I grew up with the Alice in Wonderland story and I'll admit in many ways this film works. Amazing visual effects make for great eye candy but in the end I felt a bit worn out from this films rather long, plodding pace. Depps performance as the Mad Hatter is respectable if less than original (think Edward Scissors Hands and Jack Sparrow somehow have a baby) and Helena Bonham Carter is disturbing sporting the largest cranium ever filmed. My kids enjoyed it all...no Avatar but worth the price of admission. Make sure you see the 3D version.

Overall the movie was quite fun yet a bit odd but, with Jonny Depp that is what I expected. The movie should have been called Return to Wonderland since it's based on her returning and saving wonderland. My 7 year old daughter had fun and she liked it a lot. It wasn't too scary just a bit different. So anyone under the age of 7 yrs may not understand or enjoy it as much as an older child.

As avid Tim Burton and Alice fans, we thoroughly enjoyed this movie. We went in without any expectations in regards to being true to just "Alice in Wonderland", the story. Saw it at an AMC ETX enhanced theatre. The picture and sound were excellent.

I went to see this movie with a group of friends. We made a day of it by dressing up like characters from the story and having a tea party before we went to watch the movie. We had people come up to us after the movie and tell us that our group was more interesting to watch than the actual movie. Visually the movie was nice, but there is absolutely no storyline. I would just save my money and watch it at home when available.

Once again, Johnny Depp amplifies a character to it's outlandish potential and scores! The cast of the movie is perfect, right down to the Cheshire Cat and all of the little characters amongst them. This film transports you into a fun fantasy world from childhood with lots of laughs to keep the ride going. 3D version was great, but some fast moving scenes were difficult to focus in on. Highly recommend seeing this!

great scenery, wonderful alice & queens, cool 3D, johnny LOOKED great but went in/out of accents (maybe that's a mad-hatter thing??), but the story wasn't compelling or particularly lucid... what a bummer... as soooo looking forward, brought two friends and eleven 13 yr olds... we all gave it bet'n 5 & 7.5 out of 10!!!

Sorry I was sadly dissapointed, I could have almost fell asleep durring the movie. I love Johnny Depp but I couldn't get into the character had a hard time understanding him, even though I know he's "mad" it just came across rediculous at times. In theory it should have been much better than it was but this time I don't feel Tim Burton pulled it off. I was very dissapointed.

First of all its not a sequel. The reason the characters are welcoming her back to wonderland is within the movie itself. I loved the movie, some didnt like the ending, I appreciated it. The movie is amazing... until 5 min before the credits. The ending was disappointing. It was like Burton was building up to this great finale and then he turned to another direction. Alice grows up through her journey, then faces her Real World problems and goes -from Wonderland- straight to Wall Street. How disappointing is that? Would it be better to stay in Wonderland with the Hatter? Probably not. If she married Ascot in the Real World? Definitely not. But a businesswoman? That is how the girl becomes an independent woman? Isn't that a bit of a cliche? I would expect something more fascinating in a Burton movie than recreating a Working Girl ending... But I have to admit that the movie is great and I would definitely recommend it.

I can't even put into words how AMAZING this movie is! Burton exceeded my expectations by bringing to life both the Alice and Wonderland books and putting a dark and funny twist to it. It is one of the very few movies that left me smiling for hours.

Good movie, excepted more "madness", laughter/fun but since of course it's Tim Burton, expect seriousness, darkness, gloomy and weird parts. Johnny Depp was great as Mad Hatter. Nevertheless still a good movie because of the scenery but did not amaze me. Saw it in 3D Disney Digital, nothing wow, see it in IMAX maybe better there is not save money and watch regular theater.

First it must be seen in 3D IMAX and the only theatre in the Tampa Bay area with the largest IMAX size screen (72' x 53') is Channelside. And you can buy your seats on line and get the best seat in the house. As usual Johnny Depp is fabulous and Tim Burton does his usual great, albeit, a bit macabre job. It is different than I expected and deeper ... laced with humor and dark. But it is a thrill to watch modern technology at its best with a great classic!

If I have a complaint, its that the movie seems to have been edited too much. The pacing is rushed and we don't see nearly enough of the individual characters. Don't get me wrong, I love the movie and it IS the best movie to see in 3-D, but it left me wanting more and I don't mean a sequel. It has it's deep and it's whimsical points. I truly enjoyed it. I just wanted something longer. Its a wonderful retelling that gives a plausible excuse for a "reboot." Wonderful visuals, great characters and great use of the 3-D gimick. Still, the Hatter seemed subdued and the rest of the characters just weren't explored enough. Go see it and enjoy it... don't over think it. It's a great movie to relax and "expand your mind" to.

Well, the casting was superb!! I adored Mia Wasikowska as Alice. I have no idea who she is but she knocked the character of Alice out of the park. Very charming. I'm sure we will see more of her and soon.
I really really have no regrets spending the money to see this in 3D. Depp was astounding as always but didn't really stand out more than the other characters. Burton did an excellent job of balancing the story and the parts of all the characters.

The graphics were pretty good and Johnny Depp was as good as you would expect. However the plot just seemed kind of blah. There were times that I got bored and if it wasn't for the vibrant coloros and costumes I would have probably fallen asleep.
I would recommend going to see it only if you are going to IMAX or Real 3D. Otherwise, stay home.

This movie is awesome. It was very good, although I still like the cartoon version, this added a real life effect, and I absolutely love the Chesire Cat, but surprising Johnny Depp did not steal the movie, it was shocking the Red Queen. I would recommend just seeing the basic Alice. No IMAX or 3D. There is not many effects thats worth the extra 3.00 dollars.
