This is a great film. I felt it was wonderfully gritty and Jeff Bridges played this role to a tee. Being musician myself, I can attest to the pitfalls assciated with this life style. The only critisism I have is the unreal way the script dealt with the unlikely way this young woman so easily and quickly fell in love with Bad Blake(Bridges' character). At times Maggie Gyllenhaal, Blakes's love interest, seemed that she couldn't stand being around him because of his drunkeness, but subjected hersefl and young son to him anyway.

Good Drama. Bridges is believable, reminded me of Ole Waylon. Suprised at his vocal skills, obviously not a great country singer, but darn good for this role. Good story too, hard to watch, downright disgusting at times, as Bad Blake battles his demons with Alcohol. Bought the soundtrack on Itunes. If you like Waylon, Willie, Old Haggard and wondered how the "Outlaws of Country" may have really lived thier lives, then you'll find this movie interesting.

My husband wanted to see this movie; I didn't think I would like it, but went anyway. I ended up loving it! Jeff Bridges certainly deserved the academy award (and others) he received for his outstanding performance. He made you think he was Bad Blake - not Jeff Bridges. Go and see this. I found this movie extremely boring. Yes they got it right Jeff Bridges was great, but even him I didn't care about, I cared about no one in this movie because there was no character development the movie just goes on and while I wait for something to happen, it ends up being a boring look at reality through the eyes of an alcoholic and a woman who apparently cannot choose men wisely.

My wife and I were a bit disappointed in this movie, based on high expectations as a result of the buzz. Not a bad flick by any means, and Bridges definitely put in a good performance, but Duvall's character was not developed at all. As a big Duvall fan, I was particularly disappointed in his little more than cameo appearances. We also both thought the speech from the emergency room doc was absurd.

I would have liked the movie to be a little longer and show more of his signing. He really needs to get out there and start acting again. Great portrayal of feelings from the "heart". Can't wait for the Soundtrack. I recommend to Greensboro, NC...

Sometimes when people make a film about one riveting character, they forget to develop the other characters or have them do things that make little sense. Then they need to come up with an ending that ties together all sorts of lose ends. That's Crazy Heart. Jeff Bridges is so good as a self-involved self-destructive alcoholic it can be tough to watch at times. The script doesn't help him as he is called upon to repeat the same scene several times, but he pulls it off beautifully.

Movie portrays the life of talented, but down and out country singer, Bad Blake. He is on the road most of the time in his old, battered pick-up truck. Bad is in a downward spiral of almost non-stop alcohol abuse, playing bowling alleys and little bars. He once had a successful career, but after 4 broken marriages, heart-wrenching drunkeness, he's just about hit rock bottom. The heart of this movie is Jeff Bridges, his acting is outstanding. I believe he deserves to win and will win an Oscar for his performance. The country music singing in this movie is well done. Colin Farrell is also excellent as the young singer who Bad mentored, and who has gone on to super-stardom, but has not forgotten his friend. Enjoyed this movie!!

This film was truly incredible. Run do not walk to the theatre if you want to see some of the best performances in recent memory from Jeff Bridges and Maggie Gyllenhaal. The screenplay provides such an incredible arc for the characters that you come away feeling like you just went through a lifetime with them. Also a surprisingly understated performance by Colin Farrell.
