Casting was a great part of this movie. Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter was great. I was expecting more from the 3D effects, but I did find my self swatting a few of the rocking horse flies. I was also disapointed that the phrase "I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date." was not there but with the wonderfull story this classic was, if not improved, updated for a modern audiance. Be warned however, some parts could be a little intense for younger veiwers. I found it to be a great story and would recomend it.

In overall this movie was good, I wasn't expecting to watch the original movie. I went with my 6 years old boy and we really enjoyed it.
We were hoping for more 3D interaction.

To all parents, this IS NOT the Disney Alice in Wonderland. Tim Burton did a wonderful job of mixing live action and animation. Also the performance of Johnny Depp was great, as usual, but there were times that the movie was rather intense. There were several small children in the theater when I took my kids and their friends. Some of the small children were frightened by this version of Alice. So, even though the movie is very good, parents chose movies wisely.

What happened to "I'm late! I'm late! For a very important date!" The most recognized sentence of the story left out!
I brought my 8 year old child and my entire family had difficulties through the movie being able to understand the English accent/character voices being used. Some of the best parts of the story were left out or just skimmed over and I was bummed.
The 3D part of the movie was pretty lame as well. Not much to ohhhh and ahhh about. It was fun to watch as in colors and "neat" characters if you have no clue about the story/book. And no that's not saying books are always better than movies; it's saying that it was so fast, scrambled, with parts jumbled and missed that I'm not sure how most people could have understood the movie without have reading the book.

Alice in Wonderland was a great movie! I liked it a lot! That is also because i love the the story. Some people have said that their was no plot and that The Mad Hatter steals the show, but the Mad Hatter is really funny and crazy. The plot wasnt really that bad, and the guy who origionally wrote Alice in Wonderland was on acid, so the story gets kind of crazy. Overall i liked it a lot.

I had my expectations set low because a friend had warned me earlier. He was disappointed that the story line was different from the traditional/original story. So when I watched with no such expectations, it felt fine.
The visuals were phenomenal, although the 3-D felt a bit tacky after watching Avatar. Basically it felt at times like 2D-projected-into-3D, flat objects at different depths.But all-in-all, it was quite good, especially where Alice falls into the hole and comes out with a key.
The Alice character was well played by whoever she was. Johnny Depp was a bit annoying. The story was alright. I fail to understand Hollywood's fixation with dark scenes with grim mood and constant underlying tension in animation movies. Why can't a children's fantasy tale be light-hearted, or atleast half light-hearted, like say the Ice Age parts 1 and 2? Other than that dissatisfaction, I liked the graphics, and the many little cute amusing effects in the wonderland. Overall, I recommend.
