I really enjoyed watching this after reading the book. I thought that Channing and Amanda did a fantastic job. I cried and cried several times. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because they changed the ending.

It was a decent movie. Not the tear jerker I had anticipated, but good for such young actors. The most touching parts of the movie I felt were between the son and his father. After the girl sent him the Dear John letter, her role seemed like an after thought and unimportant. A better movie for younger people/teens, it wasn't developed enough for an older audience.

I would recommend this movie. It wasn't my all time favorite, but had a meaningful and relevant story line. I don't agree that it was totally predictable, there was a couple of twists in there I wasn't expecting. It was much better than I thought it was going to be. I agree that Amanda Seyfried is not a good actress and is a bit plain looking- i'm dumbfounded that she somehow made it in Hollywood.

This was a great movie to take the one you love to. From being in the military in the past and meeting the love of my life while there, it was a story that was such a familiar situation to what my wife and I faced. I thought the movie was charming however, I didn't read the book before seeing it so I don't have that to compare. I have been told there are a lot more things that happen in the book that made Savannah eventually make the decisions that she does but I did really like the upbeat ending. The acting was well done.

I thought that this movie was horrible. All the emotional values from the book were twisted and you didn't even feel their love connection in the movie. I was very excited to see this movie because I had read the book, which was amazing. However, I was EXTREMELY disappointed by the movie. They completely changed most of what happens in the book and left some of the most important details completely out of it. They didnt even include the whole moral of the story at the end. This was a good movie, of course as in most movies filmed from a book, the book was alot better. So i just saw this movie today and overall...was not impressed. The chemistry between the two was almost awkward and dull. The only good acting I enjoyed watching was Richard Jenkins. The plotline was slow and at some points, my eyes were getting heavy. As for Amanda Seyfried's reaction over the father's death... I couldn't help but laugh out loud. The reaction was too staged and unnatural considering how close the two were. She needed a lot more emotion to her reaction. A few tears would have been nice. Overall, this movie was another disappoint of a Nicolas Spark movie.

First off, to everyone, -DO NOT read the critic's review!!!- He/she is dense, naive, and incapable of understanding the dual-storyline. The critic is inaccurate on the storyline and twists the plot incorrectly. While the movie is depressing in some sections, the overall message and acting is amazing and sweet.
This movie is one of the best non-comical romance movies I've seen in a long time. It takes an average guy (a guy not in a million dollar job or in a hard to believe situation) and follows the love story.

I thought this was an excellent movie. Can't wait for the Last Song. I love all of Nicholas Sparks books and movies.

When I first saw the previews i thought to myself...wow that looks like a cute movie... I was even tempted to read the book.... but i didnt.. i went to see the movie first. I was disappointed. This movie is different from the way the previews made it seem like. also the ending was weird and could have been done better.

If you've read the book, you'll be dissapointed. The ending is totally different as are many other things in the movie. The movie was pretty good, a tear jerker as expected, but the book is sooooo much better (then again, they usually are!!)

The movie was pretty good. Not one of my favorite Nicholas Sparks book but I enjoyed it. Could it have been better? Yes.
