I would have to say that the "Christmas Carol" was a good movie. I thought the acting was great (especially Jim Carrey!). Robert Zemeckis brought some of his own ideas into the film, but mostly kept true to the original Dickens's tale. My favorite part of this film was the "Christmas Past" Jim Carey. Jim does this thing with his head that I found myself laughing out loud! My only negative thought for this film is that parents need to be warned about the content. This is not your Mickey Mouse animated film, but rather a dark re-telling of the Christmas Classic. Just make sure to speak to your kids after the movie to see what they thought. All in all a great achievement!

I would never take my children to see this. It was scary and it wasn't the real Christmas Carol. I actually found it stupid, especially when the ghost present kept laughing , forcing it, as you could tell. It was obnoxious and nothing like the real one. Sorry, I am a kid at heart, but, would never want to see this again. I will say Jim Carrey did a good job and the graphics and sounds were good...that's about it

The movie is superb for graphics, as for this version of the story, it is true to the dark tone of the Dickens classic. The portrayal of scrooge was dissapointing, It's like watching a combination of Reginald Owens and Alistair Sims performance in one and is familiar and less entertaining than the previous portrayals. You don't get a feel or emotionally tied to Scrooge, Tiny Tim or his Nephew in this version. So at the end it lacks the feel good and warmth that the other versions provided.

Not a movie for under ages 10, just because most wouldn't understand the plot, or why Scrooge is a tragic figure instead of an evil one. Very well made and should be in the running for best animation in the Academy Awards.

Good: Beautiful effects. I also like that they didn't over Hollywood-ize the movie... and stuck closer to Dickens’ story. There were moments when I truly felt the emotions being expressed by the characters, which isn't that easy for film makers to achieve with me.
Bad: The artwork wasn’t consistent… some objects looked amazing, while others looked amateur. This is totally forgivable if the less detailed objects are not the camera’s subject, but in this case, some of those objects and characters were front and center. The most annoying thing was the slow, too smooth manner in which the characters looked around or at each other. This was a constant obstacle to becoming immersed in this fantasy world.

If you are going to see this movie for laughs, don't go. If you truly know the story "A Christmas Carol" you should expect to see that story. It is not a comedy. It is not scary if it is explained properly and clearly. Jim Carrey is wonderful and if you go to see silly assinie Jim Carrey, you've come to the wrong movie. The 3-D effects were wonderful. If you have ever experienced the ride Soarin' at Disney you will love this movie in 3-D. My 8 year old and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great movie. Great story that never gets old.

The marriage of Disney/Pixar Technology and Jim Carrey's limitless talent gives you just what you would expect. The effects are superb and Jim Carrey playing multiple parts displays his versatility. You cannot distinquish his natural voice in any part that he reads. He is outstanding, and I would be extremely surprised if he is not nominated for an Academy Award for his efforts. Since the story line is so well-known, it is a tad slow but overall, a real winner.

I'm a huge 3D fan so when I learned this movie was going to be in 3D and then took in the A Christmas Carol Train Tour this past summer, I couldn't wait to see it. I was not disappointed either as this is an excellent movie and a excellent showcase for 3D technology.
Just think, this same technology, this movie (and other 3D movies) will be available to consumers in 2010 when 3D HDTVs and 3D Blu-Ray players will be out and on the shelves of major retailers.
Am I the only one who noticed that the scene shown in the previews where the snowflake lands on Scrooge's nose and he blows it off was not even in the movie? I already told my wife that I want to see this again before Christmas.

Jim Carrey is superb as usual in everything he does. This film was amazing because I couldn't even tell it was Jim Carrey's voice. He totally transformed in this film. Hard to believe it was really him. Of course, he is probably one of the most, if not the most talented person in the movie industry. Animation was almost unbelievable, blew me away. Story line was definitely scarey, more like a Halloween flick. At times a little slow. But who cares, Jim Carrey scored once again!

A Christmas Carol is my favorite holiday book, so any movie that doesn't try to abide by Charles Dicken's spirit is quickly written off. This movie took me by surprise because I didn't believe the reviews. Superb loyalty to the storyline; expanding on some themes without compromising or diminishing the message; fantastic animation and the imagary on top of all that was superb. The contrast between good and evil, the life lessons and yes the sheer thrill of the ride...well, can you tell I'm going back to catch the 3D version?

First, I must tell you that I am an avid Disney fan, so Disney has to really screw up for me not to give a good review. This movie should be for all ages, but it is too dark and scary for young kids. Even my 15 year old was scared. The episodes for the first ghost should be happy and sad. The second ghost should be very jolly (which he was not) and the episodes should have been sad (NOT DARK). The only dark part of the story is the third ghost, but all 3 ghosts were dark. In short, a story known as a wonderful holiday story is 98% dark and 2% joyful which is not what I want from a feel good story. What was Disney thinking?

This movie follows the latest trend of movie remakes that are darker than the original or previous versions. The movie might not be a good idea for younger children due to the darkness and sudden volume changes that catches the viewer off guard. The visual effects were great, even in non-3D. The animation was very life-like almost to the point of having a hard time distinguishing whether it was live action or animation. I did not go into the movie with very high expectations because it is an old story and you know where it is going, and it is also Disney. I was not disappointed. The attention to detail was great and the story was not altered or modernized or distorted in any way. It was very enjoyable.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Film is spectacular but cold & often drags, with surprisingly limp performance by Jim Carrey. Static moments are punctuated by wild 3D 'rides' where Scrooge & ghost will go zooming thru London. Interiors are drab & dark. Animation sometimes falls into the "uncanny valley". Director employs super photo-realism - end result is CGI actors that sometimes creep you out. Ex: Scrooge has a skeletal body & it comes off as weird. Reach for 1870s Realism often results in faces with blemishes, zits & rotting teeth! In closeups you see every single pore on Scrooge's face, including hair on his nose. Lastly, it was a bad idea to have Jim Carrey doing the voices of 8 characters; there's blandness to important characters' voices throughout this film.

My kids really enjoyed this flick! My 7 year old daughter was a little scared at certain points but my 5 year old son found it not scary and thrilling! Both would agree that it was highly entertaining! I enjoyed it right alongside with them and highly recommend it to all those interested:)

Jim Carrey was wonderful. Extremely well put together movie. The 3D effects were interesting, however I did think this movie is for children under 10, could be scary and upsetting for them.

Disney's retelling of this classic story really reminds you of what a dark tale it really is. For my 7 year twins and 8 year old duaghters it was quite scary, At times my kids would not even look at the sreen. For Carrey fans, it was Carrey playing a role. It was not Jim Carrey being Jim Carrey. I would have liked it more if i waited for it on DVD.
