Good movie. I didn't think it was possible to remake a classic and have it turn out better than the classic. Well they did it and they did it very well. Now we have two classic versions of Red Dawn.
Great action movie; not the best movie I've ever seen but it's worth watching. Excellent special effects and well thought out plot. Interesting bunch of actors and actresses though.
Great job on the story and script. I don’t always like remakes (e.g. “Longest Yard”, “Day the Earth Stood Still”), but I very much enjoyed this one. I do like it when a remake of a movie recreates a few dialogue matches from the original screenplay, even if they aren’t exact or varied intentionally to provide for unpredictability at the same time. It makes me smile and also allows for a certain degree of continuity and flow. Some of the acting was a little short of spectacular, but satisfying entertaining. Good action sequences and effective use of non-cgi special effects to just the right degree without it being overdone. Any use of cgi, in my opinion, was used clandestinely enough that I really didn’t even notice it. I just wish the camera work wasn't so unnecessarily, if not intentionally "shaky and "herky-jerky". But, I thoroughly enjoyed the entire movie. If you enjoyed the original, I think you will enjoy this one too.
Pros well paced, great story
Cons acting just ok
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Was actually a nice remake. Liked how occupying force was current versus stale old Russian Shtick.
I thought the movie was pretty good, however, not as good as the original. They should have kept with the original script using the Chinese it would have been better, North Korea was a silly replacement ... lol
This pitiful remake is nothing more than a hurried excuse to make money off of an 80′s action brand that made its money off of the pretty faces that starred in it, by doing more of the same. Oh well, we’ve got Chris Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson, right? (both fine actors, by the way). But wait, hell with them, let’s have a greasy-looking, stoner-faced, mumbling Josh Peck as our war-torn hero. These “pretty faces” fill out the empty space where the rest of the story about a hostile North Korean attack on American soil should be. Wait, where’s the United States military? Hell with them, there’s some device that shut them all down, and these kids are our last hope! Yeah, right. If you can tie an anchor to every last one of your disbeliefs and drown them in the waters of horrible cinema, then maybe you can appreciate one or two of the well-orchestrated and intense action scenes that “Red Dawn 2.0″ has to offer. Maybe you can even grow attached to some of the characters. But hell with all that, and hell with an ending. That’s the reward for your investment. But hey, the studios probably made enough money for a sequel. So there’s that.

Good movie, introducing some new actors and others making their way to the big screen....Chris Hensworth rocks his role and of course have to mention Josh Hutcherson since he is from our neck of the woods! The teens as well as the adults will love this action filled movie!
Pros great story
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I have served in the Army for over 20 years with 3 tours overseas and I believe this movie was well executed. The plot changes actually helped the movie flow a little better than the original in my opinion and it kept me on the edge of my seat. Reality as it pertains realistic scenarios and situations was for the most part believable, although there were some scenes of almost super human feats, thats the Hollywood twist. Still very well executed and I will definately watch it again and buy it on Blue Ray.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors
Cons some actors need seasoning
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Enjoyed the movie. Special effects were great....not too overdone...believable. I never got bored watching. The only thing I would have liked to have seen was how they were getting in and out of town so easily.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This updated version of Red Dawn is not what you remember. Some of the character names are the same and there are some similar plot points, but I wouldn't consider this a real remake. The special effects were good and the movie moved quickly enough that I never felt bored. Any in-depth evaluation of the movie will show the plot is very shaky, but so was the original. This version of Red Dawn is just as hokey as the original, but isn't that why we loved it? I would recommend anyone who just wants to see a fast action movie that doesn't require much thought.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Sorry, this wasn't Red Dawn. Stop remaking movies that didn't suck. Some of the worst acting ive seen in quite some time. Not only did the movie stray from the original, the ending was HORRIBLE. I didn't want to see this movie, but the GF so i went.
I loved the movie and thought it had a great storyline and a great cast. It was a really good remake. I deffinetely recammend it to others especially ones that love action movies. I am definetely going to buy it when it comes out of DVD and I will most likely see it again in theaters.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I expected this to be a marginal remake of the original. To me, it was better. I expected one of today's action movies where the stunts were not realistic and the computer generated graphic special effects were a little unbelievable and cartoonish. There was none of this. I kept waiting for the gratuitous sex scene which never happened. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against sex, but if it doesn't contribute to the story, it is obviously there to attract the teenage boy audience. This movie had no sex or nudity. It didn't need to be in the movie and they actually kept it out! The language wasn't even as bad as some of the new relaxed standards on cable where they use B. S. every minute in awkward situations. There was a fair amount of cussing, but the language fit the scene. It didn't get thrown in there just for the sake of the words. The acting was very good from a cast of young people. The only think I didn't like (at all) was the use of the herky-jerky camera during some of the action scenes. When people are running, it looks like a five year old is chasing them with a camera. I'm sure some film school teaches this stuff as some type of realistic effect, but it doesn't do anything for me.
I recommend the new "Red Dawn".
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, no gratuitous sex, no nudity
As retired Military and Father of a Marine, and given the state of our current Government, this is reality! It's leading up to it now. Action packed! Really makes you think.
