I thought the graphics and effects were really great, and the 3D was amazing (first 3D movie I've seen). However, coming from Tim Burton, I was REALLY expecting it to be spooky and dark. I think it had it's parts where it lived up to that...but I think a lot of it was too goofy and silly. Who the heck is the dog anyway?? And the Jabber-wocky? (sp) And how all of a sudden the Hatter starts dancing to some sort of electronic music???? It seemed corny and too cutsie to live up to the standard that I expected from a dark movie, ESPECIALLY with Tim Burton's influence.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

i liked it generally, but found it somehow lacking at the end, the characters were not so developed and the plot had the Hollywood numb the brain touch, overall funny and weird sort of like the Witches of Eastwick on psychotropics, i am not sure i would recommend it for small children, especially if you are like me and do not let your child watch violence, the mote full of heads was pretty grim, needles in the eye etc.....it would have been nice if the story had been treated a bit more like the classic it is and not some Hollywood romp..........

I found Tim Burton's version of "Alice in Wonderland" to be as good as I could imagine. Since I am lacking in the creativity department, I was very impressed by the creativity and imagination that went into the making of this movie. The acting and choice of actors couldn't have been better. Although I saw it in 3D, this movie is good enough on its own merits to see without the 3D. I believe that any adult who is young at heart will enjoy this movie immensely.

Very good movie. The 3D effects were pretty good but I think could have been better. The story line was fun and the characters were comedic. It was a dark movie so I am sure that there a a lot of young children who would not do well. Johnny Depp was amazing at the Hatter and Helena Bonham Carter was a tremendous Red Queen.

Character development is idiotic. They pulled random ideas from the books, and rewrote them into some poor excuse for a coherent plot. Only worth viewing probably if you put in sound-blocking earbuds and are playing Pink Floyd. Alice is the most pathetically developed character of all, especially by the end of the movie.

Well... this movie was a hit for myself, my 11 year old daughter, AND my 4 year old son. It was visually stunning. I can't pick a favorite character, because they were all awesome. (Although, the March Hare was hilariously 'mad'!) I loved the character play that Johnny Depp put into the Mad Hatter. Mia Wasikowska was a terrific Alice. Helena Bonham Carter was too funny as the Red Queen. (Loved the enlarged head!) Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum were awesome, thanks to Glover... and the animators. Anne Hathaway was quirky and cool as the White Queen. Again, the visual appeal of the movie was stunning.

I really enjoyed this movie, A LOT! I Loved the original and cheap re-make cartoon version of Alice in Wonderland as a child and even still.. I would definately have to say it wasn't what I thought it was going to be like though and I kind of wish it would have been a little MORE like the Cartoon movie.. When certain parts came on in the movie I would get excited but then I'd get kinda bummed out because they didn't show or do things how it was in the original Alice.. ANYWAY though I really liked it and completely understand that it 's a MOVIE and it's not going to be the same. The graphics were awesome! I love that queen haha ("who ate my tarts"?) lol I think my fave thing was the cards.. they looked cool! & I truely did like it soo much!! I love these new 3D movies.. Maybe next time I'll have a little Mushroom Dinner before I watch it if you know what I mean.. haha

My 9 year old daughter and I went to see this movie. It was the first one we had seen in 3 d. I wanted to see what all the hype was about. OMG this was such a great movie and the 3d just made it more vibrant and intense. It is not the cartoon Walt Disney story. It is a whole different take on the story just using some of the same characters and introducing new ones. We loved it and may even go back and see it again. (Cheaper Saturday mornings) We definitely give this film two thumbs up and urge everyone over the age of 6 to see it. It was great.

This movie was all it was said to be. I went with my child and some of her friends, their ages vary from 11-3, and all of us enjoyed it. I think that i enjoyed more than anyone. The 3D effects were just amazing. Johnny Depp was a great Mad Hatter, Anne Hathaway played a very convencing white princess, even her motions in her hands were there and as far as Helena Bonham she was cruel, rude, funny, and real. I would suggest taking your children to this movie, especially if they have never been to a movie in 3D.

Wish it was a darker R rate version or at least PG-13. Much like the video game release awhile back. But what can you do with a PG rating and Disney being behind it. One day someone will since it has so much potential to be a horror.
Other then that is was good and Anne Hathaway could of done a lot better. It was like she didn't know what to do with that character.

A beautifully crafted Tim Burton movie that is visually stunning. Yet for a 3D movie this falls somewhat flat. This reinterpretation or as some call it continuation of Lewis Carroll's tale minimizes his finely crafted metaphors into a simple story of a young woman learning to make her own decisions regardless of the wishes of others.
Its a pity that Burton decided to rewrite a classic as another action flick instead of seeing its own artistic beauty and integrity. His use of 3D, though quite professional, is totally pedestrian with the usual tricks like a cup being thrown at you.
The cast however was good. Mia Wasikowska held her own against the likes of Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. Both Depp and Bonham Carter are almost otherworldly in their appearance and try their best to make this work, but the script was weak at best.
Where the movie does excel is in the use of color and mood which both intertwine in a thoroughly unique manner. Tim Burton is the master of eccentric style. If only he could have found a good script this would have been much better.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Followed the book as closely as it could while fitting into a movie and incorporating the original Disney movie. One of Tim Burton's Best! Sure Johnny Depp was his usual nutty self but noone could have done it better. Didn't care for Anne Hathaway, too much acting for her.

Visually, a stunning movie. As a contination of the 'Alice in Wonderland' story, it was what it was: a girl's coming of age story with the realization that one does not have to be what everyone expects and that you can chose to be who you want to be.
Depp was good, but I've seen him do better. Anne Hathaway's body language was annoying and not effective. The people from the White Queen's court were also visually unappealing. The people from the Red Queen's court were actually more interesting.
Mia Wasikowska was very good.
Other reviews I've seen say Helena Bonham Carter stole the scenes she was in and while I agree she was very good, she was very good at imitating the woman who played Queen Elizabeth in the Second Blackadder Series. But it was very obviously a copy.
Costuming was wonderful. The BEST part of the movie is when Depp recites the Jabberwokky using the Sweeny Todd voice. I wouldn't mind a recording of him doing just that.
As a Tim Burton fan, not his greatest film but possibly his most beautiful film. As for Depp, it seemed like he was doing a very good job at doing what was asked of him, but it was as if they were not pushing him to be better.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Sit in the Middle, half way up. there are Too many times during the movie that the dialogue is VERY hard to understand. The effects were there but not enough. Visually is was great. Although I would imagine that 99% of what we think of us "a set" was created and placed in later. The Alice Character was bad for some of the movie but I think she got the handle of it somewhere towards the end. The 12 yr old that was with us had no comment, which means he could have taken or left it.

After seeing Avatar, this was just average. While the 3D effects were good if not predictable (cups flying at you--old!), the missing piece was the story. Why was Alice really there? What was the story behind the queens? Everything was shallow when it would have enhanced the movie to have as much depth as the visual effects. Oh well, the kids like it. Tim Burton is always dark but so was the movie (as in hard to see with the 3D glasses). Welcome to Alice in Creepyland!

I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes fantasies. This movie was imaginative and realistic enough to make an adult use their mind to figure out the plot. I enjoyed the use of a few ugly beasts, and the 3D effects weren't too corny. As far as 3D effects go, Avatar is still number one.
