its a good, funny flick. I didn't enjoy it as some as others in the audience I watched it with, but enjoyed it nonetheless. It's pretty genius in that it appeals to a pretty large demographic - 15-45, male and female.
Definitely worth the time and the $$$, even with a babysitter.

I was not to sure about this movie at first, but something told me that I needed to see it. Anything that Craig Robinson is in, is worth the price of admission. Within 5 minutes, I knew I was going to be laughing through the entire movie. I wouldnt say its as good as the Hangover, but it came pretty close. And as for those complaining about the plot, keep in mind that this movie is called Hot Tub Time Machine. Much like Snakes on the Plane, you know what you are getting into when you go see it, and really have no leg to stand on if you are saying the plot was weak.

Obviously, the writers of this film only know one adjective...the F word. The character, Lou, should have killed himself at the beginning of the movie so we would not have to endure him for 2 hours.
I thought John Cusak starred in good films. "Eight Men Out" and "Runaway Jury" are outstanding movies. "Hot Tub" ranks as one of the worst. The title, "Hot Tub Time Machine" should give audiences a clue that this is no Oscar winner. My wife wanted to see this movie for her birthday. So, I took her. She apologized to me afterward for making me take her see this piece of trash.

My wife and I, being in our 40's, loved the movie. It started off a little slow, but picked up within 15 minutes or so. I can see where some younger adults wouldn't relate to this movie since it mainly involves the 80's. But we did like a lot of the humor and tie in's with the 80's. If your offended by the "F" bomb then you might not want to go. Otherwise great movie.

I'm not especially uptight but this movie is so bad it deserves to skip DVDs. It makes 'Bruno' look like Shakespeare. Stupid plot, little humor. If you removed the F word this film would be about four minutes long. Targeted at the (barely) post-puberty group who still love gross-outs.

A decent film with some ok laughs. Those that loved the vastly overrated The Hangover will probably like this. Those that prefer character driven comedy like I Love You, Man will probably be bored by a lot of this.
Relies too much on (FAR too obvious) pop culture references for the majority of its jokes, the characters are unlikeable jerks (except Craig Robinson), and the overall message is very shallow...better example of an 80's retro film would be The Wedding Singer...better example of a time travel comedy would be Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.
Best part of the film is easily Crispin Glover, and his role is quite small.

The story is weak, but the humor is strong. Seriously, if you're looking for an epic story you won't find it here. But, if you want to laugh your butt off then this is your movie. It's not the best movie ever made, but for a Friday night after a long week, it was just what the doctor ordered. I love Cusack and he's in on the "back to the '80's " joke just by being in the movie....and that's not a slam. I liked it

Gimme a well-produced crude, lewd, just-for-the-Hell-of-it randy movie any day, but this one is just a waste of time dud. if you spent the '80s watching Cinemax "adult" features, you'll certainly recognize the lousy story, acting and other elements, but hardly ever scratch the surface on the anticipated five minutes of titillation. It coulda been an ironic contenda, but wound up as a bum.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Our 21-year-old son loved it. We thought it was amateurish, humorless and crude. Just for the sake of being crude. The Hangover was vulgar but funny. There's no script to speak of, and it looks like they used one or two sets from different angles. I think the producer (Cusack)made a bet: that he could make a really stupid movie dirt cheap, give it a goofy title, throw in about 1,000 f Bombs, and it would make a ton of money. He was right.
