This film doesn't have spectacular special FX and it's definitely not your regular horror movie fare (a la Wolfman). It is a terrific story, fantastic music and Jeff Bridges IS Bad Blake. The angst is there and we get to see the life of a guy who's been in the music biz so long he CANNOT do anything else. I was a little disappointed Maggie Gyllenhaal was cast as the love interest (can't Hollywood get over the older guy and WAY younger woman?) but she does a very nice acting job. All in all -- ya gotta go see it!

I was originally concerned that it was another movie like last years, "The Wrestler" after sitting through the movie I saw similarities but Jeff Bridges character was so well played I felt his hopelessness, and truly felt sorry for him. The movie dragged at times in self pity, but with the realization of what was truly important in his life he fought back. I was happy with the ending, thought it was realistic. Maggie did an excellent job, just not quite sure there are real women in the world looking like her that would fall for a character of Bad Blake but maybe there are. Over all this was a very good movie, well worth the praise it has received and I believe Jeff Bridges deserves all the awards he can get for his performance.

I kept thinking of Kris Khristopherson when seeing and hearing Jeff Bridges in his awesome portrayal of a musician; though a drunk. The music, the storyline etc. was all good, but the movie didn't have a WOW message and didn't make you want to stay in your seat in awe at the end of the show. So, it's good, but not great. I'd go see it at the theatre if there wasn't any other Oscar nominees out there; otherwise, I'd wait for it to come out on DVD.

It wasen't a movie I would run to see but because of the reviews and awards I decided to go and yes it was hard to watch some parts but all in all it was a good movie, wished it would have ended differently but realistically it ended true to every day life. so yes, it is worth seeing and the singing and playing guitar from Jeff Bridges was great, and Colin Ferrall was easy on the eyes as well and Maggie did a good job too..

Fantastic movie!! Very real, and emotional. The New Mexico setting was perfect for this film.
Jeff Bridges did an excellent job with the character. Many of the old country singers were reflected in this film.

From the moment I saw the previews, I wanted to see this movie and I wasn't disappointed! It is beautifully filmed and the acting is spectacular. Jeff Bridges should definitely get the Oscar for this movie. He became the character, Bad Blake. The story is a sad reminder of what alcohol can do to a person and all those surrounding him. Although at times, the movie is difficult to watch because of the pain, the messages that you come away with are so worth it. I would highly recommend this film.

Although never a huge Jeff Bridges fan, I still wanted to see this movie especially after finding out he actually SANG and PLAYED in the movie. It showed the brute reality that can come with post famous entertainment. It didn't tug on too many heart strings, but it did give value to how important it is to keep the faith and put one foot in front of the other, soberly! Music was great and actually quite fun!

It is well acted and very subtle with its message. It's not action packed so don't go if you want a shoot 'em up. Country/Western fans will love the music. There are some comedic moments and I'm sure movie goers will identify with some of the characters.

Jeff Bridges definately deserves this award. After seeing the talk shows starting in January with Jeff and Ryan Bingham, I was so confused why I could not find the movie playing anywhere. Finally.....my wait was worthwhile !!! This was one of the best movies I have seen in a very long time. Great story and so true to life of struggling musicians. Loved this movie. Jeff Bridges was great, the music was wonderful (especially if you are a Country Music fan). Robert Duvall was so good, as usual. Loved the "fishing" scene! Would recommend this movie to anyone that likes great acting. Colin F nice to look at,. and Maggie G. was O.K. but at times she didn't seem as believable as the others. What a great story about alcoholic recovery. My only complaint was that sometimes the dialog was so "quiet" that I couldn't hear it.

Absolutely Oscar worthy. Jeff Bridges excellant portrayal of a falling country star and eventual recovery and rebirth. Loved seeing Robert Duvall , one of my favorite actors

This is without a doubt the best movie I have seen in a very long time. Jeff Bridges is superb and Collin Farrell is more gorgeous than ever. Maggie G. was also really great. It brought back so many memories for an "older" person. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone--if you only see one movie this year, make it this one--u won't be sorry!
