I read the book about a month ago, and I wish I wouldn't have read it because of the ending. I couldn't wait for it to come out, hoping there would be some changes. It was amazing...better than I could've imagined. I loved it...I'm so glad they made changes to the movie. It's a true love story, bring lots of tissues cause you feel the love and pain they go through from being apart.

I didn't read the book so I am not comparing it to that. I thought this dragged on and on. No excitement, very dull and I thought the premise of the story was good but the movie was poorly executed. I don't recommend this movie, at least not at movie theater prices. Okay for an at home movie.

This Movie was great. Definitely A cute movie. You got all the emotions in there. You loved, you hated, you laughed, you cried. Very Fluid in the transitions of the emotional parts as well. as a girl, definitely bring a tissue but don't think you'll only use it for your tears, you'll use to wipe of your drool too, from seeing Tatum Channing shirtless. Go see it for sure!

I read the book about 2 months ago and have been waiting to see the movie ever since! True the plot of the movie doesnt follow every detail of the book...and the ending could have been better but over all I loved this movie. This is a real tear jerker and will hit you even harder if you have a loved one in the armed forces. Make sure you bring enough tissues!

ive been waiting to see the movie for 2 months...and when i finally saw it I wasn't left with the feeling of seeing it again, yes it sort of followed the book, BUT the ending was absolutely horrible. In my opinion books are always better than movies and i expected the movie to be not as good. Channing and Amanda were perfect for john and savannah, but their relationship kinda fastforwarded within the first 15 minutes of the movie which was disappointing. The book described the relationship at a much deeper level, but amanda and channing did a great job with showing emotion that left me in tears. It does stray from the book quite a bit, but overall it was pretty good. Not worth the over excitement though.

It was a very cute movie, however, it did not stick to the book at all and left out many crucial details, as well as adding some stuff that definitely did not happen in the novel. Read it before you go. The actors were great, but the love runs so much deeper in the novel. The drastically changed ending was my biggest problem with the movie, among many other frustrating details that the movie left out/added. Go see it, it's cute, but definitely READ IT to get the full story.

I was very excited to see this movie considering my boyfriend is in the army...I did not read the book, but from my viewing of just the movie i was a little bit disappointed in it and felt there un-needed drama that took away from the movie as a whole. It was still good and I would probably see it again. I just wish it was a bit different i guess. Channing Tatum was sexy ofcourse! and Amanda did a great job acting in it also....i still suggest seeing it just the trailer made it seem differently.

i was honestly so excited to see this movie after reading the book, however, i hated the movie. the book tells much more about their first week together but in the movie they move through it too quickly. the movie didn't focus enough on the love between them- they had no passion together. nicholas sparks should be upset that this is what his amazing book turned out to be.

Dear John was an excellent movie...everything about it made me reflectt on my own life. As well as the fact that it was a tear-jerker :* On the otherhand, the ending didn't flow with the book, and on that part made me quite irritated. Great director and the leads are phenomenal. The story is good and the acting was done well. Yeah, this movie got me crying ha ha. There are differences from the book and I believe the book is much better. The ending left something to be desired.
