Curiouser and curiouser indeed... Visually it's 'Wonderful'! The plot was flat, ordinary and predictable. A simple-minded movie without 'muchness'. The movie fell short on the highly absurd-funky-twisted tone one would expected from Tim Burton. Seemed more Disney-ish with a light twist of Burton. Overall I liked it enough and give it a B- (must see in 3D to appreciate the visual depth)

You take a little bit of Alice In Wonderland, and and a dash of Through the Looking Glass, throw in a serving of great actors like Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham, and a good helping of imagination and you get the best potion for a fun filled two hours of total imagination. This movie takes the best character of both books and combines them into a Lewis Carroll-esk type adventure that is both fun and scary at the same time. Both thought provoking at times, and entertaining you can't go wrong with this choice of film. You may even find your Muchness

This movie is definately one long awaited by me! I'm a huge Johnny Depp fan and a big fan of Tim Burton's work as well! After reading a critic review yesterday which was horribly bashing every part of this movie from the 3-d quality to Johnny's acting, I didn't listen to it and saw it for myself! ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!! I love everything about this movie! It's so creative! The characters are great! Johnny did FANTASTIC as usual!! The critic who wrote a bad review obviously has grown up in this society where creativity doesn't exist and where there is no more respect for imagination! Great job Johnny and TIm!

This was a beautiful movie. Of course it's predictable--we all know the story by heart!! But it's a fantastic tale. The woman who plays Alice is just perfect. A stunning woman + she is a more heroic Alice than in the past. Anne Hathaway is just so-so. All the others are great. GO and see it!!

My daughter and I loved it! Every actor is superb! Love Johnny Depp. Carter is strong and fun. This movie is like watching and living the dream you are inside the dream. Maybe seeing Avatar ruined it for me but I was really expecting so much more in the way of oddities and special effects. I had anticipated this movie coming out for several months now and so there was a tremendous build up and I vividly recall the story from my childhood so I couldn't help but compare. So much was lost in this renditiion...twas a shame really. I was hoping for an epic film on par with Pink Floyd The Wall and Avatar. Burton had so much material to work with and he chose to ignore 70% of it....strange. PS Johnny Depp was spectacular as usual - no suprise there.

This was the greatest movie! Absolutely loved it. Not at all the traditional story of Alice, but a bizarre and quirky twist, similar to Through the Looking Glass. The plot, while a touch predictable, moved very quickly (probably because its a super short movie by today's standards). Johnny Depp's interpretation of the Mad Hatter was spot on...and rather than being funny, he really was nuts! Definitely Alice for grown-ups!

I saw Alice and Wonderland in 3-D last night with my 4 children, their ages range from 8-16. Everyone enjoyed it, the movie was fantastic, Johnny Depp is amazing! I highly recommend it. This was also the first movie I've seen in 3-D and the effects far exceeded my expectations.

I enjoyed AIW and my 6 and 4 year old did also, and they aren't really familiar with the original. I was worried whether or not the youngest one would sit throught it but they did great, although the 3D glasses didn't fit my 4 yr old. It did "refresh" my memory of the original ("drink me," "eat me,") I love Johnny Depp and went to see this because of him, but he wasn't really "mad." Helena Bonham Carter was funnier! Some of my friends thought it would be "creepy" or "dark" but I didn't think it was at all.

AIW 3D had very good special effects throughout. The Bandersnatch and the Jabberwocky may be a little too scary for young children, judging by the screaming/wailing I heard at certain parts of the movie . The movie isn't G for a reason

As a huge fan of Tim Burton's films, for me, it's his best work since Edward Scissorhands. I've only gone to see a movie on opening day on three occasions because I was so psyched to see it and Alice did not disappoint in the least. Since it's been nearly 40 years since I've seen the original Alice, I'm sure I missed out on some of the references made to it. However, I am so appreciative of the way Burton paid homage to it in many scenes, beginning with Alice's fall into the hole. It's an amazing, beautiful film and was way better than Avatar. I walked out of the theater and asked, "Can we see that again tomorrow?" We just might.

I'm a huge Alice fan and have seen all the versions. I guess I was looking for that nostalgia, to come back to me, but this doesn't do that. As for the movie itself, presented in 3d, it is beautiful to look at, and that's why I didn't give it a 2. The effects were ok, but not as much 3-d elements as I would have liked. The girl playing Alice also leaves much to be desired, I was not happy and thought her performance was not where it should have been, I guess that was done to leave Depp as the "star" the problem was, in this movie he did not "shine." For this being a "Disney" film, I just want to say if you are looking for that whole family/Disney/feel food quality, you won't find it here, and definitely not for little kids, maybe 8 and up.

A semi-enjoyable film but a disappointment overall. It stayed close to the Lewis Caroll characters but seemed to lack imaginative direction, despite its interesting visuals. The film just seemed to lack a certain direction, along with it's mundane, boring, and predictable storyline. The magic, wonder, and fun that should've been expected is very short lived and the fantastical aspects really never amaze the viewer and lose their impact half way through the film. Tim Burton just seems as if he got lazy, even though he did deviate a bit from his usual style. Children might enjoy it more than adults but might have a hard time with its boring pacing.

I took my two daughters along with my husband and myself to see the 3D version of the new Alice in Wonderland movie. It was WONDERFUL... a bit dark, but what do you expect from the likes of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp. Again Johnny keeps his almost in love but not obtainable character in perfect form. Anne Hathaway is perfect for her character... we all laughed at her "gag" reflex. All in all it's a perfect Tim Burton expression in film of a forever-type story. It will go down in history as a success!

This movie was excellent. If you like Tim Burton and Johnny Depp then this is a movie for you. Alot of action and special effects. I am telling everyone to go see this movie if you are looking for a good, solid story.

Well worth going. Johnny Depp, as always, is wonderful! Mia Wasikowska, as expected, is beautiful. Helena Bonham Carter is once again deformed by her partner, Tim Burton, but it's amazing how it was so seamless and consistent throughout the entire show. There were no scenes where suddenly her head didn't look so big for her tiny body.
My only casting "complaint" (if you want to call it that) is that Anne Hathaway's fake white hair looked disturbing with her large, dark eyebrows. I found it hard to look at her, and considering she was "the beautiful" witch, it just seemed wrong to me. She is beautiful, but not in this movie.

This movie was a great retelling of the classic Alice in Wonderland story. I enjoyed references to Lewis Carol's other literary works.

if you want 3-D go see avatar....I am a fan of jonny depp but this was NOT one of his best ..only thing was a great costom and make-up.. and the other characters were lame. Story line jumbled and I kept waiting for it to get better but it never did..all about special affects of 3-d but no real story or substance
