This was just ok, nothing great, but it is more updated for this generation. It is basically the same plot with a few differences, but the dancing was not even that good! The acting was just average, and this is one to Red Box or download off the net!

this movie was the worst i have ever seen. i took my girl friend and she was grossed out by the movement of these peoples bodies. i wanted a good christian movie not R Kelly bump and grind. I don't remember the main character in the original getting shot or his car exploding. where did that come from? i expected this to be a wholesome movie not a MTV video. I showed the original in Sunday school for finding faith. i will not show this in Sunday school. why does there have to be killing and explosions in movies to make them good?

Well acted and directed. Good set/location and costuming. Nice mix of veteran and lesser known actors. Some scenes/dialogue too steamy for tweeners. Lot's of well-known dancers were slipped into the too few crowd dance scenes. Loved the choreography and dancing but, as a movie marketed for it's dancing, there was not nearly enough. Julianne Hough's dance skills were sadly underutilized. This movie screamed for a couple of drawn out dance sequences and it was disappointing to have such skilled dancers given so little to do.

I am a huge fan of the original movie and was really worried that I would hate the remake. Boy was I wrong!!! It was fantastic!!! The way they made it current, but kept the key things from the original was amazing! I wanted to see it again as soon as it was over and I will definitely be buying it when comes out on DVD!!!!

Reminiscent of "some" scenes in the original, of course a "remake" would add modern twists to todays genre and try to play towards today's younger audience... But the music remakes have nothing against the original soundtracks, and REALLY does not fit with adding crump dance scenes and Rap music...to the misic and choreography, it just doesnt fit. Absolutely cannot stand up to the choreography in the old warehouse scene. I did enjoy the modern cinemetography, and if film technology was as good in the 80s as this was done, there would be no question in my mind, this movie has nothing against the original. Soundtrack...can't go from hip hop to classic rock, and Madonna...even Miles Teller's character seemed like he was trying too hard for that comic relief with learning to dance...not as true, expressing his frustration, and trying to stay out of fights.
I would give 2 stars, but "fair" isn't a fair rating for a good effort movie that has a this much less of a stand next to the original. If there was a "eh" or "a bit less than so-so" rating...1.5 stars at best for me.

For a remake, it was good but the original cast and the MUSIC was much better. Didn't like the dirty dancing - it was not necessary. Busses vs tractors? I'm all for diversity however Hollywood went over the top being politically correct here. The cast is not believable to the location. The town doesn't allow dancing but would tolerate a bi-racial girl dating a white guy. The story line does not ring true and insults the audience intellignce.
The acting was well done. Willard was my favorite! Would recomend to the yound ones today.

Old enough to still like original best. Updated but Kevin Bacon was still best and this lead did not meet his skills. The message the preacher gave to him at the end, in the church, was poignent, meaningful and moving. Having lost a child especially. The ending scene, dance was way to short in proportion of other parts, showing of other cast members. Good in spite of reviews and they were awful conpared to what I would rate this movie.

This was a great movie. I loved the updated version. It was much more contemporary and had a diverse cast. The actors cast were perfect for their parts. I still love the first Footloose also but this was an amazing remake. I enjoyed them both and will buy the DVD when it releases.

Absolutely amazing! I have already seen it twice and plan to go again plus purchase the DVD when it comes out. I haven't seen the 1984 original, so I can't compare the two. I really enjoyed the 2011 remake. It was fun to watch. While Kenny Wormald (Ren) and Julianne Hough (Ariel) won't win an Oscar for their acting, Miles Teller (Willard) is one to watch. I loved Miles in this film. I can't wait to see him on screen again.

This movie was great and entertaining, almost wanted to get up and dance myself! The music was updated and they made things more modern so the younger audiance could relate better, yet it was still true to the original. The dancing was a lot, A LOT better in this one having professional dancers really helped. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good movie or an excellent remake.

I loved it.I liked how they brought some of the old movie in and added new. Willard was so funny. I can not wait till the DVD comes out.I think this Footloose is better than the other one.

Awesome Remake!! This movie was awesome. The opening was great, a great change from the original. The minor changes made the movie fun to watch. Ariel, Wren, Rusty, and Willard were so much fun to watch and they were funny at times. The inclusion of new characters, music, and scenes was wonderful. I cannot wait to see this movie again.
