Although there were many parts of the movie that I wouldn't recommend someone seeing, I guess the movie wouldn't have been as funny as it was without that stuff. It was pretty darned funny.

My husband and I (mid 30s and early 40s) saw this for a date night. We both went in with the expectation of a funny, no thuinking type movie and this was the flick for us. Funny cameo appearances from 80s nostalgia and people. Not a critic type movie, but is one that can make you laugh!!! Along the same lines as Superbad.

With no expectations going into the movie, my date and I - both in our early 30s - had a really fun time watching this flick unfold. The 80s music, garb and paraphernalia were a hoot to re-experience. The movie is mainly about relationships, specifically friendships and the choices we make through life. I particularly enjoyed the underlying philosophical aspect of this movie. The movie is well cast and acted with many funny, uncomfortable and crude moments. Overall, I would recommend this movie to anyone over the age of 30.

Any person in their late 30's to early 40's will appreciate this movie! It is absolutely hysterical with some super one-liners that will have you rolling! Its lewd, crude, and very rude, but it has its moments. The sight gags are toilet humor and the script is moronic but the laughs are definitely there. Its wrong. Its sick. Its twisted. And the running jokes take bad taste to a new level. Yet there is something that reminds you not just of a decade long gone, but of a time when you could laugh without guilt about almost anything that was stupid.
John Cusack obviously wanted a break from serious film making and found this mindless buddy film and made it as a lark. He's entitled. Don't go expecting anything more than the title suggests.
Everything here has been done before and usually better, but its still works on its own level whatever that is. No, its certainly not science fiction and there's no attempt to even try to make sense but it does have its message about having second chances and going for it.
If you're easily offended don't go because this is far worse on many levels than the Hangover ( a far better film that actually had some intelligent structure). But if you never lost that adolescent part of you, you'll find this entertaining.

This movie is hilarious from start to finish. It's story is half "Back to the Future," half "The Hangover." Probably just becasue I went to college in the 80's ('82-'87) and that was when I did most of my partying, that's why I enjoyed this movie. It was like a trip into my own past at times. The lady I was with is 20 years younger than me and she thought it was much more humorous than I did so there you have that. I wouldn't go see it again but didn't mind that I saw it once.

I disagree with comments that say that it was more vulgar than wedding crashers and american pie put together etc... I honestly don't know where these comments originated from. There was truly only one vulgar character (which is not necessarily a bad thing depending on your movie tastes), and that was Lou played by Rob Corddry. John Cusack was absolutely superb - and the movie is quite easy to enjoy if you were born in the 80's and remember a time when "Poison" was the most rockin' band around and hair a foot in length was the norm. The movie is quite witty if you can understand the wide array of 80's referances, but probably not a "gem" otherwise. As for minor characters, many other reviewers liked the one-armed bellhop - but I thought it was a pointless subplot in the film. I did however succumb to the charm of Collette Wolfe who played Kelly... she was part of an interesting albiet obvious subplot that added a lot of flavor to the show. I should also mention that if your looking for specifics on time travel - this is not your movie. There is no flux capacitor here ladies and gentelman: just an energy drink and a hot tub. All in all I give the movie an 8/10.
