I took my 12 yr.old nephew to see it. He has read all the books in this series. He enjoyed every minute of the movie. I found it quite entertaining as well. It did have a Wonder Years quality about it. This is a good movie see for all ages.

My kids love the "Wimpy Kid" book series and my husband and I were very excited when we saw the movie was coming out. We were a bit unnerved when we found out the movie was going to be live-action instead of animated--we didn't think it would work. Fortunately, we were dead wrong! This movie was entertaining for all of us! I recommend this movie for kids going through middle school, for kids preparing for middle school and adults that have survived middle school!

It teaches us, young and old about some good old-fashioned values, much needed in our current society. We laughed and were saddened by some of the main characters decisions, but in the end he did what was right and his friendship was restored. My son looked forward to seeing this movie as soon as he saw the previews because he read this book in school. I am sure glad we went to see it, we thoroughly enjoyed it!

Highly recommend this to anybody with kids. Especially those with some in middle school. my son has read all the books and he loved it. the best part for me was when my 14 y/o leaned over to me during one scene and said "man, i totally remember those days." i died inside laughing.

The kid you think is the hero behaves like a jerk to everyone for the entire film and then is turned back into a hero in one final act of desperation only after finding that nobody likes a jerk. Sorry, I'm not impressed. Thankfully, the film is short enough to leave time to look for a good book.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid the movie is as charming as the book. If you enjoyed the book, you will like the movie, it stayed closer to the actual book than most movies "based" on a book.. A little poetic license taken here and there but in the end, my son and I both agree, this movie was VERY close to the book. We enjoyed seeing some of our favorite characters come to life on the big screen and look forward to the "Rodrick Rules" installment if they make one.

I took my son and daughter to see this movie and they both laughed all the way through. It has something for every kid. I found myself laughing quite a bit too. This is a great movie to see as a family though my son has read all the books and says they left several things out. This tells me they will no doubt have a sequel or two.

I took my sons (age 9 and 14) to see this and they both loved it. They have read all the books, which made it much more enjoyable for them. My 9 year old actually said it was the "best movie ever!" As a parent, it was enjoyable as well. We forget what it was like to be in middle school, this movie makes us realize what our kids are going through at this age. The character of Rowley was particularly well done, as well as the not-so-nice older brother Roderick.

took 10 boys to see this and everyone enjoyed it a lot. There's lots of humor, plenty of crude booger-type jokes but with great messages about trying to fit in. Everyone - young and old - can relate to the turmoil of finding the balance between being yourself and trying to be like everyone else so you'll fit in. In the end the right message comes through.

This movie was all about injustice and how kids deal (or don't deal) with it. There is little parental involvement in problem solving as the story portrays middle school as being socially challenging, to say the least, for the two main characters. I think the story is a misrepresentation of middle school life for the average middle schooler today. The story line is too harsh on all fronts. The mean big brother, the jerk gym teacher, the unobservant safety patrol teacher/mentor, the lead character's pre-occupied parents.
I would recommend that all children younger than 10 stay home. The social injustices may feel traumatic and confusing for them. They did for my two 5 yr olds boys and my almost 8 year old boy. I wished I'd not taken them!

I took my dd and her bff (9 and 10 years old) to Wimpy Kid last night. It was a good story. I loved the characters, they did a great job, especially Rowley, the dad, and Roderick.
If you're a parent, you won't be bored. The girls liked it, too, but didn't like the gross parts.

If you have a kid in middle school you should go watch this movie. It shows how hard it can be for certain kids. Made me remeber what kids go through when sometimes we forget. Very funny movie enjoyed it! Would recommend for kids as well as for parents.

As an adult who has endured many awful children's movies, I can safely say this wasn't one of them. I quite enjoyed it and didn't want to know what time it was during the entire film. I thought the soundtrack was clever given that it was a kids' movie and I liked the cast. BUT I haven't read the books. My children have read all the books and they didn't mention anything that bothered them continuity wise so I think it was a win all around.
