I was thrilled by the Encore telecast (had not bought ticket in time for live performance availability, which was months ago!). I came to the movie theater not feeling too well, but left invigorated. What a performance on everyone's part, and what sets and costumes! And I was so glad to get to know this opera. Obviously, I'll have to listen more to get the melodies. The acting and singing were heartfelt, 100%. I thought the soprano's singing was just a little tense-throated in places, but she was lovely.
HD telecasts beat being at the Met, for reasons others have already outlined. Plus, it's so democratic--everyone can feel at home.

While the presentation was magnificent, it started 55 minutes late, which is inexcusable in for any production, but especially bad in light of the a 3 hour and 45 minute run time. The management should have taken the initiative to cut the two 20-minute intermissions to 10 minutes each.

Everything about this HD broadcast was fabulous: the voices, scenery, acting, orchestra, the opera itself. It is a wonderful experience to be able to see these world-class presentations close to home and for such a reasonable price.

Simon Boccanegra was spectacular; the music, the acting, the voices, etc. I have been attending all of this year's operas Live in HD and find it fascinating to learn so much more than I could if I actually went to the Met.

Being a novice at opera, I found this way of seeing and hearing a performance to be wonderful! It was great seeing close up what goes on in the music pit and backstage, hearing the singers and conductor interviewed between acts, and attending great opera in an affordable way. So thanks, Metropolitan Opera, for this engaging and wowing and very accessible performance!

La Jolla UTC had one projectionist for 12 projectors so management of the house was terrible, leaving the lights on until someone complained. The Opera itself was great.
