I liked the movie, and have always liked Mel Gibson. Story line was a little slow. Paid $21.00 to see at the theatre. Wished I would have just waited til it came out on dvd though. Would have been cheaper and just as enjoyable.

This movie was so good, we went to see it twice! There are 3 scenes in which I screamed out loud! Mel Gibson was fantastic. He was so good, and I think he found a different venue of which to draw from. Memorable script and great action--but the reason it was great was the good acting and surprises. This was an action movie that provoked true emotion from the audience. I have only ever given 5 stars to 7 movies in my lifetime.

The movie was good. At times however, it was a bit slow. The best scene is the when one of his daughter almost gets killed by as she is exiting the car. Sweet ending!

One has to acknowledge the baggage Gibson now brings with him. Mel was the model of a major movie star. He was charismatic, funny and kept his private life out of the tabloids. He mostly picked the right movies too. But after he won the Oscar for the absurdly overrated Braveheart, Gibson changed. He starred in too many grim movies which were devoid of his sense of humor, possibly his greatest strength as an actor. Then came The Passion of the Christ, which exposed Gibson for what he really is. Thereafter, whatever demons he had been hiding seemed to take over his life completely, most notably in that ugly DUI arrest in 2006 when he spewed sexist and anti-Semitic insults. Bottom line; movie and its "star" are both terrible.

This was a decent effort from Mel Gibson. Great acting, good story, but extremely slow and boring at times. I even dozed off for about 10 minutes and I never fall asleep on movies. I think this would even be hard to watch at home, because it's so slow. The quality of this film is by all means top notch, but it just wasn't my type of movie. Again the acting was great, but it just didn't have enough oomph for me.

I went to this movie with little expectation, but ended up being lured into this Raymond Chandler like story.
I enjoyed the twists and turns of the story line, but Mel played the man on the edge, but in a more mature way than in Lethal Weapon. A man driven by his need to know and his need to have justice. The periodic episodes with his daughter developed that relationship in a way that gave insight to his emotional state but also in his grieving process. Being a father of girls I was pulled into his grief and his relationship with his daughter. Some may have found the ending rather corny, but I found it satisfying.

It has some brief surprise moments of action that will leave you breathless for that moment...
Overall some moments are a little cheesy and predictable but bearable. I watch a lot of movies and go from the ratings I find at metacritic and hollywood.com. They are usually a good way to go to figure out what is the best movie to see available. That is what this was, the best one that I had not seen yet out of lots of movies with low ratings. The rating on this movie was not high but high enough to be like...eh ok we'll go watch it. Was not a waist of time but on the verge.
PS my girlfriend did not like it at all except for one part that caught her off guard...no spoilers btw

It's not one of his best but a pretty decent movie and worth seeing. Movie drags a bit at times and the plot gets a little too complicated for it's own good. Good performance by Gibson and the other actors. Wish they had given Ray Whinstone a bigger part. Overall I enjoyed the movie and would recommend it. At least this one is in english unlike the last 2 movies he directed.

I would recommend this movie to my friends and family who are eligible to view it. A lot of violence but a surprising story line. The only reason I would not give it 5 stars is that some of the dialogue is difficult to hear; you can piece it together but it would improve the movie to have clearer dialogue, particularly that spoken by the British character.

We touched on this movie possibly being Gibson's grandstand return to the acting world. But it's not. You don't have be a critic to agree while this movie grips on the strings of parenthood, Gibson's skills as a dynamic and layered actor aren't really explored or utilized. With that being said, this isn't a "Braveheart" Gibson but more of a "Pay Back" one. The violent death of Craven's daughter leaves a lasting impression setting the pace for what's to follow.

This movie was great! Not to mention is has some scenes in it that will really make you jump!! Grown man or not! This is a must see. Mel Gibson was great and he couldn't have played the part any better. This movie is so intense and thought provoking you sometimes forget you are watching a movie. I will definently have this movie in my dvd collection. Go see it people!
