This movie has a lot of flaws. The 3D is totally unnecessary. Some good performances come out of Depp and Carter and Glover. But it's mostly a frantic mess and at points is actually dull.
Disney needed something to franchise to tweens and Burton (and Depp) has a contract to fulfill and that's exactly what this movie is. It will move merchandise at Hot Topic and everyone gets a paycheck.

I was looking forward to this movie and it was great. The characters were so enchanting and I wanted to be there in the movie with them. Typical Burton flair, though not as dark as I thought it would be. Gorgeous visuals, art decor and very good blending of CG'c and live action. Can never go wrong with Johnny Depp, especially with his bromance Tim Burton. I love them together. All other actors, voice or otherwise are brilliant. Love me some Alan Rickman. So much fun!

This movie was mildly entertaining, nothing more. Without the 3-D effects, it'd be an empty, boring experience. I wish people would stop saying it effected them in some profound way, or even within any emotional range. This movie did one thing well: it looked cool at times. That's it. And with the cuts averaging maybe two seconds, it did it rather poorly.
And I thought Anne Hathaway looked ridiculous. Not that she's very attractive anyway, but man did she look terrible. What happened to Tim Burton? When did he become a COMPLETE sell-out anyway?

We went to check this movie out Friday night. The family had been in anticipation for quite some time, and it did not disappoint.
The story was good and the actors were great. Johnny Depp did his thing. For me, the 3D was cool even though there are some spots that were a bit tough on the eyes. But it wasn't nearly so bad to where I couldn't enjoy the film. The family, on the other hand, was getting headaches. They still enjoyed the movie by occasionally raising the 3D glasses from their eyes when it got a bit rough. For that reason only, I suggest watching it at a regular theater screening because they would've enjoyed it that much more if we had done the same.
All in all, great movie!

Overall it was a good film, and I enjoyed it. However, 3-D aside, it felt more like a renter to me. This would have been a great film while sitting on the couch with the family and a tub of microwaved popcorn. I can't pinpoint anything I specifically didn't like about it, but I also can't think of very many stand out moments either. I put it around a B or B-. I think my 11 year old will enjoy it, but I think my 8 year old will be bored to tears by it.

As usual Tim Burton has done a fantastic thing. The cast was great and each character really fit with the actor in charge of it. The quirkyness that is Tim Burton showed thru amazingly. I love the pairing of Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter every time they are together, but the dynamics she brought to the Red Queen was fabulous. this movie was everything i expected and more. it brought back memories of reading the story as a kid, it made me laugh, cry, and shiver. as far as the 3D vs. the regular screening is concerned, you can definitely see this without the 3D and not lose much. being that it's live action with mostly real people and not as much cgi, the effect is mildly lost. although if you want to get the full experience out of it, the money you spend to see the 3D will be worth it!

Tim Burton did the franchise justice. Even though I am not the biggest fan of 3D, and since the movie wasn't really made for it, i thought that it was quite enjoyable all the same. The acting was top notch, it was funny when it needed to be, and the special effects were amazing. Being a fan of the Alice series I was glad to see that both books were represented in the movie (even though they made the red queen and the queen of hearts the same character...) and it was really interesting to see how some of the minor characters in the book got a heavy overhaul and became some of the main characters in the movie. I anticipated something off beat and atypical with Tim Burton directing, and I was NOT disappointed. This is one of the most engaging versions of Alice in Wonderland that I have seen. I think even Lewis Carroll would be pleased. Take the time and go see this movie in 3D and loose yourself for a couple of hours in delightful characters, wonderful art and costuming, not to mention the music. Alice is a great experience for young and old alike.

This movie was boring and preditable--for all those who say there are hidden meanings, I say I know the hidden meanings and I have seen them presented in numerous representations before--there was nothing new or exciting in this version. I expected more from our famous trio.

when my girlfriend asked me to take her to this, i wasnt all that excited, but it turned out reall good. very funny and lots more to the story than i remember. it had its dark side too.

The movie was excellent though the begging was a bit dull, the connection between Alice and the hatter should of been resolved in a better way. Ann Hathaway is a great actress but the arms always out were a little too much. The movie was great and i would love to see it again and again. Johnny Depp was an amazing character for the movie, Chesser cat had amazing graphics. This was a wonderful movie. I left with a smile on my face :)
