Great retelling of the classic tale. I was impressed by the fact that it really stuck to the text from the book, but brought the delivery to life so it did not seem archaic at all. The detail was stunning. The haunting bits were very scary for my 6 year old, so be forewarned!

I was impressed with this re-make of the old classic. Since I knew what was going to happen next almost all of the time it probably took some of the excitement out of the movie. I was disappointed that the Movie theater I was viewing the movie in did not show it in IMAX/3D but in 'regular' format. They probably did not have more than a few IMAX screens which were being used for another new release. All in all it was a good movie but would have been much better in IMAX/3D.

Perhaps if I had read some reviews before going, I would have not been as disappointed but other than the very ending, I was very disappointed. While I knew it was some sort of animated production, I did not know it was SciFi. First of all, as a Jim Carrey fan, I was disappointed that I could not tell by anything that he was actually in the movie. Next, I took my family, my brother's family, and my elderly parents to see the film on Christmas Eve thinking this would really put us in the Christmas spirit. The telling of the story was weird/strange to me, so I'm sure my parents were not exactly enthralled.

While the story itself was a little dark, the camera work and special effects were outstanding. Definetely aimed more at the adults. some very scary scenes for small children. I would recommend seeing it for the effects.

A well-done CGI version of this classic story. This version seemed to be truer to Dickens' vision than many others. The story itself was a part of Dickens' long-standing war against the oppression of the common people of England. This effort was his best attempt to fully integrate that theme into an entertaining story. The movie itself, after a slow and grumbly start, becomes a rocking, roaring romp through the past, present and future. The effects may be a little scary for smaller children, but for adults it's a lot of fun.

I love this story but the movie was WAYYYYYY TOO LOUD. It seemed as if this interpretation was about the loudness of the DFX and Theater Surround Sound.
The animation was great. The characters were well represented but I would not go back to the theater to see it again.

This was a good, fun film to watch with our children (8, 5 and 6mos) and it kept the kids' attention through the whole movie, but, it was not AS GOOD as I had thought and hoped it would be. It did have some scary scenes but my kids loved that! A Christmas Carol is a timeless classic that our kids will probably never know unless it comes out in a Disney or Pixar type film like this so I am glad we went to see it. It also threw in just the right amount of some funny scenes to keep it a little silly too. I am glad we went to see this. Next...Alvin and the Chipmunks and Planet 51!!!

The movie was really pretty good, but it did get slow in a few spots. It would have been really great to have seen it in 3D as advertised. This was the whole point of the movie to me, so I was a little dissapointed. It should have been advertised not being in 3D any longer. I really felt ripped off. Also my husband and I took our granddaughters and they are 11 and 8 yr. of age. They really got bored with it before it ended.

This is a very good movie and would have been really wonderful if it was still showing in 3D, the theatre did not state that the showing was no longer 3D, so this part was a disapointment, especially for the price to see it. It kept mostly to the original, with some very good animation but really is for 14 and up. My husband and I (early 40's) was checking it out for our grandkids, umm no!. Even the older ones sitting next to us were jumping and hiding their faces in parts of the movie. Over all very well done.

This the what Dickens' Christmas Carol was meant to be, a cautionary tale. The storytelling is lovingly mindful of Dickens' tale, while the animation is breathtakingly beautiful. This will surely be a Christmas classic for families for years to come. The most accurate telling I have ever seen!! Disney should be applauded for bringing Dickens' story to life so wonderfully. They didn't take it and "silly it up". This is what Dickens wanted us to know!!

I took my 12 yr. old son, 6 of his classmates and my six yr. old daughter to see this. Several scenes were very frightening for my daughter, while all of the boys were on the edge of their seat. One of the boys admitted that he would probably have nightmares from it. Very dark interpretation of the classic. Amazing animation!

Went with a friend to see this movie in 3D. It is very well done; there were times when I thought the snowflakes were going to fall right in my lap. The story is told traditionally and appears to use much of the original Dickens manuscript. Jim Carrey's portrayal of Scrooge is an Oscar-worthy performance and there are several scenes that are quite funny.
With that said, I would not recommend taking small children; it is a very dark storyline and my opinion is that it would be rather scary for the little ones. Other than that one caveat, I would heartily recommend it to anyone.

The 3-D special effects were spectacular in this movie. Unfortunately, the plot veered from the original. I read quite a few reviews stating that this version stayed true to the original plot so I was very disappointed to find out it didn't. 3-D has come a long way from the old days - I enjoyed that part of it the most. It is definitely not a kid movie. Kids in the audience were having a hard time with understanding it or were afraid.
