This was a wonderful adaptation of Charles Dickens lovely christmas story. We were lucky enough to see this in 3-D which was fantastic and had us in awe of the effects and the delightful artwork throughout the movie. We decided to see this movie before our Thanksgiving feast and we were so thankful it was above and beyond our expectations. A must-see for all Dickens fans and anyone who wants to remember what the spirit of Christmas is truly about.

Isn't Jim Carrey supposed to be funny? Artistically the movie is well done but I was not going to see a dark version of A Christmas Carol. Don't bring the kids, it is not a rendition they will enjoy and will likely have nightmares after seeing it.
For an adult, if you want to see another version of a good story, all I can say is that I did not fall asleep.

Great computer animation will wow the adults not accustomed to playing latest video games, good job reciting famous quotes from the book, but where's the feeling? For all the people that don't like emo, this story is supposed to get you choked up a little, (think It's a Wonderful Life- please I hope they don't remake that classic, computer animation can't replace true acting, and Mr. Stewart knew how to act, something that is lacking in a lot of today's movies) if anybody is expecting Jim Carrey to be funny (and he became a bajillionaire for the image of a spastic, elastic faced buffoon) he's not. I was sorry I had brought my 9 year old, I don't think any kid would enjoy this movie, won't be buying the dvd or recommending it!

This was an excellent way to begin the Christmas Season. The animation /acting was superb. The 3D was beyond expectation and the story stayed true to the original tale. I am a Scrooge fan and love every old version and was prepared to be disappointed by a "souped up " edition;, but, instead, I was thrilled. I would pay to see it again. NOT for young children, though. A little too realistic in the scary parts.

This version of A Christmas Carole adheres closely to the Dickens version with great graphics and superior effects. We saw it with our 11 year old daughter and her friend (2nd time for the friend) and we all loved it. A great story with incredible visuals and Jim Carrey does Scrooge as well as anyone ever has. A bit scary as always for kids under 6 though.

I brought my 10-year old son and three of his classmates to this film. We sat in the front row of the 2D release. We all enjoyed it very much.
Marley and other ghosts are rendered very well and they all made us jump out of our seats.
I actually wish that the film would have been longer, because the kids wanted to see more of Scrooge and Tiny Tim together.
I came to the movie with a little trepidation, but I would go to the theater to see it again. I wouldn't buy it for home viewing unless you have a big-screen with an adequate sound system to do the movie and its effects proper justice.

This was a great movie! The special effects were wonderful. I accidentally bought tickets online to the show that wasn't 3D, but when I got to the theater and discovered what I'd done they let me upgrade. I think that small children may be frightened at some of the sceens, but we had no children with us so it was a non issue. I would see it again!

I saw this movie in 2D because my friend, who I went to the movies with, thought the 3D version would make him dizzy. It was phenomenal and I'd really like to see the 3D version even if I have to go to see it by myself. I didn't realize this story was the basis for the character Tiny Tim. I thought that originated with that guy in the '60s who sang Tiptoe Through The Tulips while playing a uklele.

I have to admit that I had gone into this movie with alot of skeptisism as far as the dimensional effects. That being said, I'm a huge fan of this story and prior to seeing this version of the film my favorite had always been the original. Aside from providing my date and I with a most wonderful experience, the entire theatre was errupting with the same emotions, fears and physical reactions. At one point I placed my right hand in front of my face, at arm's length, and a snowflake fell between my face and hand. The only thing I would change is the rating should be PG-13. The 3D effects were so good the movie can be frightening.

My daughters and I went to see the movie and as a previous reviewer mentioned you can not tell what version you are getting, the 2D or 3D and to our GREAT disappointment we were in a small theatre where the 2D was playing and 2 doors down was the 3D in one of their larger venues. I complained to the manager and all they said was we should go to their website to purchase tickets in the future...
Movie itself was great! Did frighten both my girls (7 and 14) in some scenes but I think that overall it was a very fun film.

I purchased the tickets on movietickets.com to ensure that we would have a seat. Unfortunately, it did not say online that I purchased tickets for the "2-D" version and not the "3-D" version. I started watching the film with my daughter and nephew and realized quickly that there was something wrong. Luckily, the theater allowed us to watch the next showing of the 3-D version, but we were charged $3 per person for the 3-D glasses. ANYWAY, please do not make the same mistake we made- the 3-D version was incredible! It amazed me at how life-like the animation was- great effect, very true to the classic tale, and with the right amount of comic relief.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This was, by far, the creepiest version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL I have ever seen. I should state that I am not a big Jim Carrey fan. I don't dislike him in all things, but I do not like it when he overdoes it, as he does here. Too much time was spent on dizzying 3D effects and not enough on plot development. The usually benevolent Ghost of Christmas Present was a caricature and then had an extremely grim demise. Bob Cratchet and his family did not garner enough sympathy in this version either. My six year old spend half of the movie with her head buried on my shoulder. Don't waste your money. Watch Alastair Sim or George C. Scott instead.

... even though the title says "Disney's A Christmas Carol" this is far from your standard cgi kid fare. It can get downright nightmarish. There are scenes that literally made the younger kids in my theater audience bawl. That being said this is the most realistic looking cgi film I've ever seen...right up there with "Final Fantasy". All the actors (esp. Oldman and Xmas Past Carrey) are instantly recognizable. Again... leave the smaller kids home.

This is the most disturbing version of a Christmas Carol I think I've ever seen! I was so excited to see this movie & had hoped I would leave there in the Christmas spirit, but I left disturbed. I cannot imagine anyone taking children to see this movie! This would give such nightmares! The movie is overly done with scary, haunting images. They just go too far. The animation is creepy and the accents of the characters is so thick you cannot understand what they are saying half of the time.
See any other version of the Christmas Carol. Better luck next time Disney.

We saw the movie as a family and had a lot of fun. We liked the art work a lot and the parts of the movie that were true to the orignal story. However, the parts of the movie that were added for 3D effect only, i.e. the chase near the end, lowered the rating for us. Also this is not a movie for young kids. We had several leave the movie because they could not handle it.

Disney should be sued for marketing this as a kid's movie on the Disney Channel and with the tour bus. This movie had too many over the top scary parts. About 3/4 of the movie is violent, horrific, and nightmarish. My 8 year old could not sleep after watching it and I had to cover his eyes through most of it. The message is lost in this version. Dickens would be disgusted. I think Disney needs to read the book again.

I have the old time radio program of this movie. I would rather recommend the old time radio version of this than the movie. First, in the movie, the 1 spirit had said that there would be a spirit every night for the next three nights. As we know, its in one night. The laugh of the second ghost made it a bit scary. Some of the people who were in the theater screamed and one told them to shut up

When I learned of this remake I was excited. Unfortunately, the writers and animators butchered a great classic. All three costs are terribly portrayed, the movine line altered to be almost too 'dark', etc. You do not walk away inspired to be a better person. Stick to the other remakes.

I said "yes" to recommendation because I'm kind of on the fence with this one. Definitely not a kids movie. I was not impressed with 3D effects, the film lacked the emotion of the original story and I found myself wondering in "Christmas future" what the last guy in the line was doing with his nose when the 3 guys were wondering what would become of Scrooge's money at his death. I certainly hope it was not what it appeared to be. If in fact, it was, "shame on Disney".
