The 3-D was typical and outstanding as the other 3-D projects that I have seen lately. Burton did an excellent job and had his signature all over the film. The cast was excellent and conveyed a solid story. A story that the trailers did not clearly outline. This was Alice's SECOND time down that hole. It wasn't Burton's take on the original version. Depp only grows with each role that he takes on. 1:49 minutes, followed by 22 minutes of upcoming 3-D movies. It was a bit over overkill. The movie should have been trimmed by 10-15 minutes. The story is simple and only has one "main message." Do what you think is right and don't get influenced by what other people think you should do. Go with your heart and you will make the right choice...in Wonderland.

It was my first 3D movie and we thoroughly enjoyed it! There were parts of the movie the 3D effects were more intense than others. Would have liked to experience more 3D, but the movie was still good. Anything with Johnny Depp is going to be good, regardless!

Wow, what a disappointment. This movie has very little going for it. I was sucked into the hype and should have listened to some of the other reviews before I blew my money on this horrible production.
Throughout the movie there are a number of characters just thrown in to the mix and never expanded upon. The climax of the is hardly that and completely predictable. This movie just went through the motions of attempting to tell a story, and failed.
Did I laugh during this movie - No. Did the storyline keep me interested - No. Was I slightly amused - No. Did this movie leave me confused and bored - Yes.
Frankly, this movie is "straight-to-DVD" quality at best. Actually, I would even be upset if I spent money on renting this movie.
Do yourself a favor and go watch a Pixar film, Disney has lost its touch.

I liked this movie a lot. The wonderland characters are a lot of fun and animated very well. The 3D fell short is several places. In my opinion they didn't spend enough time on the 3D production. There were a couple spots in the film where the 3D was messed up. One quick scene where Alice's face appeared further back than her head. But all in all, I enjoyed this film.

As I read other reviews, I noticed comments that the "plot" was "dull". HELLLLOO people!!! We all know the story already. This new retelling of the old classic captured Mr. Carroll's original story as if WE were in the dream with Alice. Technology allowed for the type of wild and crazy things that our minds manifest in a dream. It was superbly done. Johnny Depp and Mia were excellent in representing their characters. I would also leave the little kids at home. But, my granddaughter (9) loved the "weirdness " of it, and thought is was "totally cool"! Two final thoughts- 1) Please make more of these classics (but only be "dark" if the story truly is) in this media type, and 2) Hey Disney - you could make a fabulous ride from this movie!

I was torn with this movie while watching it...it was artistically beautiful, but plot and character wise, I wasn't sure. That is, until the very end. One little part truly ruined the entire thing, and I have to believe it wasn't Burton's idea to add it. My guess is the studio execs wanted to add some kid comedy, and it truly destroyed what was an otherwise ok movie.

Over the years I've avoided movie theaters because of crying kids,annoying patrons,etc. I had never been to an Imax 3d movie before so I thought I'd check it out. As far as the theater and the whole 3d experience it was first class and very enjoyable. Now for the movie.Although it had a couple moments,all in all this was a failure of a film. I really like Johnny Depp but his last couple of ventures were just plain lame and almost scary as he just comes across as a freako. I found only one character to be memorable and that was the red queen.Sadly though it didn't make up for the rest of the movie. Do yourself a favor and just wait for this one to hit the shelves if you really must see it.

I took my two teenage boys to see the movie, mostly just to see what they did with 3D. We all thought the plot was very dull -- just a rehash of the original stories with most of the cleverness removed. The visuals and music were very beautiful, though, and much of the acting was decent. If you love 3D, worth a watch -- otherwise wait for the DVD.

While I would argue that this movie is far too dark for very young children, I do think that anyone who can handle the darkness of the film will fully enjoy this movie. The story is tweaked a bit, but what results is an entirely new take on the story of Alice and her time here. I absolutely loved this film. I often enjoy Tim Burton's works, but this one quite literally takes the cake. He has gone absolutely above and beyond for us this time. Go see it, but leave the little ones at home. :)

We (1-50+ yr. old and 1-60+ yr old) took my 8 yr old granddaughter and her girlfriend to the 3D movie, and thier words were awesume and cool !! We thought it was very colorful and alot of action. This was the first 3D movie we attended and it was as if you could touch things right in front of you. I would recommend this movie to all ages.

Based on some of the reviews I have read, it appears that the world is suffering from some sort of mass "A.D.D." A shame really. Our lust for blood and fireworks seems to have made us numb to just about every simple pleasure in life. How could anyone not like this version of Alice in Wonderland?
Tim Burton faithfully created "Wonderland" in rich detail. From the bright and magical to the dark and gloomy, it could not have been done any better. His rendition of all of the characters was sheer genius.
Johnny Depp's Mad Hatter was marvelous. Hatter had heart, soul, and courage, and was also quite mad. Bravo to Mr. Depp. No one else could have played that character at that level.
Helena Bonham Carter's Red Queen was my favorite. Tip of the hat to Mr. Burton for his special effects rendering of the Queen, and a dozen roses (red) to Ms. Carter for her portrayal of the comical tyrant. Perfection was achieved when the Queen took out her club to play a little game of croquet.
Dweedle Dum & Dweedle Dee, The Cheshire Cat, the Army of Cards, The Jabberwocky were all exactly as they should be, and rendered with marvelously rich detail. The voice casting was perfect. And my other favorite, The March Hare, was even madder than the Mad Hatter, adding a twisted comic edge that kept me in stitches every time I saw him.
And of course, Alice. Again, terrific casting, and wonderful acting on the part of Mia Wasikowska. Like Mr. Depp's Hatter, her character was painted with broad depth, from the sweet & innocent to the bold & brave.
Best movie ever? No. Would I see it again? Oh yeah...
To the A.D.D. world around me: Don't think too much. You are ruining your own fun...

Don't believe all the dissatisfied customers!!!! I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and liked the 3-D!! First off I have never read the books but I have seen the Disney animated film. This movie does include references and characters from both the film and the book (the wife has read it). This is basically the sequel to the animated film, its more akin to Big Fish than Sleepy Hallow and is not near as good as the two but it is a good film. The acting was done well and the special effects were superb. Depp does a great job as does Mia Wasikowska but Helena Bonham Carter steals the show. The 3-d was not lack luster but was not overtly prevalent through out the film. Overall this film is a go see if you have kids or really enjoyed the animated film. If you don't have much of an imagination, do not enjoy Burton's non dark work, and are just an overall bore(that means you can't figure out this is a kids film) than go watch something else.
