I loved this movie. Jeff Bridges was amazing and it's nice to see him in a different kind of film. I often kept forgetting it was him at all. I especially enjoyed the music. I am a big fan of retro country music. The song writers did a great job of capturing the music from that era. The immediate chemistry between Bad and Jane was felt down to my toes. The only thing I think the movies lacks it good development for Jane's character. I didn't really understand why someone like her was drawn to Bad and found him so hard to shake. Of course, true love is impossible to understand, so maybe it is realistic afterall.

I thought this was a really great movie. Jeff Bridges, Maggie Gyllenhall, and even Colin Farrell in his small role were realistically complex and believable. Believe the hype about Jeff Bridges's performance in this film. He is beyond good, acheiving a level of physical alteration (without makeup) that is truly impressive. He also manages to make it just about comprehensible that someone like the Maggie Gyllenhaal character would fall for him by showing the character's charming, crazy heart. That said, I do long for the day when a broke-down 57-year-old man in a Hollywood film is redeemed by the love of a 57-year-old woman rather than a beautiful much younger girl-woman. Yes, it happens in life sometimes--but in movies it happens ALL the time.
Wouldn't skip the movie because of this though--Bridges's performance is truly not to be missed.

Jeff Bridges was believable and I felt all his angst, joys and sorrows throughout the movie. I originally thought that Maggie Gyllenhaal was miscast but I was wrong. The chemistry between her & Bridges was terrific. Gyllenhaal was also quite believable as a mother. The biggest surprise was the singing by Jeff Bridges & Colin Farrell; WOW!

Love watching Jeff Bridges do just about anything, this movie included. However imagining this character's connection with Maggie Gyllenhaal just broke the spell for me, made no sense. Aside from the age difference, what was his appeal? She clearly had no problem finding a 'really good guy' once she walked away....so why would she want to cling to that well-acted sweaty, smokey alcoholic to begin with? More development with the Colin Farrell character story line would have made more sense to me. Reasonably worth it for the music and acting.

crazy heart came highly recommended, but i found it a little depressing. it was not unlike the wrestler, aging ____, heart of gold, alienated from his offspring, meets up with much younger, more beautiful dedicated mother, messes up bigtime, redeems himself. it was fun seeing colin farrell. i like jeff bridges so it was good, but like i said, depressing, especially when he woke up with over the hill broad.

Movie had its moments, but too many scenes of watching a slobby dirty drunk vomitting....................I could almost smell him. You say he played his part well? I say 'Yes he did. In recent years I have lost faith in American films, but in Crazy Heart, Jeff Bridges gives an outstanding and raw performance comparable to Micky Rourke's in The Wrestler. The overall feeling of the movie was truly authentic and touching. There was a terrific chemistry between Bridges and Gyllenhaal rarely seen in recent pictures. I can see why Bridges was awarded the Golden Globe and should be the front runner for an Oscar. Highly recommend this movie!

I was so drawn into this movie, it was authentic, and Jeff Bridges acting is as always superb. The story was believable, and he definitely deserves an Oscar for this. he has been under-appreciated, long enough :) I recommend anyone who wants to be entertained and drawn into a very enjoyable movie go see this. You will NOT be sorry.

Yes! Jeff Bridges confirms once again that he is an amazing actor... one of the best. Well deserve golden globe. The movie is slow, it gets repetitive and we all have seen the story before. It's a cliche but it's always impressive to get in the depth of the human pain and the capacity we have to overcome it.

This wasn't acting......it was real! Bridges introduces honky tonks to those not acquainted, leads us through miriad humorous and emotional escapades, and makes the audience feel degradation, regret, panic, and finally a great movie-ending glimpse of resolution, resignation, and hope. This is reminiscent of another one of his gems years ago: "The Last Picture Show." An Academy Award is in the works here, me thinks.

This is a very SAD movie, albeit true to life. Jeff Bridges totally embodies the character, and the close-shot filming brings out the narrow world he inhabits-both inner and outer. The achievement of the film lies in its realism, and in the up-down ending that shows that, despite heartwrenching failure, what matters most is finally being true (and good) to oneself above all. A poignant portrait of being human and fragile, and possessed of the artist's spirit in a commercial world. Bridges deserves serious Oscar consideratrion- finally.
