The actors perfomed well, the story kept me interested. I enjoyed the documentary footage along with the dramatization--the movie left me wanting more information and feeling very disturbed at the end. Lots of questions unanswered. I am glad that I saw it.

This was more of a documentary like Balir Witch project etc. If you think you are going to see a movie don't bother. While it is based on facts, it was slow tedious and not entertaining. wld only recommend to a film class learning how to make a documentary

The film is shot with an artistic flair that successfully blurs the lines of what is "movie" and what is "actual". It succeeds in what it tries to do. I found the concept original and engrossing. The moments of "real" footage will leave you feeling goosebumps. There have been people that criticize the studio for "tricking" people into believing the film is real and blast Universal for its marketing campaign of falseness. I find that funny. I normally love UFO/Abduction-themed media and despite what the reviewers warned, I saw it in the theater. Maybe with a packed audience you will get some benefit of audience ambience, otherwise I say "rent it" when it comes out on DVD.
The movie itself had fast/interesting parts and slow irrelevant parts. The pacing was all over the place. A big problem for me was the importance of the main character's husband who was not filled out for the viewer making it hard to care about that relationship and significance. I wanted to like this but have to agree with the critics. 2 stars.

Not bad. Not Incredible....but not bad. Listening to many main stream critics I would have thought this movie would make no sense, have no flow or congruity and be just one big mess. Not so. I'm not sure that I've ever seen a documentary style movie with actual footage combined with actor performance and actual audio footage work as well as this movie does. It drew me in and kept me interested for it's entire 98 minutes. I can't wait for part II which we can only hope will explain everything. Aliens? Angels? Demonic? Other dimensional? Mass hallucinations? What the heck is going on here?

'The Fourth Kind' tells a good story in a visually interesting location, but it loses points for claiming to be a true story. It's not nice to lie to your audience! The split screen with the supposed 'actual footage' was distracting, and made it look like the movie was trying too hard to make us believe it was real. If it would have used one side or the other, it would have been better. Also, why were these people so terrified by the alleged abductions that they committed suicide? It's never explained, and difficult to buy into.

It's very easy to become disappointed if you have expectations of the movie you're about to watch. I found 'The Fourth Kind' to be intriguing simply because I'm a UFO enthusiast. The real identities of the people involved were omitted. The preview to this movie also revealed 'real' footage but in the film it was never said whether everything was based on a true story or events just 'based on case studies' so I'm really hoping it is.The film is unique in the way it was shot; a split screen with the real footage on one side and the dramatization on the other. It makes for awesome suspense. I recommend this film to anyone with an open mind and intrigue for the unknown.

Wouldn't go as far as to say it was the BEST movie I have ever seen, but it did do a good job stretching your mind and lots of discussion afterwards. A great concept to have a movie within a movie, and the spilt screen scenes were well done.

I thought this was going to be an actual movie, the previews mislead me, i had no idea it was going to be a documentary. and i thought it was a little convenient that all of the actual footage was distorted or stopped filming right as something was about to happen, coincidence i think not

This is the movie that others only hope to be -- creepy as all heck. It scared the bejeezus out of me and left me afraid to go home alone. I've long been fascinated by the film's subject and went in expecting a tame rehashing of information I'd already read about. Boy, was I wrong. There are so many jaw-dropping and OMG moments in this movie. I literally got chills over and over again to the point that I realized I was seeing something I'd been waiting all my life for -- tangible, real evidence. Even for someone well-versed in the material there is enough here to blow one's mind. I cannot imagine anyone who is not a "believer" walking out of this film the same person. Few movies can change your perception on the world. This one will.

The movie acting and the real footage was excellent to see and quite disturbing. Movie definately left you wondering about things. It's arrogant to think that we are the only life in the universe out of more than billions and trillions of galaxies. Movie is a must see!
