Wonderful production, spectacular singers. Technical problems with an opaque label that appeared during each act was extremely annoying, but fortunately the glorious sound was not affected. The theare at 62nd & 1st is a slum.

A grand and glorious production of my favorite opera. Beautiful, touching performances by Fleming and Graham., Gorgeous costumes and scenery. Sublime music. Not to be missed!

I loved the production. Renee Fleming was superbly beautiful, and had queenly deportment (despite rollicking with Octavian). Susan Graham as Octavian was believable, in both facial expression and body language. Her singing was superb. My only problem with her was her superfluous "busy-ness" during Act I, when she allegedly was trying to leave the room. Kristinn was hilariously and effectively offensive as Ochs, though during Act I he often did not look at the person whom he was addressing. The music composition was superb, not the least important aspect being the waltzes -- I felt that Richard Strauss was at least Johann Strauss's equal in composing superb waltz music.

This was my first exposure to Der Rosenkavalier and Strauss. Wonderful way to see grand opera. Renee and Susan were spectacular. Such beautiful women. Especially enjoyed seeing all the set changes between acts and the interviews with the stars. The set for Act II was amazing. No wonder they need long intermissions - to change the sets.

The Metropolitan Opera's production of Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier now looks a bit tired but the performance was anything but. All of the leads were in great form, giving performances that were detailed and moving or by turn funny. However, the evening belonged to Susan Graham whose Octavian, aside from being beautifully sung, was extraordinarily believable. The same could be said for the Ochs. Flemming was a lovely sensuous Marschallin but hers was not the last word on the subject. On occasion I missed the charm of, say, Elizabeth Schwartzkopf whose identification with the role lingers in the memory. Still, all around, this was a deeply moving account, made even better by the verve and vitality of Edo de Waart's conducting.

I thought the film/opera was wonderful--great singing, lovely music, and humor used to develop a worthy theme. Loved Renee Fleming, Susan Howard, and the Icelandic bass. What a treat!

Splendid performance. Set design was amazing and the music was sublime. Indeed, such a delight to be able to enjoy the MET performances through HD in the movie theaters. It is the most practical and affordable way to enjoy an exquisite artform.
