You do not have to be a Michael Jackson fan to enjoy this film. Director Kenny Ortega did a good job of weaving segments from Jackson's rehearsals into a documentary that reveals the mega star's professionalism, comradeship with fellow performers, perfectionist nature, and tremendous talent even when saving his ultimate performance for the big show. Jackson looks and sounds fantastic. His dancers, musicians, and back-up singers are incredible. You also get some indication of what the tour probably would have been like - in a word, awesome! The King of Pop reigns in this film as only Michael Jackson can. And the documentary succeeds at doing what all great films do well - it leaves you wanting more.

I was blown away by rehearsal footage. What more if the world got to see his This is It concert series? Not only was it enjoyable because I got to relive my childhood, in growing up with his music, dancing and videos; but I got to - for a little under 2 hours - forget that MJ is actually gone. What really makes me sad is that this is the end of his music catalog, and there will be no more diverse, talented pushing-the-envelope projects from Michael Jackson.

Many negative evaluations seem to expect a concert film rather than a making-of documentary. I was impressed and touched; seeing the talent and hard work of Michael and the people working with him, how lovingly he dealt with everyone, even in difficult situations, and even some of the rehearsal missteps and corrections, gave me a greater appreciation of what goes into a production of this magnitude that I don't get when I only see the finished production, no matter how slick and impressive. This film shows a lot of what a dancer would love to see in working with a world-class performer, and also shows off many of the classic moves that audiences adore. Thumbs up!

This movie experience reminds you what a genius Michael really was. We see the man at work making subtile changes to the music, dances and even the props to make each moment better then the rest of us "normal" people could even imagine. He does all of this while performing his best loved dances and songs at a "rehearsal level" that still beats any other performer that has ever lived.

Michael Jackson was brilliant. He was so in tune with his music. His movements were an extension of the notes. His dancing was his way of making the sound visible. At 50, he had lost nothing. I have always followed Michael's career, but last night I saw a different Michael. Michael was not performing for a camera, for the fans, or for an audience. He was performing for himself - and it was beautiful. More than one time, I witnessed MIchael's consciouseness lift and he touched ecstasy. It was like he left this earth and he became the song - became the dance. When I left that theater I realized what a lucky person I am. I have been living with genius. I pity those people who are unable to recognize and appreciate who this man really was.

This movie wasn't a replay of his earlier videos, it really was done documentary style and showed an aspect of Michael I had not previously seen in any interviews he has done. Great story telling and a great legacy to have left of a person gone too soon. Definitely will buy on dvd.

Michael proves why he is one of the greatest entertainers of all time. His appearance is somewhat shocking and you see vulnerability. Because he was working 8-10 hours daily in preperation for his tour the vocals are far from crisp. He holds back to save his voice for the long sessions. His ability to direct the music, dancing, video etc... are on point. He is a consumate professionsl who knows what is needed. Song selections are killer.

Just saw the movie last night. This movie was so well done I saw what I wanted to see MJ perform. The actual concert would of been fabulous but something that I would of never seen. This was a once in a lifetime events for us, a glimpse at what would of been the greatest concert ever. People told me it was just a documentary and I had reservations about going, we made the right choice I think we would actually go again. An extremely gifted person in many ways.

Viewing this film several times reminded and enlightened me as to what a genius MJ was. Although it is sad that he is gone, kudos to the creators of this masterpiece for reminding us that at the center of all he did to elevate the realms of music, art, film, the environment and other issues close to his hear, was a HUGE talent and wonderful human being. It was sad to see glimpses of the grand show that the world will never see. While watching the movie I had to keep reminding myself that Michael is no longer with us. He was so full of life and energy during these rehersals of the concert that will now never be.

It was excellent and inspirational. I took my teenagers to see it and I was glad they were able to see "real" and natural talent! He was truly an exceptional performer.

I need to thank the people responsible for taping these rehearsals. I'd hate to think what would have been missed if they hadn't. The people who put this film together let us, the viewers, get a glimpse of the man behind the genious as well as witness what a fantastic concert this would have been had he lived. It is a great legacy to leave his children, family, friends, and fans. Being able to hear a pin drop during the movie and then the thunderous applause at the end brought tears and chills. I certainly hope this will be out in DVD soon.

Michael Jackson's This Is It is truly magical...Michael Jackson is truly magical. Everything about him is simply iconic and this movie portrays the true essence of MJ at its best through his dancing (he does the moonwalk in place!) and through his singing. A must see movie for a die-hard Michael Jackson fan!

OMG-this documentary is awesome. All throughout the movie, I kept thinking had MJ lived, this concert was going to be the best concert ever. The music, singers,dancers, the entire cast, this was the best. I thoughly enjoyed it, it's a MUST SEE! Great, go and support MJ's estate and be entertained! BTW, don't leave once the credits start rolling, there about 10 minutes more movie. (I found out the hard way)

I grew up on MJ's music. I’ve never seen his concerts live and I truly regret about it. I didn’t have chance. When he was in Russia I was still not big enough and Moscow was far away from my town. When I came to US he no longer performed here. Too bad. I could see what a great concert this would have been. This is It proves again and again that Michael is an extraordinary showman and perfectionist as much as the essence of LOVE. He is the best human being. He was in perfect shape for London concerts. His moves were as perfect as before. I couldn’t think of him being 50. So much energy, perfect dance moves, great body, outfits. IThis movie is just great!
