Jeff Bridges is definitely at the top of his game in this one. Maggie G. is also wonderful in it. It took me a while to recognize Colin Ferrell, and who knew he could sing? And Old Reliable Bob Duvall in a cameo as the barkeep. Just an amazing, 'tear your heart out' kinda film. Lots of good, original, gritty music for C+W fans. We (all four of us) loved it. Bittersweet ending, but reality would have it no other way, I think.

Thought Jeff did a terrific acting job. For me, it dragged in places and not the ending I expected. He was made up to look so bad that I felt sorry or him and wanted to clean him up.

I went to see this movie only because Jeff Bridges had gotten 2 awards for his performance -- and they were well deserved. If I didn't know better I would think this had been his life, from the polyester pants with the cowboy belt and boots, the studded shirts and loosened pants and bloated belly, a great acting job and a testament to every worn out, aging drinker and smoker out there -- things change if you change. He deserves the Oscar.

Jeff Bridges deserves all the critical raves he is getting for his "Bad" performance. I did not sllep a wink during this movie. There was great action and enegy without guns and fighting. I sat through all the credits to assure myself that it was indeed Jeff and Colin singing the songs. Great stuff.

As a former traveling musician, I can relate to the life style and the ups and downs associated with it. Some critics complained about the movie being a little slow in parts, I didn't find that to be true. I felt that the quiet times and less active times of the move were true to the life style. Jeff Bridges does a believable job looking and acting just like a burned out musician trying to make ends meet while struggling to rekindle his music career and love life. The only knock I would give on the movie would be the title of the movie. Go take a loved one to it you'll both enjoy it.

The story is pretty good I guess. You really never find out what exactly happened between Bad and Tommy. The music is good, and honestly Jeff Bridges could be a down home country bar singer! What a joy to watch an excellent actor bring the character of "Bad Blake" to life with such truth and integrity. The redemption story is familiar but it's Bridge's portrayal of this broken man searching for connection and acceptance of his own truth that makes this film memorable.

There's little country music in my iPod, but this is a soundtrack I plan on buying...hope it's got Robert Duval's singing the song he sings while fishing with Bad.

Jeff Bridges does a great acting job and the music is fun, but the plot is weak. It's completely unbelievable that Maggie Gyllenhall's character would be attracted to Bad Blake, who is near the bottom of his alcoholism when she meets him, not to mention that he's twice her age.
Putting aside that implausibility, the story is flat and plot-by-number. I see I'm in the minority of reviewers here, but five of the seven people I saw this with agreed with me.
