Had a movie date with 2 boys, 4 & 8 years. Both loved the movie! It was funny & had plenty of gross boy appropriate humor - AND, it got the laughs without bringing in older-age inappropriate material! An added plus, the plot didn't involve being disrespectful to parents or friends (think iCarly...) just a thoughtful life lesson about how to treat your friends. The characatures were also cute & whitty.

Great movie for my daughter who took her friends to see it for her 11th bday. As the girls will be entering middle school next year, this was the perfect age/movie. There were even a few laughs for adults who are parents or those recalling moments from growing up.

Very Good, my 9 year old son liked it. He said that "he had hoped it would have been funnier, but it was pretty good otherwise." I was not sure what to think about it before we went but enjoyed it. I would recommend it to anyone with kids, probably not to my friends that are not parents.

Great movie. Good message and probably one of the best kids movies of all time! Lots of laughs and lots of fun. I do look forward to seeing Diary of a Wimpy Kid Rodrick Rules. Hope they make all the books a movie. Also read the book, it would make parts in the movie funnier. :D Enjoy the movie!

This review is coming from an adult who found the movie a bit boring. don't get me wrong it had some funny bits in and my 10 year old really liked it. Half way through my 7 year old asked me for his DS because he was bored. However he was still able to tell me all the bits he thought were funny after that. I took my 6 and 11 year old sons and their 12 tyear old friend. They did not enjoy it as they felt it was slow and short on laughs. I would have to agree. I would rent it - it is not worth the time.

My 9 year old daughter had just finished reading me the last book in the series when I found out it was already in theatres. This is an excellent movie!! I usually sleep through the 'kid's movies' we go to, but this movie had me laughing out loud for 90 minutes! It followed the first book to a T.........which made my daughter extremely happy! They added just enough sarcasim to the script to to keep adults laughing while the little ones "didn't get it", making it enjoyable for the whole family! I highly recommend this movie for everyone...but especially if your kids have read the books! A+ entertainment!!

This movie showed exactly how I do NOT want to raise my kids, and pray that they would never demonstrate the characteristics and behaviors by any of the characters in the movie, with the possible exception of Rowley. The lead character had such an overly-inflated ego problem, and truly believed he was far better than he was. There were several examples of bullying which were almost never dealt with, and potty behavior condoned by parents at the dinner table. Have you ever????!!!

'Diary of a Wimpy Kid' is definitely geared toward the pre-teen and early teen crowd. It is very juvenile oriented, with lots of potty humor, nasal debris jokes, and other forms of gross out attempts. I don't recommend that anyone take their kids to see it (even though they would probably enjoy it) because it also displays examples of prank playing, bullying, and other bad behavior. The lead character was a good example of what happens to kids who have an undeserved overly high self esteem.

I took two preteens to see the movie. I thought it had great actors and the story line was funny. I have never read the books but now I might. It really shows kids that having confidence is all you need and people will like you.

My kids read the books and really liked the movie. I didn't read the book and I found myself restless at times, and waiting for more. There were some funny moments but mostly it's a movie to enjoy if you're a preteen who has read the books. However, the best part for me was the big earthquake that caused our seats to move for 45 seconds and the screen to move for another minute or so. But the funniest part for our family of four, was when the large women in front of us accidently let out a big fart in one of the silent pauses in the film. We were not sure if our laughing was the cause of the theatre moving or the earthquake!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Movie was very dry and slow. Like watching paint dry.
my kids liked the movie, but were not happy with how different it was from the book, which they both love.
