This was a really good movie, but it wasn't necessary for it to be in 3D what so ever. The dancing was really cool in this one, but the storyline is still really close to the first 2. I liked how they made Moose (Step Up 2) and Camille (Step Up; though i don't see how they knew each other...) main characters though, and brought more characters back from the second one, though the original characters would be nice to see. I don't think they should make another one unless it brought back the original characters back and showed all of them now, married and profesional dancers & stuff. But this was a good movie.

I knew Step Up 3D would be really cool in eye popping dimension. The effects were not disappointing, it's got a cooler move than the other two (except for the last battle which I expected a little more). The different varieties of dance and music just blend to the moves with a unique cinematography.
It's the 3rd movie and I feel the acting became a little cheesy because of a little boring writing.

If you decide to go see this movie, see it for what it is: a dance movie. Because honestly, the dancing is about the only thing great about this movie. The dance battles are spectacular and all the dance sequences are off the chain. The 3D effects are awesome, and add lots of depth and wow to an otherwise so-so movie. Adam Sevani as "Moose" is adorable and hilarious and a surprisingly great dancer. As far as plot, character development, decent acting, even pacing, all the other elements essential to good movie making: don't expect to see any of that here.

Step Up 3D was outstanding..the dancing was exciting and the story line was great....there was great balance between the story and the dancing...I loved this movie...If there was anything to criticize it would be that there was not enough of Legacy in it.

It was exactly what i expected even better than the first two!!! Usually it gets worse not better....I was very impressed and it grasped my 7 year old interest through the whole movie!!!! She loves dancing anyway. Some people are just bad movie critics, u know in your heart when a movie will be good when u see the trailer or preview, so never take someone else advice if you want to see it go see it.......It shows the best dance moves and competition and that's all thats to be expected. going in i knew i wasn't going to be getting stellar acting, or good dialogue. which it was neither acting nor dialogue - discuss. the cheesy 3D gimmicks (the slurpee, the hands at the camera) had me rolling my eyes. however, the dancing was quite good in places. and i loved watching my SYTYCD stars getting features. overall, it was fair to average. not worth the $12 per se unless you truly have nothing else to do.

I love all the step up movie but hand down Step Up 3D is the best out of the three. If you are going to watch the movie, watch it in 3D the 3D make it more fun to watch.

My step daughter{13 yrs old} who is visting us for the summer always watch together So You Think You Can Dance, we love that show so when this movie came out she begged me to take her. I was a little apprehensive being "older" BUT I have to say I think I enjoyed it just as much as she did and we liked looking for all the dancers that perform on So you Think You Can Dance, she was stilll dancing when we got home!

This movie is all about the dancing, and it was awesome, as expected. The story was actually very cute. An old plotline, but it hasn't been done in a while. Fairly good acting, AWESOME dancing, and I loved Moose as a lead. A very welcome appearance by Alyson Stoner. When I saw her walking into NYU as Moose's best friend, I was really excited. She's great. Luke and Natalie were awesome. The 3D graphics were really cool. It was painfully obvious that some scenes were designed just to be cool in 3D, and I could have done with a little less of that. It got tired after the sixth or seventh one. For that, I would give it 4.5 stars.
But if you haven't seen it you should. I doubt anyone will even need to read this review. IT'S STEP UP 3D!! Who needs advice on whether or not they should see it?? Just go!

I was invited w/ a group to support BGIRL SIMI who i call SIMI-AUTOMATIC! I was there strictly to see her bcuz the first 2 Step Ups were sooo cheesy! But the BBoyin and overall hardcore dance scenes were def a payoff! I would luv to see some brown faces playin the leads in Step Up but i guess it wouldnt be Step Up then! So many movies in 3D are simply regular movies with an occasional 3D effect, but Step Up was truly in your face from beginning to end and had great action anyway that would have been nice to watch in 2D! Thoroughly enjoyed it!!

The bad news: some of the dance moves seemed repetitive after a short while; also, the idea that dance battles are as fearsome as fist fights is a little weak--I wish they used more martial arts in the film, particularly with certain scenes (although I realize that this clearly reveals my bias and love of violent action movies); and finally, some of the "street slang" and "cool" handshakes might actually get someone mocked and killed if used actually used outside of the suburbs (I imagine the gangs and street bangers of New York would just laugh, while average citizens would pummel you to death for such silliness).
The good news:
First, the movie was clearly made for 3D, and the directors and editors of the film clearly understood how to maximize the effectiveness of the medium. I've typically been under impressed with movies that are primarily designed to be non cartoon/real life action feeling movies that have done 3D. This movie truly sets the bar for 3D films.
Second, despite what I said earlier, the choreography of the dance in this film is amazing. The directors and editors were smart to limit the film to 1hr 37min for two reasons: 1) the talent, artistry, and athleticism of the dancers were amazing to watch (I was aware at how sad i was to even start having the afore mentioned negative criticism as I was watching the film--it's why I didn't give the film 5 stars--and it's why it was good that I wasn't given more time to have such a criticism grow); 2) they made overt and covert homages to Michael Jackson (which I thought was pretty nostalgic and classy--made me remember why MJ was loved so much, given some of the rest of his history); and 3) they used Capoeira in several parts of the film (which, by limiting the time of the film, made me long for more of the film--I like it when a film delivers and can make me want more).
Third, they did an impressive job in pulling off a cohesive integration of multiple plots and subplots--well done guys!
Fourth, the movie overall was a happy movie that reminded one of the pleasure of living life. While at times cheesy, it was refreshing to watch. And I must admit, sometimes I even like the cheese.

just saw this with my 9 yr. old. we both thought it was great, especially the dance scenes. the dancing was off the wall and totally worth the trip. as a dance loving family we would definetly recommend this movie to anyone who appreciates a good dance movie and likes to watch former sytycd contestants do their thing. we both loved moose and twitch. wish there were more dance movies like this coming out.

Even if you aren't a dancer you can certainly appreciate the athleticism of the actors/dancers. I think this is the best of the series, however, I would have loved to see Channing Tatum back.

The dance experience was fantastic, however, the plot was less than creative. World competition? The 3D effects for dancing and the dance routines were interesting & creative. Will their be a Step Up 4? How many worlds can there be??

I absolutely LOVED this movie! The dance scenes in 3D were incredible. It was awesome to see Twitch and Legacy dance. Twitch is a break out star in this film. He did it all...act AND dance.
