Oh how I can not even begin to describe this horrendous movie! First off, I was so excited to see this movie in theaters, but fortunately I didn't get around to seeing it in theaters but later rented in at RedBox. Thank God I only spent $1.00 on this movie, that's about all it was worth. I was so dissapointed because I am a huge fan of Channing and Amanda, also a fan of N. Sparks. But wow did they mess up on this one!! The whole story line was bad and too unrealistic. I totally agree with others on how she quickly moved on after he left for war and the ending. But for me it started sooner like the very begining how they met and fell way too fast for eachother, also it just didn't flow right, lots of choppy scenes. Also what really bothered me is how Amanda's character knew about Autism and John's dad's case but yet didn't even follow up on him or even knew that he died until John told her, yet she didn't live far away and she would always visit him. I could go on and on but one more thing was who in their right mind would send someone a letter, while at war, and break up with them...inconciderate even if they had moved on they could wait til they were home. DON't EVEN RENT IT!!!

Was expecting this to be a chic-flic, so I wasn't disappointed. Even though the title insinuates a "Dear John" letter, I was surprised when he finally received it. And I expected that the engagement was to the preppie. Although I was close to tears at several points in the movie, it was his talk with his father in the hospital that made them flow. I just lost my dad 4 weeks ago and those times spent by his bedside came flooding back. I would defintely buy the dvd.

I was not sure what to expect and loved every minute of this movie. It stays out of political stands and is a wonderful love story. Go and enjoy this.

i'm a big softy and liked the notebook, so figured i would like this movie. the story behind the movie was pretty cool with it being within modern times. the part that almost brought me to tears in the theater was when he was talking to his father in the hospital. the ending and all had a good twist in it, so i was a huge fan

My hubby is deployed...this movie touched me on a deeper level, than most...probably. I read the book...so expected to be moved to tears! Will definitely buy it for me and the husband to cry together when he gets back home! :)

Chic Flick ...phooey!!!! It keeps the guys from going. Anyway, took my mister with and we enjoyed it. Good love story with a touching ending. Bring kleenex.

The movie was nice and was crafted well. It isn't a fabulous movie but is a nice romance with a plausible plot.
