but I enjoyed it and would see more if you continue to bring them to the valley. What I enjoyed best that since it was an older crowd they weren't texting during the movie.
