The Movie was overall good. I thought it could have done with a a little more about the letters. Amanda of course was gorgeuos and pretty good acting but Channing could have put a bit more feeling in the acting. Story line was good and a few moments of tear jerking.

I had read the book and this one has a little bit of a different ending, but they made it work and the new ending was wonderful as well.
It is a warm love story between a guy and a girl and also a dad with his son.

I did not read the book... so I am NOT comparing. The story about the relationship between father and son was MUCH more believeable and relatable than the girl-boy thing. Channing Tatum's acting was surprisingly decent.... but Amanda Seyfried was just not believable. I tried to like her...but I didn't find her "natural" in any way.

went to see the movie with my daughter and niece and we all enjoyed the movie. It seemed a bit long but it was well worth seeing, there was some teary eyed moments for me in the movie. Overall it has a real to life story of modern today and some surprise twists. The love story is amazing and it leaves you guessing until the end. Go see it enjoy it.

After reading the book, I wasn't sure about seeing the film. However, I am glad I did as the end of the movie went into slightly more detail than where the book left off. Overall, my husband and I both enjoyed the film and I got teary-eyed in a couple of places. Definitely a good film and I would recommend it.

"Dear John"...well it was alright. Not the sap fest that I was expecting but clearly overly predictable. It was a movie that was meant to make money by making females cry. Lmao.
Channing Tatum can't act worth a damn though. The man cannot show emotion at all. Even though he was playing a "tough guy" because if you went through what his character went through..well I know the waterworks would be flowing. The real emotion is what this lacked.
What it didn't lack was sheer predictiblity. The spontaneous rainfall and love connection. It was predictible yet unrealistic at the same time. Yet despite it's flaws men will not hate this movie.
Final Vertict = Decent...but even the O.C.'s worst > this movie

For those of you that feel this is a boring movie your moral backbone must have been removed.
The movie takes the high road for family values and shows you that you don't need sex and a lot of swear words to make a good movie. As pointed out by another website that both of these lead actors made sacrifices for others--John signed up again for his country and Savanna married for the sake of a young child.
In conclusion--if you need sex and swear words this movie is not for you but if you want a movie that is touching and warm then you need to go see this movie.

Hands down, worst movie I've seen in a long time. The only reason I stayed was because I ordered the LARGE popcorn and didn't want to waste it. I'm not usually this blunt & non-descriptive but I'll make an exception for this film. This movie sucked. The acting sucked. My fiance and I were both falling asleep a half hour into it. Maybe we didn't get it because we're not 13 years old but I can't imagine anyone crying over this film. I had read the book a couple of years ago, so had some idea what the storyline entailed. It didn't follow Nicholas Sparks' book completely, but was well done. The scenery was beautiful and the actors expressed their emotions well. John and Savannah made a fantastic couple and I was sad when they were apart. I was very disappointed. I had read the book the week before. The movie was lacking in so many areas. I felt they did not explain enough, left out too many important scenes and they changed too many aspects of the movie to really enjoy it. I am not usually one to cry during sappy, love stories. I definitely did not come prepared. I cried multiple times because of happy and sad moments. The movie was only disappointing because fo how the story went, it had nothing to do with how well it was made/captured. There were many moments were i was just begging for things to happen, but didn't, but that is part of the story so I have to say I was very impressed! I would recommend this for anyone, I brought my boyfriend with me (who despises love movies) and he told me he loved the movie and would see it again. It was well done!

I think Channing and Amanda were the BEST actors of all actors in Hollywood to play in this movie. I couldn't see any other actors doing this GREAT of a job. Two of my favorite. I absolutly LOVED the movie. Def something I can watch over and over again. Major tear-jerker, but I LOVE romantic movies. Way better plot than the Notebook. I can't wait to buy it. I really liked this movie alot. It's definately a tearjerker for sure. The movie does differ from the book at points, but still, it follows the book quite closely. I think I'm one of the few people who actually liked the ending, definately kept me wanting more. The chemistry between Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried is wonderful, as well as the chemistry between Channing and Richard Jenkins is great too. I did read the book before I saw the movie and I loved the book, the Movie is great as well on it's own, and I think the changes they made for the movie worked. In all it's a great movie

If you are going to see this movie, don't watch the trailer. I feel it completely gave away the entire movie. I felt like I knew what was going to happen before it did. Very Predictable

Dear John was a fantastic, romantic movie filled with love, comedy and action. This is defienetly a movie that i would see again. The conflict is challenging and may even bring tears to your eyes, but it really grasps your attention and makes you want to stare at the screen all night. The ending leaves you wanting more and is unexpected but great! May not be for guys but some may like it!
