My family and I all are die hard SRK and Kajol fans. But we were very disappointed with this movie. Direction is very lacking. SRK and Kajol acting is good but movie is very very unrealistic. Would not watch again,even on dvd, and would not recommend to watch as well.

SRK was true to the character. There is a thin line between over-acting and just right for Rizvan's character and I think SRK nailed it. I never thought SRK was being disrespectful toward autistic people. He made me more aware of how an autistic person may see the world. Loved Kajol. She was very moving but my ears were ringing from her high pitched yells. I greatly appreciated the fact that Muslims were portrayed as good, kind and righteous. There have been many Bollywood films where Hindu/ Muslim conflict was depicted and they have always portrayed Muslims as either bad or not bad, but never good and right! Is that the real reason why some of the politicians in India are protesting? Thank you Karan Johar for making the film!

Good movie with a good message which can unfortunately get lost in all the other hype going on. The whole Georgia thing was completely unnecessary! Karan should have stuck to the original message. Shah Rukh and Kajol both did an excellent job! I don't know what some of the other reviewers are talking about when they are critiqueing the movie quite incorrectly...wonder if they saw the same movie I did? Worth watching and do take the kids....they will learn something too!

Know that this is the desi forrest gump movie. of course it is more than that, but I think this is a helpful premise for appreciating the good (The wise mother doesn't say that life is a box of chocolates, but instead shares that there are good people and bad people and that's the only difference) and for suffering through the old-school stereotyping (moral redemption comes through interactions with black people--the mammy character/katrina substitutes for bubba blue/vietnam). It has all the beauty of the "wise idiot" story updated for our times, except that it has kajol, which just makes anything better.

I was hoping a lot from this movie as SRK is back after a year but unfortunately this movie did not stand up to the expectations :( - Overdose of terrorism/muslim connection. - Overdose of his statement "I want to meet the president" He keeps shuttling (walking!!) between various states...starts from SF, reaches Georgia and then back to California...(What??) -Georgia flood: All desi's rushed to help the people but not a single govt. official!! GIVE ME A BREAK!! - The movie is too stretched!! They had lot of points where they could have ended it but it goes on and on and on.......
All in all: a total waste of money something good: Kajol looks gorgeous!!!

Kudos to Karan Johar for presenting this complex story in such a simplified manner. He did an excellent job of controlling Shah Rukh's character and has defined all others very well. Mandira stands tall and so do Sam. But, Shah Rukh is the stealer of this show !!! Such a fabulous performance !!! After Swades and Chak De India - here is another movie that proves Shah Rukh is more than just Raj Malhotra from DDLJ. Clean and sleek movie !!! No wonder if this is India's official entry for Oscars this year. No wonder if Shah Rukh gets a nomination for his Rizwan Khan. My take - Shah Rukh has put up an equivalent performance to Tam Hank's Forrest Gump !!!

The movie theme is good but as usual Karan Johas overdoes everything. I think the movie would have done without Georgia flood and both the presidents double. It is too much of a fiction. Keep the story line tight and keep the message simple. Trying to glamorizing SRK resulted in a long winding movie and somehow the impact of the message is lost. Unlike 3 idiots, where you don't remember Aamir, in this movie you keep remembering SRK and not Rizwan.

It was high time SRK came out of his angry young man and macho image and performed to his true potential - and he did. Storyline starts very well with a powerful scene from Airport security and flashes back to Rizwan's childhood. Second half of the movie drags a little and in some places Karan Johar goes over the top, a little bit. Kajol has been her wonderful self that she is and all the supporting actors have also did justice to their roles. Songs are pleasant, rhythmic and thankfully in the background.

MNIK went beyond expectations, and was an amazing film to watch.SRK was excellent in the film. Now I understand why there was so much controversy on the release of this film in India. Because people don't like to see the truth. This movie was about the millions of people who just are screaming inside, "my name is Khan and I"m not a terroist" My favorite part in the film was when SRK goes to the motel and the guy is racist, but when SRK becomes famous the greedy guy decides to make money on his name even though he didn't even shelter him on that night. It kind of reminds me of the thousands of people who are racist but then create a stampede to meet SRK in real life because he's famous or a bollywood star.

The movie is about us as humans and that we are so easy to judge. If we look deeper were all the same and that good will triumph over evil. The movie had great messages, but the fourth quarter of the movie got a little silly. They went "bollywood" in the end.

Looks like Karan Johar spent a lot of time watching Rain Man, Forrest Gump and I am Sam, rewrote the story to include Shahrukh and Kajol, with a topic that is controversial.
Direction is nothing great as Karan Johar is no magician, music is very mediocre (actually poor), editing is average and screenplay is ordinary. The only thing that stood out was cinematography by Ravi, brilliant.
The movie is 162 minutes long and 30 minutes too long. I still didn't understand how Shahrukh was wearing designer suits and expensive watches when he was just an ordinary guy.
Karan Johar should've made this movie about current racial issues in India, not issues in the U. S. A.
Overall, don't waste your money on this tearjerker, wait for the DVD.

It was a good movie, filled with lot of emotional drama. Worth watching once, with both Kajol and SRK did well again.
