The critics must have watched a different movie, because i thought that this film was very entertaining. The storyline is not going to win any awards, but it was good enough to keep my and my wife engaged from beginning to end. The twist is certainly not something that is expected. One of the better movie that I have seen in a long time. Everything I look for in a movie- action, edge of your seat, character with integrity, and a moral to the story. No sex scenes... maybe that is why others haven't liked it. I will definetly watch it again when it is out on DVD.

This wasn't a bad movie but it wasn't spectacular either. I would say if you're one of those who really wants/expects alot out of a movie for what you are paying you should pass but if you enjoy the whole movie experience it is worth seeing on the screen.

Took two thirteen year old boys on a Sunday afternoon. Perfectly palatable combination of horror schlock (witches/demons/excorcisms) with medieval trappings (plague/crusades). Cage and Perlman look great in their crusader costumes BUT their line readings are straight 20th century. I guess if you are an actor just working to pay the bills this is what you do. Nice performances from the youngest cast members Claire Foy and Robert Sheehan who do read their lines as if they have careers ahead of them that need stoking. Not too scary and interesting enough and short enough at 90 minutes. All in all fine for ages 10 and up.

I enjoyed the twists and turns. Near the end I thought I might see Bruce Campbell perform a cameo--to no avail. All in all it was an enjoyable viewing experience. I would recommend it to friends.

While the visual presentation is stunning from the scenes outside to the special effects the acting is very much of this world--canned 21st Century. Arguements over who will have to be "buying the drinks" later at the start of a large battle in a desert just doesn't make it. My wife, did like the movie and would give it 4 stars but I think that is because she like Nicolas Cage. So if you are into religiohorror films from the 1300 hundreds with modern lines, this is for you. Not me.

A journeyman effort by Cage. Does the play of character differences between Cage and Perlman hint at an underlying theme of the "goodness within man vs. the "evil" of the church" in that period? Perlman takes no side, he only seeks to maintain the bond of friendship that exists with Cage. The supporting cast provides credible decision points for the two lead actors. The PG-13 rating may be a little weak - but given the blood and guts nature of most role player video games, it probably fits in with what todays youths are accustomed to. Overall, an enjoyable visual diversion. I liked it.

I found this movie to be a waste of my time. It is predictable and there is no real depth to any characters. Cage has one emotion the whole time - mopey. The special effects are nothing special and the action is pretty weak as well. Perlman is the most likable character and that says a lot about the casting choice. The best part was the daemon sounding like Yoda from Star Wars when he is cursing Cage. (Listen carefully and you will see what I mean - if you are stubborn enough to see this before it comes out on cable.) NOT FOR KIDS despite the PG-13 rating.

I have to admit, Nicholas Cage was pretty boring in this movie but I think that Ron Perlman added enogh comic relief to counteract it. The plot kept thickening and kept into the movie. It was a great movie about unsung heroes and I recommend watching it.

First off let me say that the duo put together of Nicholas Cage and Ron Perlman was clearly missing a connection and was... awkward. Through the dialogue of Perlman it was clear that he was set up as comic relief throughout the film but failed to deliver any ounce of laughter to the audience, the only laughter I got was from his dull performance. As for cage, he seemed lifeless throughout the film, you could see the baseline energy in his character but that was where it stopped, the dialogue seemed as though they were reading the lines straight off the script...maybe if they had chosen too speak in an accent that would have been apparent in the time frame of the movie, such as the king or other characters....now wait a minute....why is the entire character lineup speaking in accent when Cage and Perlman seem to be talking as depressed immigrants from America? I guess the fight scenes were put there to distract the audience of that fact and have them holding on to their seats...yeah, that didn't work to well, after the movie your left with images from the beginning 300 like sieges, the unexpected CGI ending, and a blurry mess of everything in between.

the combo of cage and perlman prove to have just enough star power to carry the plot not a role we are used to from cage but all in all good amount of action great cgi and a fantastic storyline

I think that this was better than most movies of this type. There was a plot and and a viable story line. I thought it was better than the 2nd Lieutenant that is the last movie that I saw Cage in. I hope to rent it when it goes to video. Fun entertaining not to frightening good special effects.

It wasn't exactly what we were expecting. Thought there would be more about witches but they seemed to focus more on the possession of the one girl. Nicolas Cage has done better movies.

Critics don't know squats. When I go to a movie theatre...I just want the movie to entertain me and make sure I'm not looking at my watch to find out how long left.
Season of the Witch is a good movie in that it has that horror factor about it as well the light sense of humor.
It's a movie that will help past time if that is what you want.
